Caleb approached the guild's desk, task paper in hand, ready to make his mission official. Behind the desk, a young man with sharp eyes and an earnest expression looked up as Caleb approached. "Good morning! I'm John, and I'll be handling your task registrations from here on out," he said, extending a hand in greeting.
As Caleb handed over the task paper, John's eyebrows raised slightly. "Ah, a C-ranked task, I see. Just a heads up, since you're new here, it's usual for adventurers to start with D or lower-ranked tasks. It helps you get accustod to how things work around here without jumping into the deep end too quickly."
Caleb smiled wryly, a twinkle in his eye. "I appreciate your concern, John, but despite my new status here, I'm not exactly new to handling challenging situations. I've wandered into the extre wilderness more than a few tis in my younger days," he lied smoothly, hoping to sway the staff mber's opinion.
John studied Caleb for a mont, as if trying to read the truth in his seasoned eyes. Finally, he nodded, marking the registration in the guild's ledger. "Well, your confidence speaks volus, and I trust you know your capabilities best. Just make sure you're fully prepared before you head out. C-ranked tasks can be unpredictable, and we wouldn't want you in over your head." Discover more content at My Virtual Library Empire
"Thank you, John. I'll make sure to be well-prepared," Caleb assured him, feeling a mix of excitent and anticipation stirring within him.
As Caleb turned to leave, John called out, "And don't hesitate to ask for advice or help from fellow adventurers. Everyone here started sowhere, and most are willing to share their experiences."
With a nod of acknowledgnt, Caleb stepped away from the desk, the C-ranked task now officially his to tackle.
...
In the midst of a sprawling swamp, Thomas and his group faced off against a towering monster. The creature was wolf-like in appearance, but far larger than any ordinary beast, standing at a staggering fifty ters tall. Its body was a vibrant yellow, emitting a foul stench that perated the air. The most striking feature, however, were its three long tongues, each flicking through the air as it snarled at the adventurers.
The group moved with practiced coordination, their voices echoing through the swamp as they called out instructions and warnings to one another. "Watch its left swing!" Thomas yelled, as he dodged a swipe from one of the creature's massive paws, the muddy water splashing around him.
"Keep it distracted! I'm going for its flank!" shouted another mber, Mia, as she darted toward the side of the beast, her movents swift and precise thanks to the enhanced agility from her new boots.
The equipnt they had received from the old man, Caleb, was proving its worth tenfold. Each piece not only enhanced their physical capabilities but also added unique visual effects that seed almost magical. Thomas's sword, now a gleaming silver tier weapon, emitted a faint glow that seed to cut through the swamp's gloom. Every strike he made was powered with increased force, sending shockwaves through the air.
The monster roared in frustration, unable to land a hit on the agile adventurers. In its fury, it snapped its jaws, obliterating two nearby trees, each five ters in diater, like they were re twigs. The trees fell with a heavy crash, sending birds scattering into the sky in panic.
Despite the monster's fearso strength, it was clear that it was outmatched. The group's new weapons allowed them to handle the creature with a level of ease that would have been impossible with their old gear.
Mia, wielding a newly crafted bow, released a series of arrows that sang through the air, each one finding its mark with unerring accuracy. The arrows burst into brilliant sparks upon impact, further disorienting the monster.
"Thanks to these new weapons, we're handling this much better than expected," Thomas noted with a grin, parrying another of the monster's attacks.
"Yeah, if we were still using our old stuff, we'd probably be swamp food by now," joked another teammate, wiping sweat from his brow as they prepared for another coordinated assault.
In a sudden burst of fury, the massive Bellwire Wolf unleashed one of its most formidable abilities. With a guttural growl that resonated through the swampy air, its body shimred and then split into two identical creatures. The adventurers were montarily taken aback. "Trouble," Thomas shouted, recognizing the move imdiately, "it's using the Ragnarok Clone!"
Fighting a Bellwire Wolf was challenging enough, but facing two simultaneously required quick thinking and flawless execution of their skills. "Bellwire Wolves are really troubleso," Thomas muttered, his grip tightening on his sword.
anwhile, Mia concentrated deeply, channeling her ki—a unique energy that set adventurers apart from ordinary people—into her hands and then directing it into her bow. Ki was not just a ans to strengthen the body; it had various applications, including nurous combat techniques. What Mia perford was a basic but crucial application: enhancing the power and accuracy of her arrows.
On the other side, Thomas prepared to use his special technique called "Bashing." He converted his ki into kinetic energy, creating a powerful shockwave that would emanate from his weapon. This technique was particularly effective in lee combat and ideal for dealing with multiple enemies due to its area-of-effect (AOE) capabilities.
As the cloned wolves charged, Thomas executed the Bashing technique. A visible shockwave surged from his sword, slamming into both creatures. The force of the impact sent them reeling back, their coordination montarily disrupted by the sheer power of the shockwave.
Mia released her ki-enhanced arrows, which flew with unerring precision and increased lethality. Each arrow struck true, further weakening the magical constructs.
Amidst the chaos, the original Bellwire Wolf, already weakened from the ongoing battle, attempted a final desperate attack. It howled loudly, a sound so powerful it caused the group to stagger, dizziness clouding their senses montarily.
However, their resilience and the effectiveness of their new weapons quickly allowed them to recover. With a final concerted effort, Thomas and Mia, along with their teammates, delivered the killing blows. The Bellwire Wolf's clones vanished as the original creature fell to the ground with a heavy thud, its life force extinguished.
Breathing heavily, the adventurers exchanged relieved glances, knowing they had overco a formidable foe. Thanks to their skill, ki techniques, and the superior quality of their new equipnt, they had survived another perilous encounter in the wild.
