Chapter 12: Locating the Target!

“Damn, Yifei changes clothes fast.” Chen Yuze’s wandering thoughts were abruptly cut short as he turned to look at her.

Now, she wore a fitted gray tank top, skintight leather pants that accentuated her curves, and sturdy hiking boots. Her long hair was tied into a high ponytail, and a sleek leather jacket completed the look.

A pistol hung at her waist, easily reachable. Two daggers were strapped to her thighs, a longsword rested on her back, and she still held the AK-47 casually.

After changing, Hu Yifei did a few high kicks to test her mobility. Satisfied, she nodded.

“Not bad. Doesn’t restrict movent.” She admired her outfit before turning to Chen Yuze. “Let’s go tomb raiding.”

“Yes, ma’am.” Chen Yuze smirked, activating the Dinsional Elevator from the control panel.

Instantly, a sensation of extre weightlessness hit them. Their bodies lurched as if plumting downward.

Ti blurred. When the feeling finally faded, their legs were jelly, and nausea churned in their stomachs.

They collapsed onto the grass, eyes shut, taking deep breaths. After five minutes, they finally took in their surroundings, a dense forest. They were sitting on a patch of grass.

“So it’s really real… Where the hell are we?” Hu Yifei scanned the area, then glanced at Chen Yuze—only to find him equally clueless. “Useless.”

Chen Yuze pulled out a compass, relying on the Tomb Raider’s mories to orient himself.

“About 300 ters ahead. That should be our target.” He couldn’t be sure, but the location had the right feng shui energy. And it was the only notable spot around.

Hu Yifei, a city girl through and through, sighed. “Fine. Let’s check it out.”

Not far from their destination, a campsite was set up.

A woman with several dogs stood watch while a man adjusted their tents. A chubby man approached another.

“Old Hu, I’m gonna take a piss.”

“Be careful. This place feels off. Watch out for wild n!” The man nad Old Hu joked.

The fat man waved him off. “Wild n? Good! I’ll catch one and put him in a museum—charge admission!”

300 ters wasn’t far. As Chen Yuze and Hu Yifei neared the location, Chen Yuze grew more confident.

“This is it.” He nodded at Hu Yifei, who let out a relieved sigh.

Then—

“AHHH! HELP! WILD BOAR!!”

A bloodcurdling scream nearly gave both of them a heart attack. Chen Yuze instinctively drew his gun, while Hu Yifei unsheathed her sword.

“Go!” Without hesitation, they sprinted toward the sound.

Hu Yifei, educated and inherently kind, acted on instinct, soone needed help.

Both were in peak physical condition. Within seconds, they spotted a pantsless fat man running for his life, a massive black boar hot on his heels.

The man’s eyes widened when he saw them.

“Run, you two! There’s a wild boar!” He yelled, clearly concerned for the “frail” strangers.

“GET DOWN!” Chen Yuze raised his pistol.

The fat man dove to the side just as—

BANG! BANG!

Two gunshots rang out. The boar collapsed, thrashing.

But sothing was off.

“Take cover! I only fired once!” Chen Yuze shouted.

Hu Yifei and the fat man imdiately ducked into a nearby ditch.

“I owe you two my life! Just say the word, and this fat man will repay the favor!” the man panted.

Chen Yuze stared at him silently—then noticed the identical pendant around his neck.

A Gold-Touching Amulet.

“You… a tomb raider?” He tugged at the pendant. Though similar, the design was slightly different from theirs.

The fat man’s gaze flicked to Hu Yifei’s amulet. She twirled her dagger threateningly, making him flinch.

“Fellow professionals?”

“Fatty! You okay? Friends on the other side—let’s talk this out!” A man’s voice called from the distance.

Realization dawned. The second gunshot had co from the fat man’s group.

“Old Hu, relax! Just a misunderstanding—t so new friends!” The fat man stood, waving.

On the other side, a man cautiously rose. Chen Yuze stepped forward too—but subtly kept the fat man between himself and potential danger.

“You scared the hell out of !” Old Hu exhaled in relief. A woman erged beside him.

Hu Yifei stood as well.

“Misunderstanding, friends! We heard shouting and shot the boar—no harm intended,” Chen Yuze called out.

“Sa here! We fired in panic—wasn’t aiming at anyone!” Old Hu wiped cold sweat. Thank god they hadn’t escalated. They only had hunting rifles, while the other side had handguns and an assault rifle.

Both groups cautiously approached. Hu Yifei and Chen Yuze stayed half a step behind the fat man—just in case they needed a human shield.

They t where the boar lay. Two bullet wounds confird both sides had told the truth.

Tension dissolved. Then, all four of them showed their Gold-Touching Amulets.

No words were needed.

They were all tomb raiders.
