In that single, razor-thin mont at the exact instant the purple-skinned man let his final word slip from his lips- the six Destruction Note Support ship cannons thundered as one, their barrels blazing with rciless intent.
"...?!"
The purple-skinned man slid his left foot back, stunned that they had actually fired at him again. His muscles tightened instinctively as he shifted into a full offensive stance, his posture radiating readiness to et all six incoming shots head-on without flinching.
But-
woosh woosh woosh woosh woosh woosh
All six shots scread past him, grazing the air beside his body before shooting straight behind him- then detonating violently.
BOOOOOOOOOOM
"..?"
He imdiately summoned an energy barrier behind him to disperse the force of the blast, the shimring wall rippling under the pressure. He scoffed internally, thinking what a pathetic, laughably desperate tactic this was-trying to hit him from a blind angle like so inexperienced novices.
But then his expression twisted-hard, fast, and ugly.
Those shots...
Those shots weren't ant for him at all.
They were aid directly at his wounded comrades- the ones lying behind him, already clinging to life after the first barrage. They had been barely opening their eyes... barely conscious... already on the brink.
Now, none of them showed even the faintest spark of life.
No movent.
No heartbeat.
Not even a recognizable body remained-no limbs intact, no faces left to identify. Only scattered remains.
"АААНН..."
His mouth dropped open, and a strange, broken sound escaped him. The expression on his face wasn't anger, nor sorrow... it was pure, unfiltered shock. A raw disbelief that almost froze his thoughts entirely.
Then a ksshh crackled through the air, followed by a calm chanical voice emanating from the Destruction Note vessel:
