Chapter 172: Chapter 172 Granny’s Tea Party
“Sigh”
Before Tang Qi’s eyes, a clear image of a giant mouth appeared, with a slimy tongue covered in backward-facing spines, intercrossed yellowed teeth, gaps exposing glimpses of decaying flesh, and a strong stench emanating as if the throat was filled to the brim with oozing filth.
An Extraordinary Monster!
Beneath his eyes, a ghostly light surged.
Simultaneously, Tang Qi’s form transford into a phantom in an instant, disappearing from the spot.
The Monster’s sneak attack was swift, but there was no need for Tang Qi to use Fog Body just yet.
A dozen ters away, Tang Qi reappeared.
Then, he imdiately made out the true face of the “attacker.”
It was a gigantic crocodile, nearly ten ters long, as if it had survived for endless Ti, its scales starting to turn white and exceptionally rough and ancient, with a steel-like texture. Most notably, its head.
Above the long, fierce snout, shockingly, was a wrinkly face, as if perpetually smiling.
The face of an old woman.
Tang Qi’s eyebrows instantly furrowed, not even waiting for the special image at the bottom of his eyes to form.
Just then, at this mont, a shrill, elderly voice pierced into his ears.
The source was that very face of the old woman.
“Giggle giggle giggle… Let’s see, what has Granny been waiting for, an Extraordinary Human?”
“Are you a Demon Hunter, or a Secret Alchemist here to find herbs? Welco to Granny’s ho. The incident just now was a little misunderstanding. Granny is getting old, her eyes aren’t very good. She mistook you for a tasty little snack.”
“Speaking of which, are you hungry? Let Granny get you so biscuits and snacks.”
“Guests are to be treated well; please enjoy your al.”
…
The scene at this mont was incredibly eerie.
Even Tang Qi, who considered himself to have seen many abnormalities, couldn’t help but be dumbfounded, but he quickly recovered.
He had encountered an Abnormality with intelligence.
This was rare, as most Abnormalities were chaotic, following a set of rules unknown to humans.
However, Abnormalities capable of intelligence and communication were not few, like the Ghost he had encountered before in the market.
Yet, this Extraordinary Crocodile in front of him made Tang Qi feel an imnsely deep malevolence and an uncontrollable, innate revulsion.
The next scene proved Tang Qi’s premonition.
Upon discovering Tang Qi was a Transcendent, the old crocodile did not launch another attack. Instead, only her head erged from the swamp, her body still buried in the stinking black mud.
As she finished her last sentence, the black mud began to bubble with a “glug glug” sound.
Several human figures, entirely wrapped in black mud, slowly erged from the depths of the swamp. With each step they took, clumps of black mud fell away, and by the ti they reached Tang Qi, they had turned into three voluptuous beauties.
However, these three beauties had already begun to rot, with fat maggots wriggling in and out of wounds caused by branches or stones.
Hiss!
Hiss hiss!
Almost simultaneously, the three beauties used their hands to carve open their chests, digging out their rotten hearts, and then extended them towards Tang Qi.
Clearly, this was the so-called “biscuit snack.”
The Witch Crocodile’s head slightly erged further, the old woman’s face on it becoming even more “kind,” smiling with squinted eyes, amiably urging, “Eat up, eat up, it’s very tasty. This is Granny’s favorite snack. It’s very flavorful.”
“Sigh”
Tang Qi took a deep breath, tonight’s hunt had a pleasant surprise.
He thought he was dealing with an Extraordinary Crocodile that had developed intelligence, but now, that may not be the case.
His gaze, more serious than ever before, was fixed on the face of the old woman.
[Extraordinary Creature: Witch Crocodile.]
[State: Normal.]
[Information Fragnt One: A beautiful woman in her youth received the inheritance of a witch. She spent her lifeti studying and practicing. Although the power of the witchcraft was far less than described in the records, it was still a strength far greater than that of ordinary people. She beca obsessed with it until her old age, when she discovered that the witchcraft in the heritage that was supposed to extend her life had failed.]
[Information Fragnt Two: In order to survive, the witch took an alternative path. She turned a crocodile into an Extraordinary Puppet using witchcraft and then infused her own soul into it. Initially, her end would have been assimilation by the crocodile, eventually becoming a chaotic and bloodthirsty monster. However, the Spiritual Tide returned, and a special witch was born.]
[Information Fragnt Three: She is cruel and powerful, and before the puppet decays, she will have at least a few hundred years of life.]
[Information Fragnt Four: This is her territory, and all the Dead, Resentful Souls, Ghosts…are under her rule.]
…
Tang Qi shifted his gaze back to the three Rotting Beauties in front of him.
“Extraordinary Creature: Resentful Corpse, accidentally died in the swamp, a being with a soul trapped in the body.”
“Hum”
As the fragnts passed through his eyes, Tang Qi seed to sense sothing and abruptly looked up again, looking past the Witch Crocodile and towards the pitch-black swamp.
At this mont, the swamp was both quiet and incredibly bustling.
Gurgle~Gurgle
The Black Mud was surging, and figures were erging from the depths of the swamp.
A large number of Resentful Corpses, just like the Rotting Beauties, were among them, including so large animals.
In addition, there were dozens of Ghosts.
And, a few Extraordinary Creatures, such as a giant warty toad, a White Bone Giant Python, and a One-eyed Crow.
These beings, rising from the depths of the swamp, then under the cover of nightfall, watched Tang Qi with lifeless eyes.
This scene was strange to the extre.
It was as if a naive youth had accidentally wandered into a “Realm of the Dead,” a realm ruled by an evil witch.
It sounds very much like the start of a fairy tale.
Almost every fairy tale starts off dark, and reality is even darker than dark fairy tales.
At this mont, Tang Qi finally realized what the dense clusters of ghost light he had seen from above when passing over this swamp were.
Perhaps at that ti, was Granny the Old Witch Crocodile hosting her own “tea party”?
Now, Tang Qi was also one of the guests.
Seeing Tang Qi unsatisfied with the “dessert” right before his eyes, the old woman’s laughter rang out again.
“My beauties, our guest does not like your rotten hearts; let’s try brain pulp instead.”
“Click clack~Crack”
Amidst the old woman’s shrill laughter, the three Rotting Beauties crudely put their hearts back into their chest cavities, and then, quite delightedly, each twisted their own skulls.
More foul-slling than the hearts, the rotten, soup-like brain pulp appeared before Tang Qi, teeming with maggots happily feasting within.
Without waiting for Tang Qi to express his opinion, the old woman’s voice suddenly turned sinister.
“Young guest, if you continue to be so impolite, Granny will get angry, you know.”
“Whoosh”
A casually spoken sentence, yet it whipped up a bone-chillingly cold breeze throughout the swamp.
