Grabbing it quickly, she unlocked it; it had no security barriers and no tricks. It was just his simple habit and easy access.

She scanned through his recent files, texts, and call logs. Everything looked like his usual routine and nothing strange.

Until her eyes caught on one open file.

An un-submitted transfer form.

Yueyao’s na was at the top, typed neatly. A hospital transfer program, blank and incomplete, was waiting for final approval. Probably he had changed his mind.

Bai Zhi’s grip on the phone imdiately tightened.

Her breath hitched, tension slowly curling through her veins.

Was he falling for her? Why the change of heart? Couldn’t this be the solution they needed, with such kind of dical reports, they could easily get rid of her.

She thought he would lock her away in a psychiatric hospital, but why did he change his mind again? Damn it! She was so close to getting rid of Yueyao! That woman should never have existed to begin with.

But she felt like she was losing Shen Xiao’s care, protection, and attention. No, she can’t let things go back; she needed to do sothing as soon as possible, or else she would lose him too.

She continued going through the phone and that’s when the door creaked open behind her, softly, but loud enough to be heard.

Bai Zhi froze and imdiately panicked getting caught in his study room. She hadn’t expected he would be back so soon!

Her pulse spiked, fingers still wrapped around Shen Xiao’s phone, screen glowing faintly in her palm but discreetly returned back closing the files she had opened.

She turned slowly to face the door where he was coming through.

He was standing in the doorway, half-shadowed by the dim light of the hall behind him. His eyes were unreadable, lips pressed into a flat line, not quite angry, but laced with sothing colder, it was probably disappointnt and calculation.

"Bai Zhi." His voice was low, and even..... Too calm.

The door clicked shut behind him getting into the study room.

Bai Zhi stiffened seeing that anger on his face. Would he start doubting her? Would he do sothing?

Still holding his phone, she tried to calm down as her lips pulled into a smooth, practiced smile. "You startled ."

His gaze flicked to the phone in her hand, then up to her face that was so innocent as always, she didn’t look suspicious.

"I didn’t think you would still be awake," he said, voice low and calm. "Couldn’t sleep?"

"I had a headache." Her fingers adjusted around the device. "Thought I would co check if you had anything for it... But then I saw your screen was still open."

Shen Xiao moved across the room, unhurried. His posture was relaxed, but she knew him too well, not a single step of his was careless. Everything was behind that calm expression.

He stopped a few feet away, gesturing toward the phone. "Have you found what you were looking for?"

"Not really." She handed it back, casually. "Just gotten in here, and your phone seed to be ringing, I was checking out who it was. How is Yueyao?"

He accepted it without question, only glanced at the screen before locking it again and slipping it into his pocket. "She’s stable now. I was considering a transfer, but the timing’s not right. Let her stay in the mansion for the ti being."

Bai Zhi tilted her head. "You are... keeping her here? With her condition? Shen Xiao, Yueyao needs treatnt, and that can’t be offered here... You are endangering yours and Shen Xuan’s life by leaving her in here..."

"I will keep her for now. I know what I’m doing... I can take control.."

She nodded slowly, hiding the tension that threatened to crawl up her spine, but you could feel the anger and disappointnt radiating from her tone, "You still care about her that much?"

There was suddenly a pause. Shen Xiao’s expression didn’t change, but he was surprised by that question. Did he care?

"She’s fragile at the mont," he calmly spoke up. "Too much movent might unsettle things. The situation is already like this. I need to handle things with care; the last thing I need is for the dia to get involved."

"And ?" Bai Zhi asked softly. "Am I still part of your world? Shen Xiao, why do I feel like you are drifting away? She asked for a divorce, why can’t you grant her and have a peaceful separation? She didn’t mind letting you have the kid!"

Wasn’t this the easiest way to separate? Yueyao was okay with divorce; she didn’t even want the child. Wasn’t it ti?

He didn’t answer right away. He just stepped forward and brushed a hand gently over her hair.

"Bai Zhi, how about you stay in the villa I had bought for you until everything is settled down?"

"Are you kicking out? Shen Xiao, how dare you? How dare you?" She suddenly knocked the files that were on the table down to the floor.

"How can you do this to ? You promised to co back to , you promised you would give Shen Xuan and be my son, you promised Shen Xiao, how can you go back on your words?

Shen Xiao froze for a minute, yes, he had promised her, they had lost their baby and there was no way Bai Zhi would beco pregnant, he was giving her Shen Xuan as a compensation, "I’m not kicking you out, but you can’t be safe here in the mansion with the way her condition is deteriorating.... I’m doing it for your own good! Mnnnh?"

"But you do know, that ain’t any good news for ! You know my condition very well! I sacrificed everything for you... I’m bound to you in this lifeti, I lost my baby because of it, I can’t give birth anymore because of it... How do you want to survive if I move out? You know very well it’s that condition that brought back...." She cried hysterically not understanding what was her fault....
