This ti the sound was much closer, and it seed to be more than just one; it was more like a pack of wolves.

Luke checked the doors and windows, ensuring they were locked to prevent animals from sneaking in at night.

"Awoo..." Another wolf howl echoed, much closer now, and Luke had a sinking feeling.

Soon, his premonition ca true.

The cries of the wolves ca closer, and through the camper van window, Luke saw the shadows of the pack.

The pack wasn't large, probably only seven or eight wolves. They had gray fur, weren't big, about forty to fifty centiters tall, and not quite a ter in length.

At this mont, the wolves were near the camper van.

Luke could clearly see their appearance, narrow mouths showing sharp teeth, long ears standing upright, tails naturally drooping; they were likely coyotes.

Walker started checking the camper van's surveillance, "Why are these ugly little creatures circling my camper van? Has sothing attracted them?"

"Bang..." a sound.

One wolf knocked over the barbecue grill.

Another wolf tore open the garbage bag, licking the trash inside.

Luke speculated, "They were probably attracted by the sll of grilled lamb chops; these guys have noses sharper than dogs."

Walker said, "I don't want them wandering around my doorstep. I need to figure out a way to chase them off."

Walker opened the drawer and took out his revolver.

Luke asked, "What are you planning to do?"

"Open the window, show them so color, and let you witness my shooting skills.

This revolver is definitely more effective than your Glock." Walker loaded the revolver with larger caliber bullets.

"Are you sure you want to open the window? If they see a chance, they might jump up and bite off your hand." Luke glanced into the darkness outside the window, suspecting more coyotes lurking.

"Then what do you suggest? Are we just going to watch these creatures run wild outside?

Oh my God, did you see that? That beast is peeing on my camper van!" Walker beca increasingly angry.

Their conversation inside the camper van might have caught the coyotes' attention.

One coyote started scratching the camper door, making a scratching sound.

"Fuck! This is my newly bought camper van." Walker was furious, "Luke, we have to do sothing, drive these beasts away imdiately."

Luke said, "Unload the bullets, fire a blank, and see if we can scare them off."

"Will it work?"

"We won't know until we try, better than sitting here foolishly." Luke proposed a more cautious approach.

If the coyotes were far away, shooting through the window would be feasible, but because they were around the camper, shooting might prompt them to attack through the window.

In the darkness, coyotes had better vision, making them more proactive.

"Bang!" A gunshot rang out.

Luke and Walker were stunned.

Walker had just opened the revolver, yet hadn't completely unloaded the bullets, and he hadn't fired that shot.

Walker hurriedly reloaded the bullets he had removed.

Luke also stood up, gripping his gun.

Walker checked the camper's surveillance and looked out the window, "I didn't see anyone, but the sound resembles a shotgun; it seems to be nearby.

The good news is that the coyotes have run off."

The gunshot echoed through the canyon.

To the coyotes, the intimidation of a shotgun was greater, a threat rooted deep in their fear.

But for Walker and Luke, this was not necessarily good news either.

Coyotes posed a threat but not a significant danger, at most scratching the camper van without threatening the two n's safety, simply a minor nuisance.

But the man with the shotgun was different; he was likely nearby, yet neither Luke nor Walker had spotted him—whether he was friend or foe was unknown.

If it were dayti, Luke might have gotten out to investigate, trying to get to know the person.

But it was nightti now, pitch dark all around, unable to see how many people there were or what weapons they might have, so Luke dared not venture out.

Walker asked, "What do we do now?"

"Stay alert and wait a while.

If my guess is correct, whoever fired the shot will likely take further action, whether an enemy or a friend, we must be cautious."

Walker frowned, "Could it be soone trying to steal our treasure map?"

Luke thought for a mont, "I think it's unlikely.

First of all, we haven't told anyone we're seeking treasure, so the other party can't be sure of that.

Secondly, if they were really after the treasure map, they wouldn't have fired recklessly to draw our attention."

Walker shook his head, "Coming to a place this far, how many people are really here for tourism?

By the way, didn't we et an administrator this afternoon, should we contact him and ask what's going on?"

Luke also recalled that xican administrator. To be honest, he didn't trust the man much, always feeling he was hiding sothing.

This concealnt could be due to disciplinary reasons, not convenient to speak about.

Or perhaps to cover up certain things.

Moreover, he claid to be the Red Rock Canyon administrator without showing any credentials, so who could tell if it was true?

Let's wait a bit longer.

Luke decided to continue observing; he took out his binoculars to look through the window, but it was so dark outside he couldn't see far. The rightful source is novel_fіre

Luke observed for a while but found no suspicious figures; the surroundings were quiet, eerily silent, no signs of coyotes or people.
