Capítulo 974: Chapter 814: The Great Species Returns
The abrupt source of the sound was a chanical oddity facsimile machine from Yasha Star, a device Rose commonly used.
At this mont, as steam gushed forth, pages of curio paper were ejected, retrieved by a chanical assistant, and neatly arranged on the table.
When Rose Madeline instinctively lowered her head to look, and quickly encountered a familiar rune in one paragraph, her languid and enchanting aura vanished instantly, returning to her serious scholar deanor.
The fax ca from one of her cooperative organizations, the “Sixth Kind of Contact Association,” an Extraordinary Organization focused on the field of “Exotic Realm Visitors.” Its reputation was far lesser than that of the World Tree or the Ancient Mystical Vault and couldn’t even be compared to organizations like the Giant Beast Containnt Foundation.
But in fact, it’s a deeply rooted, permanently neutral organization.
This organization’s mbers are absolute peace enthusiasts, but to so extent, they also take on the role of Origin Star Guardians, unknown to civilians and even most Transcendents.
They use special ans to closely monitor the barriers of the Origin Star.
Any invaders will catch their attention, and they will take corresponding asures based on the threat level of the invader.
Most of the ti, they choose to report to the local official.
However, for so threats that are too high-level, they will also seek assistance from more powerful organizations.
In fact, incidents like the “Thorny Master Event” and the “Knova Mad King Incident” were imdiately noticed by the association, but before they could take actions, the incidents were resolved.
They don’t care about fa; they consider themselves one of the many Guardians of the Origin Star.
The reason they sent the fax ssage now was due to Rose Madeline’s instructions from long ago.
Since the “True and False Husband Incident,” a large part of Rose’s research focus has shifted towards that behind-the-scenes mastermind.
To this end, she also used her occupational convenience to report so research results to various cooperating Extraordinary Organizations.
This mont, she received feedback for the first ti.
On the first page of paper before her, a familiar symbol appeared, an odd triangular glyph with a gem-like eyeball inside it.
Others couldn’t possibly know what that symbol represented, but Rose knew clearly.
“Great Species, Vitsdon people… Engineer!”
Rose Madeline uttered this sentence with a complex expression, a flicker of anger and murderous intent in her eyes.
As a neutral polymath, Rose normally wouldn’t have any enemies.
But there are exceptions; the so-called Great Species, Vitsdon people, especially one mber within, the “Engineer,” had beco an absolute adversary of Rose.
Gazing at this symbol she nad “Engineer’s Eye,” Rose imdiately recalled that extrely perilous and disgusting incident, besides herself, Tang Qi, as the one who was called for aid, was also drawn in, and it was he who eventually helped her solve that dreadful husband… and Devouring Beast.
Rose wanted to go next door to find Tang Qi at once, but just as she was about to rise, the embarrassing scene from not long ago flashed in her mind. She not only took interest in Master Tang’s “seed,” but also said so strange and peculiar words.
Seeing her cheeks turning a rosy hue again, Rose covered them and decided to calm down first and finish reading through the intelligence.
Her gaze rested back on the fax, more information erged:
“Divine Eagle New Calendar, January 5th, Heavenly Net triggered alarms thirty-five tis, thirty of which were verified as small teorites and so non-threatening vagrant biologicals. Four showed low threat levels, but one triggered a level-seven warning, and the association dispatched an initial investigation team to examine it.”
“The target is an unknown object with a detected drop point at ‘Friday Island’ on the most remote end of the Lost Islands in the Federation Outer Sea.”
“At dusk that day, the Explorer ship arrived at the island and sent back an initial observation report in real-ti.”
“The report indicated that Friday Island had undergone unknown pollution, with a massive alteration in the island’s landscape and different degrees of mutation in flora and fauna, with the degree of mutation still deepening, a mbrane ford by unknown radiation covering the entire island.”
“For unknown reasons, the initial investigation team violated association regulations, entering the island without permission.”
“On the morning of January 6th, the investigation team sent back a real-ti observation report, the report contained photos, videos, and related sample test data.”
“The association received the report and demanded the investigation team explain the violation and leave the island imdiately, yet the team refused and lost contact half an hour later.”
…
As she delved deeper into the information, Rose’s brow gradually furrowed.
Friday Island, this na originated when adventurer Sir Ian discovered the “Lost Islands,” naming the islands after a group of native guides by his side, of which Friday was the bravest. His native na translated into Federation Language is this sowhat humorous na.
The “unknown alien object” from an exotic realm landed on this island known for red coconuts and mutated it with pollution.
Judging by the report, the initial investigation team undoubtedly encountered an unknown attack.
Although the Sixth Kind of Contact Association is not adept at combat, they have a deep foundation, and their equipnt, tools, and related experience are not far behind the World Tree.
As Rose knew, the association, for targets that triggered a level-seven warning, generally dispatched their most experienced investigative team.
Past track records show that even when faced with a “Demigod Level” presence, the investigation team should not have easily lost the power to resist like this.
Thoughts flickered, and Rose continued to look at the photos and videos attached to the report, those corresponding from Yasha Star’s chanical facsimile machine, paired with a correspondence play device.
Watching them in conjunction was enough to roughly present the current appearance of the entire island:
What should have been a picturesque “Friday Island” completely lost its real-world color in these reported photos and videos, resembling a fantasy, but not the fairy-tale kind—rather another kind, more futuristic, more real.
The trees on the island have taken on anthropomorphic and zoomorphic forms, mutated into various shapes, even showing traits of living beings.
A five-minute short video shows a monster transford from a “Red Coconut Tree” suddenly using a pair of red giant pincers to attack mbers of the investigation team.
Although it was quickly eliminated and dropped a dozen red crystal coconuts upon its death, this still threw the investigation team into chaos.
At the end of the video, every mber of the investigation team was shouting:
“An accident occurred, attacked by an alien object.”
“Request imdiate retreat, return to the Explorer.”
Their request was sent, yet the communicator did not imdiately respond. It wasn’t until a few seconds later that a static noise crackled through, followed by a voice incredibly cold, as if chanical in nature, responding.
“Refuse to return, continue exploring.”
When this cold voice sounded, the final fra of the video was a scene of extre eeriness.
Every mber of the investigation team, including a Demon Hunter nearing “Legendary Level” in the Extraordinary Realm, a “Gaia Scholar” who should be immune to pollution, their expressions collectively turned stiff and rigid, and they chanted the sa murmur, overlapping and transmitted through the video.
“Continue exploring!”
“Continue exploring!”
This cold murmur dispelled the misty and mysterious atmosphere in the room entirely.
Instantly, a bizarre and terrifying aura spread.
Rose Madeline frowned even tighter, her fingers tapping as she continued to look at the other photos and videos.
After being attacked, the transford investigation team began to carry out their tasks in a fixed program.
This gave Rose a stronger sense of abnormality: it seed the investigation team was rely “tools,” their role being… to present everything on the island?
With this feeling, Rose saw an island that was bizarre and magical, an island one would want to imrse in.
Beyond the mutated plants, the living creatures on the island showed even more obvious and astonishing changes.
Lizards transforming into “ancient dinosaurs,” butterflies shifting towards elves, seagulls expanding and glazing over, a giant octopus erging from rock crevices… The island’s life was undergoing a leap, a leap in evolution.
A handheld cara of a team mber captured the evolutionary process of the bird species “Cloud Rhinoceros Hummingbird,” widely distributed in the Lost Island:
The Cloud Rhinoceros Hummingbird, originally collecting nectar among the flowers, was suddenly hit by a rainbow-like beam of light while in flight.
In an instant, it burst open.
But what sprayed out towards the surroundings was not flesh and feathers, but vibrant cyan electrical light.
The hummingbird, initially the size of a baby’s fist, instantaneously transford into a large bird nearly comparable to an adult in size, cloaked entirely in electrical light, a heart-shaking extraordinary aura emanating as it let out a thunderous screech, imdiately soaring into the sky, like other birds that had transford.
Such bizarre evolution was occurring constantly on the island, not restricted to living things.
Even immovable inanimate objects experienced the sa mutation.
Another female team mber, her cara captured a seemingly beautiful yet actually horrifying scene: a handso male team mber squatted before a spring in the jungle and did not heed the rule of not touching water sources in unknown environnts. He extended his hands to scoop up the spring water to drink.
But in the next mont, the clear spring water in his palms emitted a soft, rainbow glow, transforming into a tiny, unclad, entirely enchanting “rmaid,” who expanded to a normal size amidst the flowing water.
She extended her white arms, like a lover wrapped in obsession, embracing the male team mber, offering a warm hug, a gentle kiss, and dragged the completely oblivious male team mber into the water.
“Pop pop”
Along with the sound of two bubbles bursting, the rmaid and the male team mber both disappeared.
The female team mber who captured it all turned the cara on herself, and even more bizarre footage unexpectedly t Rose’s eyes, as this female team mber began to turn transparent, her skin, blood vessels, organs, and bones… successively appearing, then glazing over, refracting a multitude of colors and lights.
She opened her mouth, uttering a murmur that was vague and eerie.
The sound erging in the room from the video was the familiar “Continue exploring” phrase.
But in that second, what echoed in the depths of Rose’s mind was a completely different ssage.
Rose seed to see a pair of hollow eyes, cold and pure, filled with irresistible malice, and an overlapping voice that occupied her mind and soul.
“Co… find … ah.”
“Boom!”
Instantly, Rose Madeline lost consciousness.
