At 10 p.m., Daisy's house.

Sounds of playing poker emanated from the bedroom.

The listener's face flushed with excitent.

Half an hour later, Luke lay in bed checking his phone, feeling sowhat worn out after exercising.

Daisy erged from the bathroom, her face covered with a mask, wearing a light nightgown that subtly revealed her shapely figure. She lifted the blanket and lay down on the other side of the bed.

"Where have you been these past few days? Why haven't you contacted ?"

Luke put down his phone and stroked her brown hair, "Do you really want to know?"

"I was just asking casually. If it's inconvenient to say, never mind."

"I went to Cruise Manor."

"What?" Daisy looked surprised, "You an Cruise Manor?"

"Yes, the manor is beautiful. I even learned how to ride a horse and t so new friends."

"Why did you go there?"

"Mr. Cruise was preparing to get engaged to his girlfriend. A few days before the engagent, he received an anonymous threatening letter. Soone didn't want him to go through with the engagent ceremony. Mr. Cruise, to ensure the ceremony proceeded smoothly, commissioned the Pinkerton Detective Agency to investigate the matter.

The commission was very lucrative, so I took on the assignnt."

Daisy turned her head to look at Luke, "What did you find out?"

"The threatening letter was written by Manny. I talked to him and told him that what he was doing was wrong. He was convinced by , and he actively approached Mr. Cruise to admit his mistake."

"So, you t my mother and Erin as well?"

"Yes, I felt I had seen your mother before the first ti I t her. I also talked with your stepfather. He, too, had received a threatening letter, but it wasn't from Manny, it was from Lawrence Miller."

Daisy's eyebrows furrowed slightly, and she appeared a bit nervous, "I knew he wouldn't let things go. What does he want to do?"

"He found out about Mr. Cruise's engagent ceremony, knew that many friends and relatives would be invited, and wanted to cause a big scene there to disgrace the Cruise family."

"Why would he do that? What's in it for him?"

"There's no benefit. So people just love to harm others without benefiting themselves.

They never reflect on their own mistakes when they encounter hardships and setbacks, but rather habitually bla the people around them.

As long as they see others unhappy, they feel content."

"You're right. It's very much in his style to do sothing like that.

How did you stop him?"

"I stopped him on his way to Cruise Manor, trying to talk him out of it, but he wouldn't listen.

Latter, I gave him five hundred US dollars to leave Los Angeles, and he agreed."

"He must be deceiving you.

Five hundred dollars could never satisfy him."

"You're right. Not long after I left, he turned back and headed for Cruise Manor.

Then, he was intercepted by other security personnel who weren't as polite as I was. They gave him a beating and sent him away."

"Thank you. If it weren't for you stopping him, it would have been very embarrassing for my mother..." Daisy leaned on Luke's shoulder, silent for a mont,

"But knowing Lawrence Miller as I do, after such a setback, he will definitely co looking for trouble again."

Luke said, "I think so too."

"What do you think I should do?" Daisy sighed. Although she was an excellent lawyer capable of solving her clients' problems with ease, it was hard for a judge to try his own family issues. Facing such a desperado of a father was also troubling for her.

Luke reached out and touched her chest, "Beg , and I'll tell you."

Daisy pushed Luke's hand away, "Stop it, I'm talking business here."

"Two solutions. First, you handle it yourself.

Second, let handle it."

Daisy thought it over. Unless Lawrence Miller took extre actions, the law couldn't really restrain him.

And she couldn't keep waiting forever. There's only ever a thief for a thousand days, not a guard for a thousand days.

"How would you handle it?"

"If you let handle it, just trust , and don't ask too much."

"I just don't want him to affect you, isn't it not worth it for him?"

Luke nonchalantly said, "Of all the people I've t, he can't even qualify as a clown. Dealing with him won't affect in the slightest.

On the contrary, if I really beat him badly, you won't bla for ddling, will you?"

Daisy shook her head, "If I blad you over sothing like this, what would make different from him? Whatever you decide to do, just go ahead."

"That's all I needed to hear."

In the past, Luke was hesitant to get involved in the conflict between Daisy and her father, as he feared being in a no-win situation. But now his mindset had sowhat shifted.

Luke dealing with Daisy's father was to help Daisy.

If Daisy's father got hurt and Daisy blad Luke over this, there was no need for the two of them to continue their relationship.

In essence, in his relationship with Daisy, Luke beca increasingly straightforward and unconflicted, with a clear conscience.

...

The next morning.

Luke and Daisy had breakfast at a restaurant in the downtown area.

Daisy then went to work.

Luke on the other hand, went to the Pinkerton Detective Agency.

"Knock knock," Luke knocked on Orty's office door.

"Co in."

Luke pushed the door open and walked into the office, holding a cup of coffee, "Good morning, beautiful. This is for you."

"Thank you, you're so thoughtful." Orty smiled and approached, gesturing for Luke to sit on the sofa, "You did a great job on this commission. Mr. Cruise even made a special call to thank ."
