Yun Yue had packed her things and left without realising that Jiang Wenshan breathed a sigh of relief the mont she turned her back.

Walking to the gate, she noticed Xiao Chen’s car already parked at the entrance of the Painting Association. Her brows raised slightly as she lazily made her way over.

"How co you’re here?"

When Xiao Chen saw her coming, he helped her open the car door, "I’ve asked for you to have three days off, rest well."

Yun Yue acknowledged with a sound, ducking into the car. The temperature inside was just right, and so snacks were beside her; turning her head, she saw the back seat full of them, her mouth twitching slightly.

"Did you go on a shopping spree at the supermarket?"

A car full of snacks, she suspected there might be more in the trunk.

"Yeah, happened to pass by the mall, so I bought so, just when we had finished all at ho." Xiao Chen sat in the driver’s seat and buckled her in.

As he did so, a familiar scent of tobacco mixed with the sll of male hormones invaded her nostrils, and for a mont, she even felt his warmth.

Yun Yue’s hand, reaching for the snacks, stiffened. Once he sat back, she calmly opened a lollipop, tore off the wrapper, and began to eat.

She had eaten so much sugar lately, indeed the candy at ho was finished.

Back ho, Feng Ye and Xiao Feng were both not around. Xiao Chen saw the dark circles under her eyes, the bloodshot whites clearly visible.

She hadn’t slept much at all for half a month, right?

Ever since she ca back that day, she seed to have had trouble sleeping.

He didn’t know what had gone wrong in the anti, perhaps it was related to Qiu Jun, or maybe she had t soone.

Xiao Chen’s gaze was deep and complex as he carried groceries into the kitchen, rolled up his sleeves, revealing fair and strong wrists: "What would you like to eat tonight?"

Yun Yue noticed his movents and spoke in surprise, "You’re cooking?"

As he started preparing, he said, "Mhm, Xiao Feng has been sent out on a mission by , and Feng Ye was called back ho, so it’s just the two of us."

Yun Yue responded, then opened a box of exorbitantly expensive chocolates. Ordinary people would find it too sweet, eating one after another; she ate three pieces at once. Xiao Chen looked at her actions, his eyes deep like water.

He had only known before that she liked to eat sweets, only recently realizing that she was obsessed with candy.

Eating too much sugar can make you sick.

He had asked her grandmother, who had always forbidden her from eating sugar. Only in the past year, when her condition had improved and there had been no outbreaks, did she allow her to eat it occasionally.

This wasn’t just a liking for sweets anymore; this was treating candy like a al.

She wasn’t physically ill; it was psychological.

Xiao Chen approached imposingly, his slightly furrowed brows inducing fear. Yun Yue, sitting on the sofa flipping through channels, glanced at him, "What’s wrong?"

"We’re about to eat, so leave the snacks aside for now." Xiao Chen didn’t give her a chance to refuse, snatching the candy from her hands, and he collected up all the sweets he had just bought.

Just like when they first t, he took her candy away at the dinner table, only this ti his deanor was more forceful, an indifferent air that brooked no refusal.

With her candy taken away, Yun Yue felt as though she lacked sothing, restlessness suddenly escalating within her. Whether it was from anger or lack of rest, bloodshot veins clogged her eyes, which were tinged with an acrid sll.

Seeing her like this, Xiao Chen was both shocked and heartbroken.

His gaze fixed on her eyes.

His eyes were deep, like the vast cosmos, drawing her in like a whirlpool, as if everything around them had co to a standstill.

One raging against the sky with untad wildness, the other calm as water, with a hint of heartache and helplessness.

Xiao Chen just quietly held her gaze until a snap of his fingers sounded. Yun Yue suddenly let go of all her malice, closed her eyes, and collapsed.

Xiao Chen’s eyes and hands moved swiftly to hold her in his arms.

Three minutes.

Even in her current state, it took him three minutes to hypnotize her, revealing how deep her defenses were.

The longest he had ever taken to hypnotize soone was only one minute.

The human spirit and will can only be invigorated through relentless tempering. He only needed several seconds for ordinary people, so what exactly had the 18-year-old her experienced?

His slender, graceful fingers caressed her face, his voice low and husky, his gaze tender, "What should I do with you?"

He gently picked her up and carried her to her room, his movents tender and ticulous. After tucking her into bed, he stood by her bedside for a while before turning to leave the room.

Then he returned, holding incense in his hand.

The incense he held was specially formulated by him. When burned with another type, it had a hypnotic effect, but on its own, it aided sleep.

Although he was eager to know what had happened to her in the past, he would not probe her mory without her permission.

He stood by her bedside for a long while before Xiao Chen slowly left the room.

He casually made himself a al, then retired to his room to handle his affairs.

"Check everything about K, every single detail," Xiao Chen’s chiselled face, sharp and distinct, radiated an indifferent coolness, his voice devoid of warmth.

Although Xiao Dian did not know what had happened, it was rare to see Master Chen like this, and he imdiately went to investigate personally.

In half an hour, he had sent all the information about K over.

K rarely appeared in the public eye. In a way, she was a cold-blooded, rciless killing machine.

In the span of three years, she helped Qiu Jun to clear many obstacles, and even Qiu Jun’s becoming the Alliance Hierarch had much to do with her.

She had spent three months in the forbidden area, visiting all its forces, yet no one knew what she looked like; people only knew she was female.

The information Xiao Dian had just fetched contained only one photo of a silhouette, which felt eerily familiar to him, yet he could not recall where he had seen it before.

Xiao Chen went through the information word by word, not missing any detail.

Seeing that photo of the silhouette, his pupils shrank, and all the suspicions and conjectures in his heart were confird.

"Tu Mi Garden has been at rest for long enough; I’m afraid they only rember Qiu Jun now and not ," he said, gently tapping the desk, his forehead hair obscuring his eyes, leaving them dark and frightening.

Xiao Dian’s heart was shaken, incredulous as he looked at the screen, "Master Chen, are you thinking of..."

Four years ago, due to Family Head matters, he had gradually withdrawn and rarely dealt with matters in country M, not visiting even once a year.

"The Poison Centipede needs to be uprooted, and so does the Martin family..."

The indifferent voice carried an authoritative tone, causing Xiao Dian to halt mid-sentence and quickly nod, "Yes, I understand."

The Poisonous Centipede Martin and these forces belonged to Qiu Jun – he intended to target Qiu Jun!

Master Chen had always seed indifferent to the nurous covert actions of Qiu Jun’s people, so why now was he ready to make a harsh move against Qiu Jun?

Had Qiu Jun offended him?

"Hmm, I’ll have Xiao Lei go and support you," Xiao Chen lit a cigarette, its glow particularly bright in the dimly lit room, flickering on and off, like the stars in the sky.

"By the way, Master Chen, how is the investigation into the 613 incident going? Have you discovered anything?" Xiao Dian had just received so intelligence and decided to ask tentatively.

"Hmm?" Xiao Chen, attentive by nature, naturally sensed the slyness in his question, his brows furrowing slightly, "Speak."

Xiao Dian’s mind jolted, knowing nothing could be hidden from him, he hesitantly said, "Miss Yun is... the granddaughter of Ghost Doctor Yun Ming, and Liu Lanfang is his spouse."
