Five spears created with silver and golden mosaics flew toward Anansi, however, Damballa interposed itself in the path of these, being pierced by them.

The blood of the white-scaled serpent splattered the witch, who was stupefied.

She hadn’t felt or perceived the attack approaching.

"Mmm, what a sha, I lost the elent of surprise," a mocking voice then ntioned.

As Damballa’s body recovered its doll form, Anansi looked at the newcor with anger.

Her normally expressionless face was now showing anger, and while this anger wasn’t very pronounced, it could be clearly seen reflected on her face.

"You... you’re the one who created this place, right?" the witch asked with a cold voice.

The old man looked at Anansi and nodded with a mischievous smile.

"I think the answer answers itself, don’t you think?" the old man responded.

Anansi clenched her fists tightly.

Few things drove her crazy, however, there was sothing that did bother her.

The spawn of Xoth, and everything that contaminated the world.

She knew strange things were happening in Aurudil, however now she could get an idea of what it was about.

Soone was doing profane experints, sothing very insulting to her, who tried to purify the great spirits and the world.

That man was dangerous, and had to be stopped as soon as possible.

"What is your na, old man," she said seriously, as she glared at him.

The old man raised his eyebrows, as if surprised by the question, but then, he just smiled.

"You can call Epitheus, Anansi," he responded with a mocking smile, as if he felt very amused by the situation.

Anansi raised an eyebrow, how did he know her na?

"How—"

Anansi tried to question the priest, however, he interrupted her as if he knew what she was going to say.

"Ohhh, you see, you could say I closely follow your father’s research, whom I consider my teacher," the man responded with a smile.

Anansi felt her blood run cold.

Protheus, that’s what they called her father, or rather her creator.

According to legend, in the ancient era the world was perfect.

The great tower that joins heaven and Earth was still intact, and the gods still lived alongside humans.

It was an idyllic paradise, where gods and humans lived in peace and harmony, until he ca, Protheus.

He, jealous of the gods’ power, envious of their power, Protheus decided to start a revolution against the gods.

Many joined him, also contaminated by the envy they felt toward the gods.

A war against them began, however, the gods couldn’t be defeated by re mortals, but in their imnse benevolence they didn’t want to harm humans either.

Protheus in a vile act took advantage of that, he couldn’t defeat the gods, but he could damage the tower.

He did it, he destroyed the tower that joined heaven and earth, cutting that connection, making it so the gods could no longer visit the planet.

However, far from being good news, this ant the ruin of the world.

As the divine light of the gods moved away, the darkness and shadows from outside penetrated the planet, in the form of aberrations of Xoth.

These beings contaminated the earth, and destroyed it, it was the apocalypse.

However, a new light of hope erged.

The descendants of the gods, the Vanir, they used their divine power and the rest of the gods’ divine power to create Od’Zohar, the beacon of light that illuminated the planet.

Thanks to it they managed to create Caelestia, humanity’s only city.

Anansi knew that legend, she also knew that many things it said were lies, however, she also knew that all the inhabitants of Caelestia believed it.

Therefore, how was it possible that a priest felt intrigued by Protheus? If they saw him as the most horrendous being in the world.

But there were other questions, what did he an by Protheus’s research?

Had her father left docunts she didn’t know about?

And more importantly, how did he know about her?

That’s when the idea ca to her mind, it was impossible, but at the sa ti, the only option.

"You... spoke with the demon goddess of tyranny?" Anansi asked with an icy voice.

It was really impossible, she knew that goddess had been killed, but perhaps it wasn’t so.

Epitheus nodded energetically.

"Yes, yes, how perceptive. Though calling her goddess might be very derogatory, don’t you think? She’s an Ashura after all," the priest responded.

Anansi was shocked.

Was she really alive?

That was very bad news, Anansi wasn’t sure she could defeat her in her current state.

Noticing the concern in the witch’s eyes, the priest announced sothing.

"Ohhh, don’t worry, she’s alive because of the residues of her essence that are in the [Jade Cube]," the priest affird.

Anansi blinked with confusion, was that possible?

"But, she was freed from the cube, you’re saying she returned to it?" Anansi asked incredulously.

Epitheus shrugged.

"Well, apparently she managed to survive, and it shouldn’t surprise you so much, after all, you can’t say you’re the ’original Anansi’ either," Epitheus responded sarcastically.

The witch was surprised.

He even knew that.

"Do you think that will give you an advantage sohow?" the witch asked seriously.

The old man stroked his beard as he reflected.

"Mmm, it’s true you’ve weakened a lot, but I’m not going to underestimate you because of that," the old man answered.

Anansi looked at him coldly, he wasn’t lying, she wasn’t even a shadow of what she once was, and the battles against the great spirits had weakened her more.

That’s why she usually employed external ans to fight, so as not to wear down her power.

"Prudence is a good virtue, however, as you’ll understand I can’t let you continue those experints," she said still with a cold look.

The priest simply smiled, he expected nothing else.

"Well, I didn’t intend to continue them for now either, however, I don’t think saying it will convince you, right?" the priest responded, with a confident smile on his face.

Anansi nodded as she looked at him with even more seriousness.

"You’re right," she responded dryly.

Epitheus simply smiled, as if he had been waiting for that answer.

"I suppose I have no choice, I’ll have to finish off a botherso arachnid."

And upon pronouncing those words, Epitheus released his divine power, which quickly spread throughout the place.

A new battle was about to begin.
