Chapter 885: Chapter 867 Red Rock Emperor!
“This is an altar built by the Gana Tribe a hundred years ago.”
“It was built specially for us.”
Just as Rocky was completely engulfed by the mist, able only to see the steps beneath his feet, a man’s voice suddenly erged near his ear.
“Who’s there!”
Hearing the voice, Rocky instantly felt a chill down his spine. Already on high alert, he imdiately turned around and swung the scythe in his hand fiercely as he shouted. Unfortunately, the strike only sliced through the dense mist, leaving a fleeting gap that quickly knitted itself back together—there was no trace of a person at all.
Yet, though Rocky saw no one, the voice ca again.
“The Gana Tribe—have you heard of them?”
The voice reappeared by his ear, prompting Rocky to turn back again in haste. This ti, he saw the silhouette of a man standing in the midst of weapons!
“Who are you!”
Rocky was startled to see a human in such a place, but he didn’t let his guard down. Even an idiot could tell that it was highly unnatural for a person to appear here, especially after the enigmatic statents the man had just made. Having spent a long ti among Aniye, those living fossils of history, Rocky considered himself considerably knowledgeable, his understanding of history exceeding that of most. Yet, everything the man said was utterly foreign to him.
Unfortunately, the man offered no answers to Rocky’s questions. Instead, he stepped forward, walking out of the mist!
As the man erged from the mist, Rocky finally got a clear look at his appearance. He looked to be around forty years old, his square face radiating an air of solemnity. His attire was notably different from ordinary people; he was wearing an elaborate ceremonial robe, and not just any robe—it seed to be imperial attire!
Imperial. That word had vanished from the world since the Sky Era. In today’s world, there was only one individual who could be referred to as an emperor: the ruler of the Kafka Empire. After all, the Kafka Empire was the only true nation left under the sky.
Could it be… was this man from Kafka Empire’s wastelands?
Impossible. As soon as the thought erged, Rocky recognized how absurd it was. What were the odds of Kafka Empire’s emperor appearing atop Mist Mountain? It was a joke.
Yet, he wasn’t doubting what he’d seen. Though the age of emperors had dwindled to just one, Rocky had read nurous books describing emperors. The feeling this man evoked unmistakably matched what Rocky had encountered in those texts.
And as his mind flashed back to those written accounts, Rocky’s eyes widened. Suddenly, he realized he’d seen this man before!
“You—you’re… the Red Rock Emperor? Impossible, you died long ago!”
Fixing his gaze on the man before him, Rocky finally recognized him—it was none other than the legendary Red Rock Emperor of the Land Era’s twilight years!
During the final days of the Land Era, specifically after the demons began invading the land, humanity had tried to resist multiple tis but failed each ti. They couldn’t win major tactical victories, much less triumph in direct clashes. Yet of the handful of battles they succeeded in, the Red Rock Emperor had secured over half.
The Red Rock Emperor, the last sovereign of the Red Rock Empire, was arguably the empire’s most brilliant ruler. He personally led troops into battle against the demons and stood as one of the few commanders able to achieve victory in combat against the demons. He was undoubtedly one of the brightest stars of the Land Era’s twilight. Yet, he ultimately perished fighting the demons, his death marking the turning point when humanity faced total collapse.
Because of the Red Rock Emperor’s renown, even after over a century, his na continued to appear in books about the Land Era. Many of these tos even included portraits of him. So, when Rocky got a clear look at the man before him, recognition ca instantly—it was the Red Rock Emperor!
But how was that possible?
The Red Rock Emperor was a figure from over a century ago. He had died before the land fell into disarray. How could he still be alive?
As Rocky reeled in shock, the Red Rock Emperor standing before him froze for a mont as well, before a smile appeared on his face. “So, you know him.”
“What?”
The statent caused Rocky’s mind to halt—he knew him? The man before him wasn’t the Red Rock Emperor! Otherwise, why refer to himself as “him”?
“Who are you really?!”
Gripping the Magic Fang Scythe tightly across his chest, Rocky was on extre edge, like he would strike at any mont.
Yet, for all Rocky’s vigilance, the man remained unperturbed. Smiling faintly, he replied, “That man—he’s soone I killed. I’m rely borrowing his appearance.”
As he spoke, the man with the face identical to the Red Rock Emperor stepped back into the mist. Monts later, he ca out again—but this ti, his appearance drastically changed. He’d transford into a soldier of the Kafka Empire!
Having clashed with Kafka Empire’s forces multiple tis in years past, Rocky instantly recognized the uniform—it belonged to the Empire’s reconnaissance troops!
“This is my ability—to change my appearance into anything,”
Shooting Rocky a grin while disguised as an imperial scout, the man suddenly asked, “Tell —why do you have Leviathan’s fang?”
Leviathan, one of The Thirty-three Great Demons. Rocky’s Azure Fang originated from this Great Demon!
The mont Leviathan’s na escaped the man’s lips, even Rocky—no matter how slow to act—knew who he was facing: a Great Demon!
The shapeshifting man before him was undoubtedly one of The Thirty-three Great Demons! The realization hit Rocky like a thunderclap; there was no ti to reconsider before he swung his scythe at the man!
But the blade passed clean through—the man’s form wasn’t corporeal; it was mist itself.
“I thought… you were the one who killed Leviathan. Looks like that’s not the case,”
Shaking his head with disappointnt, the man stared at Rocky.
But Rocky had no ti to waste on explanations. Against an actual Great Demon, his chances of survival were slim at best. He quickly tried to pull the scythe back—but to no avail.
The blade, embedded in the mist-like form, stuck fast as if glued in place. No matter how much strength Rocky mustered, he couldn’t extract it.
“Let see your true form.”
And then, as the man’s calm words echoed, he raised an arm and grasped Rocky’s throat effortlessly—lifting him high into the air…!
