Chapter 1258: The Red Angel Who Never Learns
After reminding Ebner about the two n beside Viscount Lavran, Madam Yarolan did not continue the topic. Instead, she shifted her attention back to the dance itself, seemingly imrsing herself in the solitude she shared with him.
Ebner likewise did not ask further questions, wandering together with her through the beautiful lody.
When the dance ended, he escorted Yarolan back to the dining table laden with carrot cake, cream muffins, roasted spring chicken, stewed lamb, pan-seared ribeye steak, Dacy-style grilled fish, and other dishes. He casually picked up a glass of red wine and, while savoring it, walked toward the gaunt man who had previously been with the Saintess of Purple’s "personality avatar."
Although Ebner had already determined that He was in fact the three-in-one Red Angel evil spirit, His appearance itself had been sowhat unexpected. Thus, Ebner took the opportunity to probe what He was planning.
At this mont, Josena, the Saintess of Purple’s avatar, had already been invited into the dance floor by a gentleman, leaving Sauron-Einhorn-dici’s side temporarily quiet.
Seeing Ebner approach, dici completely ignored the disgusted looks from other nearby guests. He picked up a high-end cigar that had already been preheated and used a cigar cutter to snip an opening of appropriate size at its rounded tip.
After taking a satisfying puff, He clicked His tongue and said, "The taste is indeed much better than during Solomon’s ti, but it’s not stimulating enough..."
As He spoke, He glanced at Ebner walking over and casually asked, "Want one?"
Since they had t once before at the abandoned church on Williams Street and then briefly again at the Twilight Ritual in Indo Port not long ago, even though Ebner had not used his true face at the ti, it was impossible to fool the eyes of a top-tier Hunter. So dici undoubtedly recognized him.
"No need." Ebner shook his head and took a seat near dici, asking with interest, "How did you know I could recognize you?"
"You’re a Cognizer. If you couldn’t even see through my current condition, you might as well turn your characteristic into a Beyonder item," dici said as He took another puff and exhaled smoke. "Besides, when you were Sequence 5, you already had a whole set of things capable of threatening Demigods. Your background definitely isn’t simple. Recognizing
is only normal."
"Then what are you doing here?" Ebner asked directly, not bothering with pleasantries.
"On behalf of which one behind you are you asking ?" dici lowered the hand holding the cigar and smacked His lips.
"No one. I represent only myself," Ebner replied calmly.
"Then what right do you have to interrogate ? Don’t think that just because you’ve beco a Demigod, you’re truly qualified to act presumptuously before !" dici shot him a sidelong glance and spoke arrogantly.
Whether in speech or movent, He gave people the urge to punch Him.
It was the sa last ti, until I took out Lily’s Tear... Ebner grumbled inwardly. Then he repeated his old trick, directly pulling out from the historical void the sapphire pendant capable of releasing the power of "Desolation" and slapping it onto the table.
Next, before the wide-eyed dici could react, Ebner sequentially "yanked" Pale Death and the Quill of Alzuhod from history as well. Smiling, he said, "Pick one, and I’ll let it speak to you."
Seeing this, dici coughed lightly, and His entire temperant abruptly changed, as if He were a different person. After carefully examining Ebner for a few monts, He explained in detail:
"There are two reasons why I ca here.
"On the surface, I am currently one of the heads of the Artificial Death faction of the Numinous Episcopate in Backlund. I have a cooperative relationship with that demoness nad Josena, so I accepted her invitation to attend the ball.
"The content of the cooperation is actually sowhat related to you... They intend to take advantage of the large-scale construction in Beldan to set up a sacrificial ritual.
"As for why that demoness ca to attend the ball, I have no idea."
The Saintess of Purple has gotten involved with the Artificial Death faction of the Numinous Episcopate? Hmm, not a bad plan. After all, because of , the Numinous Episcopate has a certain foundation in Beldan. For the Saintess of Purple, who lacks manpower, they would be good helpers.
But I bet she definitely didn’t tell the Numinous Episcopate that she plans to sacrifice all the citizens of Beldan.
Thinking this, Ebner glanced thoughtfully at the "shell" of the Red Angel evil spirit before him and then asked, "Are you Sauron or Einhorn right now?"
It definitely wasn’t dici. That guy had probably shrunk back to play dead.
"Sauron." The gaunt man smiled slightly as he answered.
Sauron... I rember Yarolan ntioning that the materials for the Sauron family ancestor from Sequence 9 to Sequence 1 were all handled personally by Rhine Carendia... He was rather friendly toward . Did He recognize
as ’Rhine’?
Ebner’s thoughts stirred. However, seeing that the other party did not bring it up, he did not expose it either and simply continued along the previous line of conversation. "What about the other reason?"
"It was dici’s ’Little Crow’ who invited Him here... dici might know the reason, but Einhorn and I do not," Sauron said with a slight shake of his head.
Little Crow... Isn’t that Amon? Amon personally invited dici here... Does He think the calamities at that girl’s cheap parents’ house aren’t big enough already?
Ebner muttered a few strange remarks with an odd expression, growing increasingly interested in Amon’s arrangents, wondering what exactly He intended to do.
Of course, if the disaster endangered ordinary people, he would intervene imdiately to stop it.
Although Ebner said he had co to watch the show, in truth he was more here to keep the situation under control.
On the other side, Sauron had already extinguished the cigar and asked, "Do you have any other questions?"
At this point, Ebner also dispersed the projections of those items. After thinking for a mont, he smiled and said, "Do the three of you want to separate?"
As soon as his words fell, the feeling given by the Red Angel across from him changed once more. Clearly, dici had co back "online." With both anticipation and so disbelief, He asked, "You have a way?"
Ebner judged inwardly that dici likely held the advantage among the three evil spirits, while maintaining an unchanged smile on the surface. He described his plan and finally said, "Simply put, it’s performing a ’surgery’ to split the soul and separate you."
Hearing this, dici showed no joy at all. Instead, He sneered. "Such a surgery would require at least one Naturewalker and one Beauty Goddess working together. But since the Earth Mother has already beco a god, unless you can bring Lilith here, it’s impossible!"
"What if I can bring Lilith here?" Ebner asked with a smile.
"..." dici was montarily speechless. After a long while, He finally said, "Even if you can, I wouldn’t trust Her."
"Then can you trust ?" Ebner asked again.
"Trust you?" dici stared at him for a long ti before hesitantly nodding. "You helped the Lord in the previous Indo Port incident. For now, I’ll trust you."
"Then that’s easy. You’ve seen that I can simulate the ability of ’historical projection’!
"As long as I pull out a Naturewalker and a Beauty Goddess, your surgery can be completed."
The extra Chapter will be posted after nine.
