Although Alexia believed the theory about the angel's descent wasn't necessarily true, Jenkins had a gut feeling it was the truth.

"Regardless, it should be fine to at least get the umbilical cord out of Nolan. I'll figure out a way to bring it over."

With that, his figure vanished from the sofa. The cat that had been resting on his lap tumbled down, but the couch was soft, and it landed unhurt.

"ow~"

But Chocolate was still displeased.

Jenkins usually relied on the Star Spirit Rakul to transport items between Nolan and Ruen. But this ti, dealing with sothing as volatile as the God's Child Umbilical Cord, he first traveled to the Astral Plane to consult her. Standing amidst the vast sea of stars, the spirit quickly gave her answer:

"I can help you transport that piece of the umbilical cord through the Astral Plane, but the Astral Plane lacks the thick spatial barriers of the material world. The mont the cord appears here, its divine power will likely attract the attention of a kindred source. Are you prepared for that?"

the Star Spirit inquired.

Jenkins only thought for a second before shaking his head. The last thing he wanted was to attract the attention of any evil gods.

"Then let's forget it. It's fine to leave it in Nolan. Perhaps I can use the piece I have to track down the remaining parts."

He said, softly thanking the spirit, but she stopped him before he could leave.

"My god, I wish to ask you a presumptuous question."

"Please, go ahead."

"How are the powers of death and life fused into one?"

It was an interesting question. Clearly, the Star Spirit was aware of what had happened today. But Jenkins couldn't quite explain how he had rged death and life either. He had rely imitated the power of the Holy Sword, which hadn't been difficult.

He had long suspected his familiarity with the power of life stemd from this body, while his control over death was very likely because he had "died to get here."

"I'm just mimicking the power of this sword. It's not that difficult."

Jenkins decided to be truthful, summoning the White Bone Holy Sword for the spirit to inspect. After receiving his consent, she waved a hand, causing the blade to float steadily before her as her transparent, silver-blue eyes scanned it from top to bottom.

"To be honest, while this sword has also fused two opposing powers, the result is not as brilliant as what your mortal body has achieved."

Rakul stated slowly, adding before Jenkins could respond,

"I believe this must be your gift. It is remarkable. My god, all of your actions in the material world will influence the world's fate and the course of the future. At the sa ti, that future destiny has already begun to manifest around you. Please, watch the future. It will be of great help to you."

Jenkins gazed at the Star Spirit in confusion, not quite understanding her words. He certainly wanted to watch the future, but unfortunately, he had barely begun his studies in divination.

Upon returning to Ruen, he regretfully inford the young won that the umbilical cord couldn't be transported over such a long distance, much to the disappointnt of Dolores, who had been eager to see it.

At least Jenkins was able to show them a photograph. Alexia studied the dark object steeping in the water, a thoughtful expression on her face.

The conversation eventually turned to the incident that afternoon with the female corpse. Jenkins described the situation he had faced, and only then did he rember the most crucial part:

"By the ti the demigod from the Church of Death and End arrived in the alley, we had the situation more or less under control. The gentleman was very polite and gave a brief examination, so I took the opportunity to ask him about A-12-4-6701, the [Shard of Death's Cloak]."

"Wouldn't that have seed a bit sudden?"

Dolores asked curiously. She had heard Jenkins ntion his plans to investigate the origins of the god of death.

"Of course, I didn't ask directly. I told him that when I ca into contact with the female corpse, I'd received so strange information. It seed that a cure for the Corpse Plague, the one originating from the Skull Sword, could be found through A-12-4-6701, the [Shard of Death's Cloak]."

Jenkins smiled, then scooped up the cat as it eagerly pawed at the tea tray and placed it on his lap.

"It wasn't exactly a lie. While using the White Bone Holy Sword this afternoon, I realized it didn't just inherit the Skull Sword's devouring properties; it also inherited so of its knowledge. But because it was so heavily perated with the power of life, that information is extrely jumbled. I'll have to carefully sort through it to find what I need. So, I genuinely can provide a solution for the Corpse Plague."

"So, did the demigod agree to lend you the cloak fragnt?"

Dolores asked.

"He did. But I can only access the cloak within the Sage's Church. After all, everyone knows how dangerous Cursed Items are. Even Miss Bevanna wouldn't agree to bringing one ho."

As Jenkins spoke, he turned to look out the window. It was the latter half of March, and even Ruen was finally erging from winter. The snow in the streets had nearly lted, and the once-gleaming silver rooftops were gradually revealing their true colors.

The temperature was still low, but at least a brief spring was truly on its way.

The incident last Friday night, when "robbers" stord the estate, had caused a trendous stir and panic throughout Ruen. There had been over thirty young noblewon at the manor; if any one of them had been hard, the political fallout for the Hamparvo Kingdom would have been imasurable.

Only a select few knew that the event was actually a small reflection of the royal family's internal strife. Before that night, no one had anticipated that Dolores's sister would be so brazen.

"My sister Sarlina has been confined to her quarters by Father. I erased her mories of using my Benefactor abilities, but I think her punishnt is just beginning."

Dolores said with a grin, showing no remorse for her sister.

"But Father also asked who the man was that rescued ..."

Her beautiful eyes t Jenkins's, and he looked back at her candidly until Dolores was the first to blush and look away.

"Father doesn't know who Mr. Williams is, he only heard your na ntioned by the other girls who were rescued. He warned not to associate with people of unknown origin or hire untrustworthy rcenaries. Heh, he completely fell for it."

"So what did you tell him?"

Alexia asked while peeling an orange, a rare sight for this ti of year.

"I said he was soone I could trust. That I trust him completely. That I could even..."
