"...."

The other side went silent for a while before Jake’s voice re-erged.

"Alright, I’m at the training center currently. Where and when do we et?"

He asked and Kieran didn’t know how to thank the gods for making it so convenient for him.

It made sense now though, seeing that he had co across Ruby. Maybe it was just him, but the two of them seed to have been moving together a lot as of late.

’Yeah, they’re definitely moving together a lot!’

Kieran thought.

"Now is convenient. Send your room number.."

Kieran said and hung up on the call after getting a reply.

He stepped out of his room and approached the room Jake had sent to him.

Stepping in, the first thing that captured his attention was the state of the room.

To Jake and Ruby, it wasn’t that bad seeing that it had taken less damage than they had initially anticipated.

To an outsider like Kieran though, it looked like a small war had gone off here. The dents and cracks that snaked the walls only made him feel more pity for whoever was going to handle the cost of damages.

He knew for a fact that even if he had the money, his pocket was still going to cry blood tears.

"What the hell did you even do here?!"

Kieran asked, unable to hold back the question.

"Ah, this?! We just got a little carried away!"

Jake said scratching the back of his head while looking around.

None of the awkwardness Ruby had shown when talking to him could be seen om his face nice sensed in the air around him.

’Good!’

Kieran thought, predicting that the conversation could go a little smother and faster than the one before.

"Alright then. What did you need to talk about?"

Jake asked in the sa manner of speech Kieran recalled and a small smile appeared on his face. It was nice to know that bot everyone around him had changed completely.

Jake looked like he still retained a lot of his behavior.

"It’s Ruby!"

Kieran spilled the beans and the air in the room stiffened and Jake paused his action of cleaning the training to look at him.

"What about her?"

Jake asked after a while, feigning ignorance.

"Oh! Don’t shit Jake! What exactly is going on?"

Kieran asked, his tone actually contained a few hints of frustration.

Jake could sense that Kieran ant business, even from where he sat.

Listening to those words for a while, Jake went silent for another period of ti a serious pondering expression was present on his face and after a while, he finally spoke up.

"What and why exactly do you want to know?"

Jake took a step back and turned the question table at Kieran who answered without any problems.

"Everything, because I’m her friend!"

Kieran’s tone was absolute giving no room for argunt.

Jake on the other had gone silent for the third ti in a row.

He had promised Ruby a while back that he would take care of Kieran, but he was starting to wonder if keeping him out was in fact the right thing to do.

"I’m sure you’ve been noticing her weird behavior. I’ve only been out for a few days and I could spot it almost instantly. I don’t believe you’re that blind."

Kieran’s words were accurate and Jake sunk deeper into his thoughts as he wondered whether to break her trust and spill the beans to Kieran in hopes that they could do sothing about her current situation.

’It’s been spilled at that party anyways. It was only a matter of ti!’

Kieran didn’t make any comnts as he waited patiently for Jake to co to a decision.

Jake on the other hand didn’t leave his his old friend and comrade waiting for long and he finally spoke.

"It’s just like you heard back at the gathering. Ruby was adopted by the fallen Gale family."

"That can’t be all to it right?"

Kieran muttered with a raised eyebrow.

Jake sighed and continued.

"As you later found out, Ruby and I had actually known each other for a long ti before the camp. The head of her Gale family was a close friend and companion to the head of my Blaze family, and naturally, both familes were close and their descendants interacted with each other, facilitating a strong bond between both familes!"

"I was introduced to Ruby by the head of my family when I was just ten and I was tasked with helping her loosen up since she was just brought into the family. You see, Ruby’s biological parents were unknown to everyone. The head of the Gale family at that ti didn’t say anything about them, but I doubt even he knew anything about them"

"Over ti, we beca close and she finally managed to fit in and accept the head and the Gale family as her new ho and parents. A place where she fit in and was accepted."

Jake said, his expression turning dark as he continued.

"I don’t know what happened before she was picked up by the Gale head, but it was a sort of forbidden topic with her. She had never said what she went through, even now, she wouldn’t spill if I asked her."

"What I do know for a fact is that whatever she experienced really had a significant effect on her whole personality and the sudden change in atmosphere and feelings of affection that had been given to her by the head of the Gake family made her idolize him to an extent."

"She would willing lay her life for the family if they even asked. The head never had a child and treated Ruby the way he would have treated his own. The other children and mbers of the Gale family didn’t seem to mind this either!"

"They were a small clan of specialists who ran several dojo businesses around the city at the ti. The head didn’t place any huge ambitions on the shoulders of his family, which is a reason why this ca as a surprise."

"They Gale family had a lineage they took pride in. A lineage of forgotten weapons!"

Kieran’s ears ticked at the ntion of forgotten weapons. His scythe was one of the forgotten weapons. Weapons whose legacy was so small and hard to find and decode that humanity had labeled them pointless. The weapons which were destined to be thrown into the void, until they fell into the right hands.

It was a rather huge surprise to hear the ntion of Ruby’s Gale family and forgotten weapons in the sa sentence. The ntion that it was an inheritance only made him more curious.

"What inheritance?"

Kieran asked, curiosity burning in his black eyes.

"They had a discovered a thod of reviving the legacy of forgotten weapons!"

Jake said lightly about Kieran felt his mind get blown away in shock.

If what Jake said was true, then a small secluded family with no wish of getting too involved in the world held the solution to what humanity had struggled to do and given up on.

That was sothing beyond his expectations.

"It’s not as simple as you think though. They possessed the way didn’t an it was a magical device that automatically decoded the legacy behind a forgotten weapon"

Jake said, dumping water over Kieran’s imagination, making him look at things in a more reasonable way.

"It took years, sotis whole generations to recover and revive the legacy of a forgotten weapon. Despite all their efforts, they only managed to fully revive the legacy of a single forgotten weapon; the kusarigama!"

Jake said and Kieran was reminded of the similarities the weapon bore with his scythe. It always made wonder how his scythe was a forbidden weapon and that wasn’t.

Jake had just solved that puzzle for him.

"Each generation, the Gales would send a small number of their young ones out to into the world, to venture and bring back as many legacy pieces of forgotten weapons that they could find!"

"This was the process the Gales used to get the material needed to be restored and decoded. Yet despite doing that for several generations, they had only manged to revive the kusarigama. That was the pride of the family. They had even made it their unique weapon of choice."

Jake’s words made Kieran realize just how hard it was to restore the legacy of a forgotten weapon.

"One thing they didn’t know was that, while they were trying their best to take on the will of their predecessors; reviving the forgotten weapons. There were other groups out there who either didn’t want that or just wanted it for themselves."

"They saw it as an opportunity for them. And they approached the Gale family, holding one of the ones they had sent out on the exploration journey hostage. In return, they demanded for the thod of revival. The greatest secret of the family."

"The Gale family was everything from kind and rciful to cold and decisive, but one there was one thing they were not. Cowards."

"The family rejected the offer stubbornly and that was were things all went wrong!"

Jake’s voice beca very low, hiding so pain within it.

"In a single night, they were exterminated!"
