The Arican police system is complex and varied, with the Departnt of Holand Security, FBI, DEA (Drug Enforcent Agency), and CIA also playing roles.
Each city's police departnt varies in size, and many cities, due to budget constraints, do not have their own drug enforcent teams, so this responsibility falls directly to the DEA.
Los Angeles is a large city and has the funds to maintain a specialized drug enforcent unit.
An hour later, the Los Angeles drug enforcent unit arrived at Logan Salmo's house.
Luke made a brief handover with them.
There are two benefits to handing the case over to the drug enforcent unit instead of the DEA: one is the ease of transition, and the other is that the departnt issues a bonus.
Luke was also able to earn so extra money.
He was looking forward to next month's paycheck.
…
As team mbers gradually returned, Susan convened a eting with everyone.
In the eting room.
Susan sat in the main seat, scanned everyone present, and her gaze settled on Luke, "Captain Jones from the drug enforcent team just called to express his thanks, Luke, well done."
The deputy chief also said, "Yeah, your recent performance has indeed been outstanding, reminiscent of in my younger days."
Luke smiled. This old man really couldn't give complints well; he didn't want to spend half his life just being a deputy.
Susan said, "OK, let's move on to discuss the will case.
Deputy, please summarize this case."
The deputy opened his notebook and glanced at it, "This case is not actually complex, but the sequence of the criminal's actions was sowhat disordered.
We first learned of this case on March 3rd when Daisy was robbed. At that ti, the suspect intentionally mimicked a Taser robbery to avoid attracting police attention.
Later, Luke found out that Daisy's house had caras, which revealed that the case was not simple and led to the discovery of Lorne being attacked.
Through investigating Lorne's assault, Tony's body was discovered.
Then Caroline disappeared.
Lorne fled.
This was the process of the investigation, but not the sequence in which the incidents occurred."
The deputy took a sip of coffee and continued, "Though I've been out of the field, I've been compiling information and have clarified the situation of the case.
According to the statent of the suspect Tim, the mastermind behind this is Cole Becker, whom Matthew checked out, and it's a fake identity. The only information on him is a sketch portrait.
Based on my deduction, the perpetrator Cole knew the victims Tony and Lorne long ago, and many years back they ca into a fortune.
Among the fortunes was an Impressionist masterpiece by Schelder Hasen.
All related cases in the will were triggered by this painting."
Marcus curiously asked, "Is this painting very expensive?"
The deputy chuckled, "Bill Gates has a painting by Hasen in his house, what do you think?"
Marcus's eyes widened, "Oh my God, I like it!"
"Not just you, Cole Becker likes it too," the deputy continued, "I suspect that when they originally split the loot, it was not even, and the painting was likely in Tony and Lorne's hands.
Cole, in his quest to get the painting, first kidnapped Tony, but since the painting wasn't with Tony, he then attacked Lorne.
Lorne told Cole where the painting was stored in a warehouse.
Cole, accompanied by Tim and Tony, rushed to the warehouse, but they did not find the painting there. In a fit of rage, Cole killed Tony.
Cole still wanted to continue searching for the painting, but since Lorne had fallen into a coma, he decided to check Lorne's will for clues about the painting.
According to Tim's statent, Cole was also injured while killing Tony, so he ordered Tim to steal the will from Daisy.
However, Tim was caught by Luke.
After Cole recovered from his injuries, he broke into Daisy's house and installed a cara, and was again discovered by Luke, leading to the police's involvent.
The fact that Lorne fled indicates that their fortune acquired years ago might not have been clean.
Lorne was not only afraid of Cole but also fearful of the police."
Marcus said, "So, you're saying the whole case has nothing to do with Lorne's children?"
The deputy nodded, "From what we see now, it seems the children have indeed been doing as Lorne instructed."
Susan placed a sketch portrait on the projector, "OK, we've applied for a warrant for the suspect Cole Becker, here's his portrait."
Marcus asked, "Where is Lorne?"
Susan replied, "The suspects in the will case are Cole Becker and Tim.
Lorne is the victim, he just escaped police protection, and that doesn't prove his guilt.
His past experience is just the deputy leader's speculation, there is no evidence to prove his guilt."
Susan continued, "Marcus, is there a way to find Cole Becker?"
"If he's in Los Angeles, I can try, but if he's out of town, I'm powerless."
The deputy leader said, "Actually, I do have a thod, we might be able to find so clues about Cole Becker…"
...
The next morning.
Robbery and Murder Departnt interrogation room.
Lawyer Dave was brought into the interrogation room.
The deputy leader and Marcus were responsible for the interrogation.
The other team mbers stayed in the observation room.
David also returned to the team and pointing behind the glass, "Don't you think this combination is a bit odd?"
Luke laughed, "Dave likes Marcus."
Dave looked at the deputy leader and Marcus, then at the walls around him, "Is Officer Luke here? I prefer him."
"Hey, hey, look over here," Marcus knocked on the table, "What do you think this place is?"
"I've already confessed, what else do you want?" Dave glared at the deputy leader, "Is it only if I admit to killing Steven that you'll let go?"
The deputy leader took the opportunity to ask, "So, you admit that you killed Steven?"
"No, I've said it a hundred tis, that kid ran off to xico to have a good ti."
The deputy leader countered, "You've been caught, his warrant has been dropped, why hasn't he co back?"
"That's xico, anything could happen there, maybe he fell for a xican woman and settled down there, xican beauties are famously passionate.
Of course, xican gangs are not to be trifled with, walking around xico with forty thousand US dollars... I've been praying to God, hoping he would co back safely."
"Dave, put away your crocodile tears, it's disgusting." Dave waved his hand, "I ca here today, not to talk about Steven, but about Tony."
Dave sighed, "Now it's Tony?"
"Tony was indeed murdered."
"It's unrelated to ."
Marcus stood up and handed several photos to Dave, "Don't get so scared you wet your pants."
Dave looked at the photos and his expression grew increasingly ugly, he banged the interrogation chair hard, "Fuck! Fuck…"
"Stop! Why are you so agitated?"
"Who killed Tony?"
"What was your relationship with Tony?"
Dave took a deep breath, cald himself, "A friend."
The deputy leader instantly said, "Since he's a friend, we'd like to ask you for so clues to help us catch the murderer of Tony sooner."
Dave countered without answering, "When did Tony die?"
"Hey, it's supposed we ask you that, OK?" The deputy leader took control, asking again, "Who is Tony Will's real identity?"
Dave remained silent for a long ti, "Sorry, I'm not going to tell you."
The deputy leader threw the pen away, leaning back in his chair, "Your lack of cooperation ans the murderer of Tony will go unpunished, is that how you treat a friend?"
"I am willing to cooperate, but not with you."
"Hmph." The deputy leader snorted, "Who do you want to talk to?"
"The prosecutor."
The deputy leader's face darkened, "Listen, you talk to first, if the information you provide is valuable, I'll help you apply for a reduced sentence."
Dave laughed derisively, "I am a lawyer."
