Just like now, she was very calm, looking at him with indifference.

Yet it made his fingertips feel cold.

Clearly, it was the sa person, yet it seed she had changed. He was sowhat confused, wondering, was Iris Harris’s gaze always this cold when she looked at him before?

"Have you eaten?"

"..." Iris glanced at him, pulling her fingers out of his hand, "I have eaten."

She seed unwilling to talk to him, and after speaking, she was about to leave again. Brandan Hyde had to pull her back: "Can’t you just listen to properly?!"

Iris Harris’s attitude made him very dissatisfied.

"Do you really have to treat this way?"

Iris frowned slightly; Brandan Hyde’s questioning seed absurd and laughable to her.

"Enough, Brandan," Iris took a step back, feeling too exhausted to deal with him, "I don’t want to argue with you, can you stop picking fights?"

Upon hearing this, Brandan was instantly furious: "Iris Harris, is this how you talk to ?"

"..." Iris’s gaze remained cold as she looked at him, her eyes like a motionless winter lake, lifeless and incomparably cold, making him feel uneasy. After a while, Iris finally asked, "How do you want to talk to you?" Her tone carried an indescribable mockery.

"Brandan, I’m a human being." She looked at him, "Even a dog would fare better after following you for ten years! Let alone a human!"

Brandan’s breath caught; he knew she was angry that day, and he knew she had every right to be angry.

But...

"Didn’t I promise? I would co to rescue you. Didn’t I co? Besides, you’re fine now..."

"Fine?" As if she heard sothing amusing, Iris started to laugh, a shimr of tears in her eyes. She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath before nodding, "You’re right, I am fine..."

As she spoke, she grew sorrowful, tears falling down as she lifted her hand to wipe the corners of her eyes, "To you, as long as I’m alive, that’s considered fine, right?"

So what happened that day, what she went through, or how she escaped...

No one cared.

She had always been alone like this, who would care whether she lived or died?

Seeing her tears, Brandan felt a pang in his heart, and his tone softened, "That’s not what I ant, I..."

Iris wiped her eyes vigorously and turned to head upstairs.

Halfway up, she seed to recall sothing, turned her head to take a look at Brandan, "When you have ti, co to my room. I have sothing to give you."

With that, she left.

Watching her back, Brandan pressed his lips together a bit gloomily. He was sowhat at a loss on how to interact with the current Iris Harris.

Sworn to treat her better, but whenever his gaze t her cold, indifferent eyes, panic crept into his heart, making it impossible even to speak properly.

What was happening to him...

Brandan shook his head, a little angry inside, yet not knowing who to be angry with.

Isn’t she back safe and sound?

Even if he was wrong back then, she is fine now.

Why still refuse to forgive him?
