The Black female thief was handcuffed again and escorted back to the police car. Luke took a slight interest in her and asked, "What's your na?"
The Black female thief laughed, "Only now you think to ask my na?"
Initially, Luke didn't pay much attention to the young thief, but now seeing her slick escape skills, he was more intrigued.
"It's not that I like your attitude. I'm considering whether to bring your little buddy back to keep you company. Maybe your attitude will improve."
"No, please don't do that. I'm willing to cooperate with your investigation.
Aisia Alse, that's my na," the female thief imdiately softened.
"How did you unlock the handcuffs?"
Aisia Alse showed a hesitant expression.
"Co on, demonstrate for us. We won't hold it against you for trying to escape just now," Luke offered her a small incentive.
"Are you serious?"
"Of course."
Aisia Alse asked, "Can you make that decision?"
Luke looked over at John.
John, grabbing his belt with both hands, shrugged, "You're the boss."
This wasn't anything to brag about, and John didn't want anyone to know.
Luke, intrigued, said, "It's showti. Let's see how you did it."
Aisia Alse, with her hands cuffed behind her back, twisted her body, reaching two fingers into her back pocket to pull out a wire. She skillfully inserted it into the lock, jiggling it a few tis until one side of the handcuff opened, then unlocked the other side.
The whole process took less than a minute.
John's eyes widened in amazent, "Wow... we've got a cat burglar here."
Luke asked, "Did you unlock the convenience store like this too?"
"Yes, that one was even easier."
"What else can you do?"
"Car locks, door locks, electronic locks, and safes..."
Realizing the implication, Aisia Alse quickly added, "Listen, I've just learned how, never actually done it.
This is my first ti truly stealing sothing."
Luke didn't buy her bullshit. Mastery of this kind of skill cos from practice; she was definitely a habitual thief.
However, Luke was more interested in her lockpicking skills.
Luke had previously received a Lock Opening Card as a system reward but never had the chance to learn. Wasn't this a perfect opportunity?
"Hey guys, I reached the convenience store owner. He left in a hurry and is on his way here." Lucy arrived beside the police car and, puzzled, asked, "What happened? Why are her handcuffs off?"
John said, "We didn't unlock them; she did it herself."
"Seriously?"
"Yes, her lockpicking skill is impressive."
Lucy took out handcuffs and refastened Aisia Alse, "Can you demonstrate again?"
Aisia Alse "..."
...
Morning.
Palisades Community, the Luke family.
Luke sat in the small yard drinking tea. Unknowingly, he had been living here for over a year.
When the lease was up, he renewed it for another six months.
Now the mansion in the Palisades Community was almost done. After official acceptance, choosing furniture, and letting it air out for a period, he could move in.
Thinking about leaving here soon, Luke felt a bit reluctant. Though the house wasn't luxurious and the yard was small, it was his first ho in Los Angeles.
"Ringing..." Luke's phone rang, displaying Lilith's number on the screen.
"Hi, beautiful, good morning."
"I'm in New York now, and it's already noon."
Luke envied, "The life of the rich is indeed lavish; go wherever you want."
"You're about to beco wealthy too. That batch of treasure has been dealt with, fetching a higher price than expected. After taxes, you'll get about $2.6 million."
"Glad you told this news first thing in the morning. I believe I'll have a delightful Sunday." Luke was well aware; even with so assets now, he was far from genuinely wealthy.
"Luke, I'm planning a celebratory treasure hunt party and want to invite you."
"A treasure hunt celebration party?"
"Yes."
"You're not serious, are you?"
"Of course, I am. Is there a problem?"
Luke shrugged. He preferred to be discreet about treasure hunting, rarely boasting about it, let alone throwing a party for it.
Perhaps this is the difference between the rich and ordinary people.
For ordinary people, suddenly gaining a large sum of money would bring significant changes to their lives. Most of his friends were also ordinary people, and jealousy might arise, leading to so negative effects.
But for the rich, so-called treasure is rely a 'nice inco,' not greatly altering their life. People around them don't care much, seeing it more as party banter.
"Sorry, I'm busy with a case and might not make it to the party."
"That's a sha; I wanted to introduce you to my friends."
"Maybe next ti." Luke didn't think he could have much in common with that group of rich kids.
"Can I talk about our treasure hunt as a story?"
"Of course, I trust you're a smart girl, knowing what should be said and what shouldn't."
