Ulysses imdiately opened the handwritten letter, which seed short. After a brief glance, he tucked it away.

It was clear that Ulysses wasn't much of a talker. "Is this your first ti in Tingen City?" he asked.

"Yes," Hobert smiled. "The scenery here is much prettier than in Backlund, but then again, Backlund's mist makes it impossible to see the city's views."

"At least it's bustling," Ulysses ignored Hobert's jest. "Commander Christian's telegram ntioned you're here on business for the law firm?"

"Yes, to handle a comrcial dispute case. I'll be defending the defendant."

"Is the defendant Dominic?"

Hobert was surprised. "How did you guess?"

Ulysses frowned. "Dominic is my brother-in-law. I've heard him ntion this matter."

"How coincidental," Hobert chuckled.

Ulysses shrugged. "The circles in Tingen City aren't that big."

He continued, "I'll have the steward arrange a carriage for you. You're free to use it during your stay. If you need my intervention, don't hesitate to ask."

"Thank you for your assistance."

Ulysses arranged for Hobert to stay in a villa on the outskirts. After dropping him off, he instructed the steward to prepare rooms and a carriage before leaving the villa.

Talking with the steward, Hobert learned that this villa was one of Ulysses's many properties. It was usually reserved for Ulysses's close friends or comrades when they visited Tingen City.

Hobert thought, now this is what a high-ranking officer's life should be like!

Thinking of Christian, although his villa in the center of Backlund could buy several villas in Tingen City, it seed a bit austere compared to Ulysses, his forr subordinate.

Hobert also considered that there might be other properties he didn't know about.

Arriving at the room prepared for him, Hobert found it much more comfortable than a hotel. The décor was elegant but not overly luxurious, and the furniture was tasteful.

After resting for a while, Hobert saw that it was already late in the day. He decided to visit Mr. Dominic tomorrow.

Due to his busy schedule, Ulysses didn't co to entertain Hobert. He dined alone in the vast dining room, feeling sowhat unused to the sudden luxurious lifestyle.

After dinner, Hobert took a stroll in the garden. He looked up at the night sky, wondering what Klein, who shared the sa city with him, was doing right now...

---

At this mont, Klein had just finished dinner and was sitting on a single sofa in the living room, leisurely reading the Awwa Evening Post that had arrived not long ago.

Benson had a grimace on his face as he read a grammar book.

lissa was also busy. In front of her were textbooks, stationery, a compass, ruler, and other items, as if she were doing howork.

Suddenly, the gas lamps in the living room and dining room dimd. The three siblings looked at the lamps simultaneously, trying to find the cause.

Just then, Klein felt sothing touch his arm. There was no one else beside him, but the slight touch made his hair stand on end.

He activated his spirit vision and imdiately saw a small, pale hand near him, holding a neatly folded paper.

It was a ssenger.

Klein breathed a sigh of relief and discreetly grasped the letter under the guise of the newspaper. The ssenger promptly left.

"How strange..." lissa muttered in front of the gas lamp, checking for any issues but finding none even after a thorough inspection.

Klein shook his head with a wry smile. Why was it that in their household, the girls handled such matters while the n just watched?

After the gas lamps returned to normal, everyone went back to their respective tasks.

Under the cover of the newspaper, Klein opened the letter. It was indeed a reply from Miss Daly, detailing relevant knowledge and precautions about spiritualism.

This knowledge greatly benefited Klein.

At the end of the letter, Daly wrote: "If you encounter anything difficult to understand or resolve recently, don't hesitate! Send a telegram to Backlund for help!"

Klein smiled wryly. "Miss, did you receive so alarming information? Don't scare like this, okay?"

---

Early the next morning, Hobert took a two-wheeled carriage provided for him and arrived at Dominic's company, where he discussed the case in detail with Dominic.

He planned to contact Klein or Captain Dunn in a day or two. When he did so, he would try to be as natural as possible. As for why he needed to be natural, he couldn't recall at the mont. In any case, in his plan, this contact had to be natural.

Mr. Dominic's case wasn't too complicated. Earlier this year, at Dominic's initiative, he and another tycoon, Mr. Claude, invested in a batch of futures.

However, during a violent storm at sea, it was unclear whether the goods were seized by pirates or lost in a shipwreck.

In any case, the investnt failed. For Dominic, this was just one of several investnts, and the loss was acceptable to him.

However, Mr. Claude was currently facing a financial crisis, and this investnt was crucial to him.

After the investnt failed, Mr. Claude hoped that Dominic, the initiator of this investnt, would compensate him. He believed that the risks of this investnt were much greater than what Dominic had described, accusing Dominic of fraud!

Naturally, Dominic wouldn't pay compensation. He believed that Claude was now in need of money, so he was trying to extort him.

After several unsuccessful attempts to reach a satisfactory solution through communication, Mr. Claude sued Dominic in court.

The lawyer who usually worked with Dominic suddenly fell ill and was hospitalized. Through a friend's introduction, he found Mr. Barton.

Dominic was also surprised that Mr. Barton only sent an assistant to handle this case. However, after chatting for a few monts, he found that this young man had a clear mind and high professional competence, so he signed the power of attorney with confidence.

Hobert then went to visit the plaintiff's lawyer. The plaintiff's lawyer was quite polite. He also knew that Mr. Claude had little chance of winning, but in order to fight for the interests of his client, he still hoped that Mr. Dominic would compensate him to settle the matter.

The two talked for half a day but made little progress.

In the afternoon, Hobert went to visit Mr. Claude.

Claude, in his forties, had a deserted company, and it seed that only one secretary was working in the huge office building.

"It's too late," his eyes were bloodshot, and Claude, smoking, sneered. "It's all too late. Dominic will pay for everything he has done!"

In the end, the conversation ended without harmony.

After organizing the information, Hobert returned to Dominic's place in the late afternoon.

The two had just sat down on the sofa when a sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl pushed open the door. She was wearing a blue lace dress, her brown hair was naturally curly, and her face had so cute baby fat.

Seeing Hobert, she apologized slightly, "Sorry, Dad, I didn't know you had a guest."

Dominic stood up and introduced, "This is Mr. Hobert, a promising young lawyer from Backlund. This is my daughter, Elizabeth."

Hobert glanced at the slight baby fat on the girl's face. It should be Elizabeth, lissa's friend. Wasn't the world so small?
