"Good job."

Zola encouraged with a shout, and with a forceful push from her legs, she dashed forward so swiftly that only afterimages were visible to the naked eye.

After all, she herself was a lower-tier Demon Hunter, and while most of her resistance enhancents were applied to her spirit, there was also so enhancent to her body which absolutely surpassed that of an ordinary person by a great margin.

Add to that her full set of three-dinsional maneuver gear, the combined power definitely achieved an effect greater than the sum of its parts.

Although a warrior like Rachel, trained and equipped with a full set of armor, could intimidate so junior Demon Hunters, it certainly didn’t include those at the affiliated level.

When it ca to Demon Hunters who harbored organs of the affiliated level, not only would they awaken so even stranger abilities, but even the incidental physical transformation would enhance their bodies to non-human levels.

In just the blink of an eye, Zola had reached the perplexing form in front of her—her firearm pointing toward where she guessed its head would be.

After all, the manifested semi-transparent shadow was quite blurry, sowhat resembling a continuously morphing jellyfish, and also very indistinct.

Bang!

The firearm exploded.

The faceless spirit was knocked back a step, but it wasn’t significantly hard.

On the contrary, around it, nurous semi-transparent tentacles, like whips, lashed down.

Zola rolled on the ground, nimbly dodging using the terrain.

Whoosh!

Just then, another whip shadow fell.

Zola’s eyes transford into vertical slits as she dropped her firearm, her right fist striking out fiercely.

Bang!

A blast echoed through the air as the tentacle was sent flying, the sound of it breaking carried through the air, while Zola herself kept retreating.

Contending in strength against monsters with a human body, even for a Demon Hunter, was a bit of a disadvantage.

’Rachel seems unable to move.’

Zhong Shenxiu thodically reloaded his rifle, aid in the direction of the faceless spirit, and suddenly fired two shots.

Pop, pop!

Two semi-transparent tentacles, their surfaces slick with strange patterns, were severed in the middle and fell to the ground, wriggling continuously.

"Nice shooting!"

Zola had just flashed this thought when she saw Li Wei fire again.

Bang!

He fired shot after shot, very resolutely—it seed like each bullet hit a consistent spot on the monster?

After the third gunshot, inexplicably, scales seed to fly out, and a transparent, viscous fluid flowed forth.

’This... He kept hitting the sa spot and finally broke through the defense, blowing off the creature’s scale armor?’

Zola felt she had to reevaluate her estimation of Li Wei’s marksmanship.

While the faceless spirit coiled back its tentacles, wildly dancing and shielding its vital points, she rolled forward and pressed a high-explosive charge onto its body before swiftly jumping away.

Boom!

The next mont, a massive explosion ensued, bursting painfully against everyone’s eardrums and causing continuous ringing in their ears.

Zhong Shenxiu erged from cover, waving his hand to disperse the dust before his eyes.

He saw Zola lying on the ground, seemingly caught in the explosion, her life or death unknown, while the huge monster at the original spot was left with only half a body, lting slowly like sludge without a skeleton.

"Is it dead?"

He stepped forward, felt Zola’s neck, and found she was still alive.

And in the direction of the Faceless Spirit, there seed to still be a faint danger lingering.

Just as he prepared to step forward to investigate, an intense drowsiness assailed him.

"This really is... seeking death."

Zhong Shenxiu slowly closed his eyes, falling into a dream.

Blurry, hazy, nearly incapable of controlling his body.

Ordinary people in dreams find it very difficult to realize they are dreaming and to take control of their bodies.

Zhong Shenxiu looked around at the grey, foggy environnt, then imdiately saw the Faceless Spirit.

At this ti, its size had clearly reduced by half, resembling a bioluminescent jellyfish with a humanoid posture in the dream.

Nurous patterns on the jellyfish’s surface flickered, trying to pollute him.

So covert contaminations were attempting to break through his spirit, entering even deeper places.

Zhong Shenxiu smiled, allowing the other’s actions while probing into the depths of his own spirit.

Gurgle gurgle!

After about a dozen seconds, the Faceless Spirit shook all over, as if it had seen sothing extrely terrifying, with every mysterious pattern and symbol that composed its form disintegrating.

Eventually, its huge body burst and evaporated like a bubble, leaving behind only an irregular crystal in the dream.

The crystal was the size of a baby’s fist, its material impure with countless bubbles constantly rising and breaking apart, and just as continuously being ford anew.

"A remnant organ of the Faceless Spirit, or perhaps, an attribute?"

He picked up the crystal, and it seed as if he could hear a faint murmuring in his ear.

Zhong Shenxiu didn’t pay attention to these, closing his eyes.

When he opened them again, he found himself looking at the real world after the explosion.

By then, Zola had already opened her eyes, standing there, staring at him coldly, with the gun barrel conveniently positioned for firing.

"Captain, I’m Li Wei..."

Zhong Shenxiu raised the crystal in his hand, "The Faceless Spirit has been severely injured by the explosion, and it tried to drag into the dream at the last mont, but it died first. This is what it dropped..."

"Indeed... it finally died."

Zola breathed out while looking at the crystal and then went back behind the barricade to check on Rachel and Joz.

"Rachel has been severely injured; there will be lingering issues with her spirit. If she can’t get ’Blood Redy’ treatnt quickly, she might beco half mad in the future."

"As for Joz, he was heavily wounded in the dream and has turned into a vegetative state."

After a round of checks, Zola got rather grim results, "Just one expedition and our team nearly got wiped out..."

"It’s all Koro’s fault; if not for him, we wouldn’t have entered that trap..."

Zhong Shenxiu consoled her, then looked at the crystal in his hand, "Do you want to use this trait, Captain? You’re a lower-class Demon Hunter, right? The Faceless Spirit was a mid-class... Also, it’s a spirit contaminant, quite compatible with you..."

Zola gave Zhong Shenxiu a deep look, "This is the spoils of war for all team mbers; let’s divide it when we get back... And besides, I no longer have plans to keep ascending. My becoming a lower-class Demon Hunter was just an accident; I have no intention of advancing further on this path..."

In fact, she had already felt that she had reached so sort of limit, and even if she perford the correct ritual and absorbed the organ, there was a high probability that she would go mad or even directly morph into a monster!

"Let’s hurry and get them out of here."

Zhong Shenxiu sighed, "The gunfire was one thing, but we even used explosives just now. Plus, without the deterrent presence of the Faceless Spirit, I fear we’ll attract a lot of monsters..."

"I’m afraid they’re already on their way."

Zola listened briefly and then looked down at the slight trembling of the ground.

This was a sign of a super-large flesh aberration approaching!
