The next morning.
Luke and David decided to visit the individuals related to the "Telson Missing Person Case".
Twenty years ago, these people had given statents.
Now, with new clues, they needed to take statents again, perhaps they could learn more from them.
However, twenty years had passed, and it wasn't easy to find them again; many had moved and changed their contact information.
The first person they sought was the chef, Salman Khan. According to Hans Miller, his wife had trusted the chef, who had worked in their ho for about a decade.
Regrettably, Salman Khan's mobile phone number was no longer in use.
The two found his address, but he had moved away ten years ago.
Left with no choice, they had to move on to the next target.
The maid of the manor, Cindy Bout.
Cindy Bout had not left a mobile number; back then, not everyone had a cell phone.
They drove directly to her ho address.
A white two-story villa, surrounded by a small 200-square-ter courtyard, with flowers and plants that lent a lived-in atmosphere.
That was the advantage of living in a small city: relaxed, comfortable, and with cheaper housing prices.
The two walked up to the door and knocked.
"Creak..." After a while, the door was opened.
A woman in her twenties stood at the door, "Who are you looking for?"
"Does Cindy Bout live here?"
"Yes, who are you?"
Luke flashed his badge, "LAPD."
"Wow... I've only seen it on TV, are you real?"
"Of course. What is your relationship with Cindy Bout?"
"She's my mother."
"Is she ho?"
"She's ho. What do you need?"
"We'd like to ask her so questions. Please call her out."
"Mom, the Los Angeles Police are looking for you."
After a while, a woman in her fifties ca downstairs and looked toward the front door, "Police? What do you want with ?"
Luke examined the woman and asked, "Are you Ms. Cindy Bout?"
"I am, but I haven't reported anything."
"We're here to ask about the 'Telson Manor missing person case'."
"What? It's been twenty years, you're not scamrs, are you?"
Luke showed his badge again, "So new clues have erged in the case; we need to take a new statent from you."
Cindy Bout was stunned for a mont, "OK, but it's just so unbelievable."
"May we co in and talk?"
"Certainly." Cindy invited them into the house and ordered her daughter, "Make two cups of coffee."
Luke entered the living room and observed the surroundings; the house was very clean.
Cindy gestured for them to sit on the couch and asked, "Have you found Mrs. Anna? Is she alright?"
"We have indeed discovered so clues about Anna, but we can't be certain just yet."
"So what do you want with ?"
"We have so questions to ask."
"OK, go ahead."
Cindy's daughter ca with a tray, placed three cups of coffee on the coffee table, and then left the living room.
Luke continued, "Have you recalled any new leads regarding the 'Telson Manor missing person case' over the recent years?"
"Co on, it's been twenty years; I can barely rember Mrs. Anna's face."
"Do you know Salman Khan?"
"The Asian chef at the manor?"
"Yes, do you have his contact information or know where he lives?"
"No."
Luke pulled out a sketch of Cole, "Do you recognize him?"
Cindy took a close look, "He looks familiar... oh, is it him? The manor's driver who was treated as a suspect?"
"Yes, do you know his whereabouts?"
"No, I rember he was made a suspect twenty years ago and didn't dare co back to Haim City."
Luke took out another photo of Tony, "Do you recognize him?"
Cindy picked up the photo and looked carefully, then shook her head, "I don't recognize him."
Luke didn't give up and took out a photo of Lorne, "What about this man?"
Again, Cindy shook her head, "No impression."
Luke nodded, collected the photos, "We are looking for people who worked at the estate back then, are you still in contact with any of them? Even an address would be helpful."
Cindy thought for a mont, "Wow, it's been so long, I have to think hard... Oh right, I've seen George, he lives here in Haim City, he used to be a gardener at Telson Estate."
After obtaining the address, Luke and his companion bid farewell and left.
George's house wasn't far, just a few minutes by car.
Luke once again knocked on George's door, and an African Arican woman in her sixties opened it.
"Who are you looking for?"
"LAPD, we are investigating the 'Telson Estate Disappearance Case' and would like to talk to George for so information."
The elderly woman thought for a mont, "The case from twenty years ago?"
"Yes."
"You're not scamrs, are you? I'm old but not foolish."
Luke showed his badge, "We just ca from Cindy's place, she told us George also used to work at Telson Estate."
"OK, co in," the elderly lady stepped aside and called into the house, "George, you've got visitors."
After a while, a black man in his seventies with salt-and-pepper hair ca out, "What visitors? Are you hiring to do garden work? What kind?"
The elderly lady explained, "No, they're police officers, they want to ask you about the Telson Estate."
"What estate? Tyson Estate? The boxing one? Is he hiring as a gardener?
Oh my God, I heard he keeps a big tiger, what a freak.
But, I like it."
The elderly woman spread her hands, "No, it's Telson, the place you used to work at."
"I've been a gardener my whole life, I've worked at many places, can't rember them all." The old man looked at Luke and David, "You are police officers?"
"Yes."
"Not even the police station can do that, I won't give any discounts, don't even think about it."
Luke "..."
Shaking her head, the elderly woman said, "Sorry, he's old and started to have dentia last year. He's usually more lucid after his nap, you might want to co back then."
David and Luke left the house with puzzled faces.
Comforting himself, David said, "It's a twenty-year-old case after all, it's normal that it's hard to investigate."
Luke got into the car, "Where to now?"
David picked up his notebook and made a mark with the pen, "Next one."
...
Half an hour later, they found Shanny Cabin, who had worked as a cook at Telson Estate.
Shanny Cabin was now a woman in her fifties, running a small tavern, over five feet tall, with a waistline nearly matching her height.
Luke felt that she might weigh more than he did.
After explaining their purpose, Shanny Cabin was very hospitable, "Oh, Telson Estate, I still rember. The one working with was Salman Khan, he made delicious curry mutton."
"Do you still keep in touch with him?"
"No," whispered Shanny Cabin, "My husband would get jealous."
Luke agreed against his will, "Of course, he would." Then he abruptly changed the subject, "In these recent years, have you rembered any new clues about the 'Telson Estate Disappearance Case'?"
"I was already dismissed at that ti and wasn't very clear about that case, it wasn't related to ."
Luke then asked her to assist with photo identification.
When she saw the photo of Tony, Shanny seed to rember sothing, "This man... looks sowhat familiar."
"Where have you seen him?"
"I'm not quite sure, he looks much older than my mory of him."
"This is his recent photo, his na is Tony, think hard..."
"Tony, Tony…" Shanny Cabin muttered, "I rember now, he seed to be the boyfriend of a maid at the estate."
Luke frowned slightly, "Is that maid Cindy Bout?"
"Yeah, that's right, Cindy, I haven't seen her for so many years, I almost couldn't recall."
Luke and his companion said goodbye and imdiately returned to Cindy Bout's house.
David slamd his hands on the steering wheel, "Fuck, she tricked us."
Luke thought to himself, no wonder Cindy Bout could give the address of old George's house; George had dentia and wouldn't be able to rember Tony's identity.
This could shift the police's focus and buy her ti to escape.
