Chapter 270: The Thousand-face Mink

Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio

Once the low and powerful sound of the cow horn passed, Goode, Ashnamov and the others led the warriors back one after another. Hearing the sky shaking roars and the continuous cries of anguish, they understood that things were not going well for the Wolf Troop Team, and their expressions grew heavy.

“His Lordship, let’s retreat a distance away!”

Reading the situation, the Fox Elder was deeply worried. Out of the level eight Magical Beasts, the Chira was the most savage of the lot. Not only could it move rapidly, it was also deadly venomous. To be on the safe side, it was better to retreat a distance away.

“No, we can’t retreat! Instead, we need to quickly move forward!” After a short pause, Yang Ling continued, “There is likely to have valuable treasure in the most dangerous places!”

After hearing that there was a horde of level eight Magical Beasts, the Chiras, up front, the people were apprehensive. However, Yang Ling’s interest was piqued.

The main aim of going on this journey was to ta as many Magical Beasts as possible and gain resources from the Underground City. Along the way Yang Ling had gained many resources such as high quality crystals and gems, but he had not gotten a single high level Magical Beast. Now that he had encountered a horde of Chiras, he was not going to let the opportunity pass him by.

Though the Chiras might be powerful, the Twin-legged Flying Dragons in Yang Ling’s Wizard Pagoda’s Space were no walk in the park either. With careful planning, he might even be able to take down the whole horde of Chiras!

Having made his decision, Yang Ling proceeded without delay. He commanded his people to march on forward. Just in case, he also summoned all his 120 Twin-legged Flying Dragons.

Howl...

Hearing the rising and falling roars of the Chira and slling the thick scent of blood in the air, the Flying Dragon King leading his Dragons let out a loud roar. The Flying Dragons had not been seen in a while. In this ti, there was astonishing growth to their wingspan. It seed that the white fog and lake water in the Wizard Pagoda’s Space had been good for them.

Looking at the multitude of Flying Dragons, with their sharp claws and astounding flight speed, circling in the sky, the Fox Elder, Alice and the others all felt safe like never before. Under Yang Ling’s command, the party marched on and reached the bloody battlefield post haste.

“Oh heavens, Flying Dragons, a large group of Flying Dragons!”

“Faria, quick, raise the Magic Barrier!”

...

Faced with a large group of murderous looking, Twin-legged Flying Dragons, the blood-bathed soldiers in in the midst of battle were greatly alard. They were already suffering greatly from the horde of Chiras, which greatly terrified them. How much worse would it be if the large group of Twin-legged Dragons joined in the fight?

Alard, so of the Troops began screaming in terror, so of them went blank with panic and stood there unmoving, like dummies; while so others went pale, knees knocking together uncontrollably.

What to do, what to do?

The Troops were caught unawares, and Team Leader Kerband was no exception. Trouble ca one after another and he did not expect that before they could drive back the horde of Chiras, a large group of even more terrifying Twin-legged Flying Dragons would appear. In this mont, Kerband broke out in nervous sweat.

Faced with nurous savage Chiras, there was no way they could advance forward. Moving forward would certainly an death. They would not be able to retreat either as they would surely suffer serious losses from the pursuing Chiras. And now with this large group of Twin-legged Flying Dragons, the chances of them beating a sucessful retreat have beco even slimr.

Wait, is that His Lordship?

Just as Kerband found himself stuck between a rock and a hard place, he saw that strangely, the group of Flying Dragons had stopped. Following the Flying Dragons were Yang Ling and the soldiers he commanded. He saw them coming in big strides, getting into formation under the Flying Dragons.

Could it be, that these Flying Dragons were Magical Beasts summoned by His Lordship?

Looking at the bizarre scene and recalling Yang Ling’s status, Kerband had a sudden thought. “Brothers, quick, draw closer to where His Lordship is!”

At the critical mont, Kerband gritted his teeth and took a gamble, commanding his n to imdiately retreat to where Yang Ling was. Kerband commanded many of his elites to break through, personally leading a few n close to him to bring up the rear, fighting their way out of the siege at all cost.

Coo...

After the Troop had forced their way out of the siege, a strange noise sounded in the darkness. Imdiately after, a tightly packed crowd of Chiras gushed out like water from a spout. Not to ntion Kerband who was at the rear, even Yang Ling was taken aback by the sight.

Could it be that they had unknowingly chanced upon a huge Chira Nest?

Looking at the few hundred similar looking Chiras behind Kerband, Yang Ling was bewildered.

The Chira was different from the ordinary lion. Its size alone was twice that of an average lion. It also had a pair of fleshy wings on its back, with a wingspan of over one tre. The colour of its skin alternated between black and red. Its bloodthirsty eyes were red. By flapping its wings, the Chira could move rapidly, taking the equivalent of seven to eight steps per leap.

According to the Horned Bee Beasts’ mories, these Chiras who lived in underground caves lived in groups, but usually each group would not have more than 50 Chiras. Looking at the tidal wave of more than 200 Chiras, the Horned Bee Beasts could not understand what was going on, at the mont.

“My Lord, save us!”

“Quick, out of the way!”

...

Turning back to see the large horde of Chiras fast approaching like a tidal wave, the Troops were greatly alard. They shouted for help, while running as fast as they could, towards where Yang Ling’s forces were in formation. But instead of smiles and hugs, they were greeted with a barrage of sharp arrows raining all around them.

“Hmph, kill any troopers who co within 30 paces!”

Looking at the swarming troopers, Yang Ling humd coldly and gravely gave the order. Faced with 200 over level 8 Magical Beasts, the Chiras, it would be suicide to allow the swarming troopers to break his army’s formation!

As the shock passed, the Troop looked at the ferocious Warriors by Yang Ling’s side and imdiately figured out what the other party ant. They then simultaneously retreated towards either side of Yang Ling’s army. From experience, the Troops know the consequences of ssing with the formation of an army.

Looking at the fast approaching horde of Chiras, Yang Ling dared not slow down, imdiately summoning his Magical Beasts Army, commanding them into quick action.

The Evil Eyes, which were like cannon, would advance with the main forces. While the Self Destructing Bats which were like rockets would attack key areas, the Spider Army would hide below ground, attacking the Chiras nearby and protecting the Evil Eyes which were weaker in defence.

Just when the Chiras were about 100 paces away and everyone was so nervous that their hearts were about to jump out of their mouths, Yang Ling gave the command for everyone and the Magical Beasts Army to attack imdiately, with a wave of his hand.

The first to attack were the cannon-like Evil Eyes. After firing beams of lights at the Chiras to blind them, they followed up with consolidated beams of light, firing at the Chiras who were advancing head on. The Chiras were caught off guard by the attack. No matter how tough and thick their hides were, many were still severely injured by the consolidated beams of light, with injuries all over their bodies and blood flowing from the wounds.

Before the Chiras could react, the swarm of Self Destructing Bats flew out with a whoosh, heading straight for the injured Chiras and pouncing on their wounds. After a series of explosions, a large number of Chiras at the frontlines were instantly felled!

Coo...

t with the ferocious attack of Yang Ling’s Magical Beast Army, the Chiras did not retreat but charged forwards with even more ferocity. Then, following the weird sound, sothing strange happened.

One charging Chira beca two, two beca four... Soon, the Chiras multiplied in number, from more than 200 to over a thousand, covering a large area and densely packed together!

“It’s Mirror Magic, heavens, Group Mirror Magic!”

Looking at the strange scene unfold, Yang Ling was bewildered. However, spellcasters like Goode and Yuna, turned pale and started exclaiming loudly.

On the Tailun Continent, Mirror Magic while was an exceedingly rare sight, Group Mirror Magic was even more so. It could, in a short period of ti, create copies of many troops. Even though the magic could only last for about half an hour, every copy created had about 50 percent lifeforce and 60 percent defence of its original copy.

With the ability to instantly multiply military power, the battle strength of its forces would be terrifying, without a doubt. In large scale battles, whoever had access to Group Mirror Magic could be said to hold the key to victory.

Legend had it, that thousands of years ago, the great Babylon Kingdom conquered the whole continent using a puppet army and the terrifying Mirror Magic. But the chaos in the court caused the great and powerful Babylon Kingdom to be overturned overnight. The powerful Mirror Magic also suddenly disappeared. Since then, no one had been able to create puppet armies on a large scale, nor did anyone manage to get hold of the secret to Group Mirror Magic.

For thousands of years, apart from a rare few Magical Beasts with the special ability, there hadn’t been any Spellcaster who could master Mirror Magic.

“Brother Yang, I rember now. There’s a Magical Beast known as the Thousand-faced Mink which likes to live with Chiras. Their special abilities are Mirror Magic and the ability to shapeshift into various Magical Beasts!”

Looking at the horde of Chiras that just keep coming, and thinking about the weird cooing sound before the appearance of more Chiras, Yuna had a sudden thought and rembered the written accounts on the Family Scrolls.

Thousand-faced Mink?

About the size of a mink, with the ability to shapeshift into various Magical Beasts in a short period of ti and possessed Mirror Magic? That Thousand-faced Mink?

With Yuna’s reminder, Yang Ling quickly recalled the description of the Thousand-faced Mink found in the . After getting over his shock, Yang Ling felt great joy, before raising the sharp Blood Elf Dagger with a whoosh.

According to the , the Thousand-faced Minks were born with special abilities of Mirror Magic and shapeshifting. As their magical powers increase, not only would they would be able to create more copies, the lifeforce, and strength of attack and defence of the copies would also increase. Even the ti the magic lasts would also increase!

The legendary top level Thousand-faced Mink could create tens of thousands copies of the original in an instant. Even though it might not be powerful on its own, but if given a Level Surpassing Magical Beast to copy, no one would be its match!

The value of one Thousand-Faced Mink, far surpassed a horde of level nine Magical Beasts, even surpassing that of a horde of Level Surpassing Magical Beasts!

Raising the sharp Blood Elf dagger, Yang Ling strived to circulate the Wizard Power within his body.

The Thousand-face Mink was a rare encounter. This ti, he must ta the Thousand-face Mink and make it his own. Even at the cost of the losing his powerful Flying Dragons in battle.

The importance of one Thousand-faced Mink, which can create large numbers of copies of beings, to his own Magical Beast Army, cannot be fathod!
