Lyan sat quietly, the soft glow of moonlight streaming through the window. He took in the sight of the won sprawled across his bed, their naked bodies glistening in the dim light. A gentle smile played on his lips as he marveled at the peaceful expressions on their faces, each of them resting after a night of passion and intimacy.
(Hey, Lyan) (Griselda)
Lyan’s eyes widened in surprise.
(Griselda?) (Lyan)
he thought, recognizing the voice of the fierce spirit within his grimoire. Startled, he cursed under his breath.
(Damn it. Did I forget to turn off the television inside the grimoire’s space again?) (Lyan)
He facepald and muttered.
(Idiot) (Lyan)
(It’s not that) (Griselda)
Griselda interrupted, her tone uncharacteristically hesitant. Lyan sensed an unusual hesitation in her voice, sothing that was not normal for the typically ferocious spirit.
She would usually scoff and badmouth him, judging from the number of girls he intercourse with last night, she label him as a brute or an orc or sothing.
But the question that appeared is different.
(Are you alright?) (Griselda)
Griselda asked, her voice softening with concern.
Lyan tilted his head, puzzled.
(I’m fine. Why do you ask?)
(Nothing.) (Griselda)
(It’s just... It’s about what happened when we were interrogating Duke Ravindor. He had magic implanted by the dark elves, and the safety asure of the spell attacked you. It seems to have left a curse) (Griselda)
Lyan sighed, rubbing his temples.
(I’m fine. Cynthia healed with her magic)
(Don’t lie) (Griselda)
Griselda snapped.
(I’ve heard about Cynthia. She did her best, but you’re not healed enough. It’s a curse, and your body is still weak. Even if the curse was lifted right at that mont, before it was healed, it managed to inflict enough damage inside your body)
Lyan shrugged, trying to brush off her concerns.
(Well, maybe there is so damage. But it’ll heal. Calm down. Maybe a week, a month, or a year?) (Lyan)
There was a brief silence, and Lyan could feel Griselda’s worry. He sighed and tried to reassure her.
(It’s fine. I tried to help, but I failed. We didn’t even find what we were searching for in the beginning. I failed to help and save the Duke as well. And I’m the one who decided to read his mory in the first place. It’s nothing for you to worry about) (Lyan)
(Fine) (Griselda)
Griselda replied, her tone resolute.
(But I’ll be sure to rember this favor)
Lyan smiled, grateful for her concern despite her harsh tone.
(That much is appreciated)
With their conversation finished, Lyan turned his attention back to the won resting in his room. His heart felt heavy, the weight of his past and present struggles pressing down on him. But he knew he had to stay strong for those he cared about.
As he watched them sleep, he thought back to the interrogation of Duke Ravindor. The dark elves’ magic had been powerful, and the curse it left on him was a reminder of the dangers they faced. But Lyan was determined to overco it, just as he had overco so many other challenges.
He stood up, stretching his limbs and deciding to take another walk. The fresh air might help clear his mind and ease the lingering pain in his body. He quietly left the room, careful not to disturb the sleeping won, and made his way through the quiet halls of the House of Roses.
The night was calm, the stars twinkling above as Lyan stepped outside. He took a deep breath, savoring the cool night air. The city was quiet, and the peace of the mont allowed him to reflect on everything that had happened.
Lyan’s mind wandered back to the events with Duke Ravindor. They had discovered that the Duke had been implanted with dark elf magic, a dangerous and insidious spell that had caused him great suffering. When Lyan attempted to read the Duke’s mory, the spell had reacted violently, attacking him and leaving a curse in its wake.
Despite Cynthia’s best efforts to heal him, the curse had left lasting damage. Lyan could feel it, a persistent ache deep within his body. But he was determined not to let it hinder him. He had too much to protect.
(But I guess it is quite serious, huh...) (Lyan)
Lyan thought inside his head as he continued his walk. This is his body, he knows the best about what is happening. Just like what Griselda got from Cynthia, despite the curse getting lifted right at that mont, the damage he got to his body is unexpected.
"I guess once again I got reminded about a human body’s limits, huh?" Lyan shrugged.
Back then, he also discarded his human body for an incubus one by entering demonification through great efforts. It’s all due to the weakness of a human’s body.
He can’t help but stop in his tracks.
"So this world, there are lots of races as well, huh..." Lyan uttered as his eyes beca distant.
He already encountered Tesha, a half-halfling, but since she’s the only one he t, it hadn’t struck through him quite yet before.
"It ans that there are various kinds of races, which ans various kinds of plots as well," Lyan uttered.
This is not a simple information. It holds a lot of things. And a lot of danger at the sa ti.
It ans that even though with the prince, their opponents might be still humans, there are chances of wars with different races in the future. The course of actions that the dark elf has taken proves his point.
Looking at his hand, his resolve molded.
"It ans that I need to make sure I could protect everyone," (Lyan)
As he walked through the city, Lyan’s thoughts turned to his new family and the responsibilities that ca with it. The Valkyries, the won at the House of Roses, and now the newborn creatures—they were all precious to him. He needed to be strong for them, to ensure their safety and happiness.
Lyan’s steps eventually led him to the outskirts of the city, where the quiet countryside offered a stark contrast to the bustling urban center. He found a secluded spot and sat down, letting the silence wash over him.
He thought about Griselda’s words and the concern she had shown. Despite her fierce deanor, she cared for him, and that ant a lot. Lyan knew he couldn’t ignore the damage the curse had caused, but he also knew he couldn’t let it define him.
As he sat there, Lyan made a promise to himself. He would find a way to heal completely quicker, to rid himself of the curse’s lingering effects. He would continue to protect those he loved, no matter the cost. And he would confront the dark elves and any other threats that ca their way, ensuring the safety of his new family.
Just as he’s in the middle of his thoughts, he closed his eyes as he called upon two loyal servants of his.
"Grimclaw, and... Hobgoblin, huh... Co out here," Lyan called out.
The two loyal servants appeared from his shadow, he doesn’t know since when they has been hiding inside his shadow, but he knows that they were just trying to protect him as well.
"The both of you are worried about as well, huh?" Lyan chuckled before standing. "Let’s go ho,"
With a renewed sense of determination, Lyan stood up and began his walk back to the House of Roses. The journey ahead would be challenging, but he was ready to face it head-on. He had the strength of his loved ones behind him, and he would not let them down.
As he entered the House of Roses, Lyan felt a sense of calm wash over him. The sight of the won sleeping peacefully brought a smile to his face. He knew he had a long road ahead, but he was ready to face it with them by his side.
Lyan quietly returned to his room, settling into a chair as he watched over his sleeping companions. The stars outside continued to shine, a reminder that even in the darkest tis, there was always light. And with that thought, Lyan allowed himself to rest, his heart filled with hope and determination for the future.
