Chapter 881: Chapter 863: Dance of a Multitude of Demons (Part 1)
In an instant, Rocky darted forward dozens of ters, unable to spare a glance at the explosion behind him. He pushed his armor to accelerate once more, as the Magic Dragon had already unleashed its second fireball!
A deafening roar resounded. The forest was once again turned into a sea of flas, but Rocky narrowly evaded the attack with the speed of his armor. Yet, the third fireball ca crashing down.
Watching the third fireball descend like a massive teor headed straight for him, Rocky made a bold decision—not to dodge further. Instead, he soared into the air with a swift motion.
He had already realized that engaging in ground combat with the Magic Dragon while exposed was utterly out of the question. If nothing else, the relentless fireballs alone would be impossible to endure. His only option was to fight in the skies.
Propelling himself upward into the air, Rocky adjusted his direction mid-flight to narrowly dodge the incoming fireball. He brushed past it, narrowly avoiding impact. As he reached the open skies, he was t with the sight of the Magic Dragon, its massive wings flickering in the haze!
This wasn’t Rocky’s first encounter with a Magic Dragon. He had previously seen one when saving Wilton and later extorted several Magic Dragon corpses from the Sky Alliance. However, this was the first ti he was witnessing a live Magic Dragon at such close range.
No doubt about it—the difference between a living Magic Dragon and a dead one was astonishing. Even with several hundred ters of distance between them, Rocky felt an imnse pressure as he looked at the beast, especially when its colossal dragon head turned toward him. He could truly feel what it ant to be prey.
Indeed, that was precisely the case. Upon spotting Rocky, the Magic Dragon let out a furious roar before flapping its wings and charging directly toward him!
The Magic Dragon before him stretched over a hundred ters long, and the distance between them was only a few hundred ters. As it advanced, just a few wingbeats brought it dangerously close. With its gaping jaws wide open, it lunged to devour him.
Facing the blood-red maw rushing toward him, Rocky instantly accelerated to evade, darting tens of ters sideways to escape the beast’s bite. Then, with a sudden burst of motion, he dashed upward along the edge of the dragon’s mouth, landing atop its massive head. Raising the Magic Fang Scythe high, he struck down fiercely!
With one swing, the fully charged blade carved a gash across the Magic Dragon’s head. But here lay the difficulty of dealing with such creatures—their defensive power was so overwhelming that the term “tough hide and thick flesh” felt like an understatent. The sheer durability of the Magic Dragon Skin made even the Magic Fang Scythe barely able to cut through.
Though the wound was minor, the Magic Dragon had indeed been injured. Enraged, it let out a thunderous roar and began shaking its enormous head violently, ultimately flinging Rocky off its back.
Hurled through the air, Rocky quickly adjusted his posture to continue the battle. Yet, when he turned his gaze toward the Magic Dragon, he saw it change direction, flying away into the depths of the mist…
What…what just happened?
Rocky stood stunned, watching the gigantic outline of the Magic Dragon disappear into the mist. He couldn’t understand why the beast had left. Had he driven it away? Impossible! For a creature as massive as the Magic Dragon, the wound caused by the Magic Fang Scythe was negligible—there was no chance it would flee from such a minor injury. Could it be because of…
In his confusion, he glanced at the scythe in his hand, focusing particularly on the Azure Fang embedded at the tip. Was it due to the Azure Fang?
Rocky stared at the Azure Fang, still unable to figure out what had happened. Regardless, the Magic Dragon was gone, and that was all that mattered. With the imdiate crisis resolved, he began descending back to the ground.
Although the Magic Dragon had fled, Rocky dared not continue flying in the air. If the escaped Magic Dragon decided to return or another one showed up, the risks would be far too great. He resolved to travel on foot instead.
With that decision, Rocky pushed his armor’s speed to the maximum. Bounding from the branches of a large tree, he quickly covered several hundred ters in re monts. The area he had been in earlier had twice been ravaged by the Magic Dragon’s fireballs, creating such a commotion that it would surely draw the attention of every demon in Mist Mountain. Rocky needed to leave, fast.
It turned out his judgnt was spot-on. Not long after fleeing the area, demons began appearing from all directions in large numbers—all of them were high-level demons. Unfortunately for them, Rocky had already moved out of range.
But he didn’t get far before other demons intercepted him.
Standing on the trees, Rocky froze, barely daring to breathe. Heavy, rhythmic footsteps echoed closer and closer.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
Every reverberating step sent tremors through the ground. The tree Rocky was hiding in shook, scattering leaves. Following the path of the sound, Rocky’s eyes locked onto a massive figure over five ters tall, slowly approaching.
This enormous fra was pitch-black and glead with a tallic sheen—it was none other than the infamous Steel Fury Demon!
The Steel Fury Demon, a type of high-level demon, was notoriously difficult to deal with. Its entire body, inside and out, appeared as if forged from steel. In combat, encountering such a monstrosity ant Void Magic Warriors would struggle imnsely, as Void Magic Armor’s attacks were nearly ineffective against it. Only a warship’s main cannon could inflict significant damage.
Watching the Steel Fury Demon, enormous in stature and advancing step by step, Rocky cursed his luck. He had just eluded the Magic Dragon only to run into another troubleso opponent.
As Rocky deliberated, the Steel Fury Demon reached the base of the very tree he was hiding in. Even without noticing him, its casual movents could easily topple the tree—large as it was, it seed as fragile as a blade of grass next to the demon.
Fortunately, the Steel Fury Demon didn’t go berserk. After standing beneath the tree montarily, it turned and began walking away.
Phew…
Seeing the Steel Fury Demon turn away, Rocky exhaled deeply with relief. Thank goodness it hadn’t spotted him. If it had, disaster would’ve been inevitable. While Rocky felt confident he could deal with it, unlike the Two-headed Demon, he couldn’t guarantee a one-hit kill against the Steel Fury Demon. If a battle broke out, it would undoubtedly attract a horde of other demons, and that would be catastrophic.
But just as Rocky eased his nerves, preparing to leave after the Steel Fury Demon had gone a safe distance, the beast suddenly spun around and lifted its gaze toward the tree branches.
No…!
At that mont, Rocky knew he was done for. Instantly, his eyes t the eerie glow emanating from the Steel Fury Demon’s gaze.
