Carlos gazed out the window, "They ca so quickly, it seems my words have drawn enough attention."
As the people in the car got out one after another, Carlos felt sothing was off, "They don't look like police, they're wearing FBI uniforms."
Carlos stood up and walked to the entrance of the restaurant.
A few people in FBI uniforms walked in as well. Leading them was a white man in his thirties, scanning the restaurant with his eyes, "Which one of you is Consultant Lee?"
"That would be ." Luke stood up.
"I'm Agent Wesley Lick from the Colorado Division of the FBI.
We received a call from Supervisor Anthony, saying you captured two fugitives in Red Rock Canyon."
"Yes, my na is Luke Lee.
Those two fugitives have already been killed by . Should I take you to the scene?"
"Consultant Lee, I've heard your na before, it's an honor to work with you." Wesley Lick extended his hand to shake with Luke.
"Let's talk on the way, I'm worried the bodies might be attacked by wild animals."
"Alright."
"Did you bring field investigators and a forensic doctor?"
"I've already notified them, they'll arrive shortly."
"OK, then let's head out first." Luke gave Walker a few instructions, then turned to the xican cowboy beside him, "Administrator Carlos, do you want to co along?"
"So you're actually FBI?" Carlos finally ca to his senses, "Of course, I'll join you, it's my responsibility."
Afterwards, Luke led the FBI to the two shooting scenes, sent them the initial site photos, and detailed the situation at that ti.
After explaining the situation, Luke returned to the resting area to et up with Walker.
Walker had been holed up in the car, not daring to co out. When Luke ca back, it was ti for dinner, and the two celebrated with a bottle of champagne.
However, both were restrained and didn't dare drink too much.
At night, Luke and Walker closed all windows and curtains tightly, brought out the treasure chest, and opened the lid, the light revealing a glittering gold scene once again.
Since obtaining the treasure, neither had the ti to carefully observe it, so they planned to sort and weigh the gold items tonight.
Walker grabbed gold from the wooden box and placed it on an electronic scale, recording a number for each pile.
"What's this?" At the bottom of the box, Walker found a piece of brown leather. He picked it up and saw so patterns on it, "Is this a new treasure map?"
Luke leaned in to check too, "Could it be Forest Finn's third treasure map?"
Walker compared the newly found treasure map with the previous treasure map, "No, it's a completely different style, this shouldn't be one of Forest Finn's maps.
But then why was it in this treasure chest?"
Luke thought for a mont and said, "This afternoon, the FBI dug up several bodies near Marlon Bax's camp. Marlon Bax must have killed quite a few treasure hunters.
This treasure map might have been obtained from a treasure hunter. The location marked on the map isn't Red Rock Canyon, and since they couldn't leave Red Rock Canyon, the map was of little use to them and was likely tossed into the treasure chest."
Walker nodded, his eyes fixated on the new treasure map, "This represents a new adventure journey, a new treasure!"
Luke cut off his fantasies, "Do you have more vacation ti? Anyway, my leave is almost over."
Walker felt a bit deflated, "I can study the map first, and once the treasure's position is determined, we can set out."
"Waiting for your good news." Luke stretched lazily. He had a lot to do, and it seed unlikely he'd have the chance to go treasure hunting soon.
Moreover, treasure hunting wasn't as easy as imagined, and it wasn't possible to find treasure every ti. This ti was more reliant on luck.
