Chapter 8: The Dinsional Elevator
“Yes, but the timing isn’t set yet. It depends on the client—these things usually take a while since they have to arrange their own schedules,” Chen Yuze replied, thinking ahead. He might actually have to leave soon for his first mission.
“Where to? Where to? Can we co and watch? We promise not to cause trouble!” Hu Yifei nearly jumped in excitent.
“Normally, client confidentiality applies, but since we’re all close…” Chen Yuze hesitated, then decided to ease them into the idea. Who knows? They might even join him if they got excited enough.
Leaning in, he lowered his voice. “Listen, don’t spread this around.”
“Don’t worry, we won’t!” the three girls quickly promised.
“Tomb exploration,” Chen Yuze said slowly, emphasizing each word.
“Tomb raiding?” Hu Yifei’s expression darkened. “Yuze, that’s illegal. You should drop this job, it’s not a good look if people find out.”
“Relax, no one will find out. So things are hard to explain, and it’s not even confird yet. Maybe we’re just going in for a look. We don’t even know if it’s really a tomb. And I guarantee no one will notice.” How am I supposed to tell them I’m not even robbing tombs in this world?
“An official tomb-raiding organization? Wait—archaeology?” Hu Yifei caught on quickly. If it wasn’t illegal and couldn’t be discovered, what else could it be?
Chen Yuze gave her a knowing look. Hu Yifei sighed in relief. “Okay, that puts my mind at ease. Still, be careful. You never know people’s true intentions.”
“Don’t worry. So, who wants to co? You might even run into a mummy or two,” Chen Yuze said with a smirk. Everyone understood the implications—they just weren’t saying it out loud.
“Can we really co? Won’t we get in your way? Will your client agree?” Hu Yifei eyed him suspiciously.
Chen Yuze nodded. “No problem. This ti, the client isn’t coming—just . It’s not a big job anyway. He just wants so ancestral relics brought back. As long as the mission succeeds, he won’t care about the rest. Easy. Want to tag along? There’s money in it too!”
“We’ll… think about it,” Hu Yifei said. But barely a second later, she spun back around. “How much money?”
“Ahem! Yifei, have so dignity!” Wanyu reminded her.
“Cough, not sure yet. Depends on what we find. Who knows where his ancestors were from? But it won’t be a small amount,” Chen Yuze pressed.
“If it’s not too far, maybe we’ll check it out. Let’s talk when the location’s confird,” Hu Yifei said, though she was mostly joking.
The topic ended there, and Chen Yuze stayed quiet for the rest of the drive. When they arrived at Xiao Nanguo, he booked a private room and ordered a lavish spread. They ate and chatted, though Chen Yuze skipped the alcohol—he was driving.
By the end of the night, Hu Yifei and the others seed to have forgotten the earlier conversation. Everyone went ho and rested—after all, they’d had a long day: a wedding, moving, and finally dinner. Exhausting.
The next morning, Chen Yuze woke up early. Ever since moving in, he’d felt sothing was off. His jade talisman had been vibrating—he suspected the dinsional elevator was nearby.
Pulling out the talisman, he had spent the night figuring out so of the system’s chanics. For example, his spatial backpack couldn’t hold items from this world—only system-issued objects or relics from tombs.
Following the talisman’s guidance, he arrived at a disused storage closet opposite an abandoned rooftop. This place shouldn’t have existed—he rembered it from the Love Apartnt storyline, but maybe things had changed after his transmigration.
After confirming no one was around, he quietly opened the door and stepped inside with the talisman. Spotting a recessed slot on the wall, he placed the talisman into it.
A translucent blue panel materialized before him.

Chen Yuze imdiately clicked No. The elevator spat his talisman back out, and he pocketed it, nodding. “So the low-level talisman can transport three people. But I’m alone right now… Gotta figure sothing out.”
Exiting the elevator, he watched as it reverted to its decrepit appearance. Sighing, he grabbed a wooden plank from inside and used it to bridge the gap back to the rooftop. Glancing at the door across from him, he ruled out Zhanbo—despite his adventurous spirit, he wouldn’t leave Wanyu behind.
That storage closet was the first hurdle. Most of Love Apartnt’s residents wouldn’t humor his wild plans, and Zhanbo definitely didn’t have the guts right now.
Disappointed, Chen Yuze returned to 3601. Seeing everyone awake, he packed his things, ready to head out—at the very least, he needed to train. He wasn’t ready yet.
“Oh, Yuze, going out?” Hu Yifei was preparing breakfast and greeted him with a smile.
“To the shooting range. Want to co?” He grinned, grabbing so breakfast from the table—all bought by Yifei early that morning. She’d gotten enough for everyone.
“Shooting range? Sounds fun. Wait, let get ready! I’ll see if ijia and the others want to join.” Hu Yifei’s recruitnt skills were no joke. Soon, almost everyone in Love Apartnt had gathered—except for Teacher Zeng, who was catching up on sleep (thanks to his Midnight Horror radio show).
The idea of visiting a shooting range excited them all. Most rarely got to handle guns, and Zhanbo’s group loved them, hence their CS team, Three Shots and a Run.
Though it was a bit odd that all the girls wanted to go too. But no big deal.
