The Notting Hill family was one of the well-known gangs in Byron City, controlling both the slums and the usurious lending business.
Together with the Rek family, who dealt in human trafficking and operated entertainnt venues, and the Gambina organization, known for their most violent behavior in extortion and misdeeds, they jointly controlled Byron City’s black market.
Of course, last year, all three gangs had ventured into the bootlegging business as the profits were insanely high, utterly crushing everything else.
After a fierce showdown, they had confird their respective territories and shares, agreeing not to interfere with each other, barely maintaining a facade of peace.
The "Clan Leader" of the Notting Hill family—Garcia was a fat man in his forties, plain-looking and outwardly ran a slaughterhouse, regarded by neighbors as a mild-tempered, very family-oriented man.
Almost no one could believe that the amiable Mr. Garcia was actually the infamous gang leader.
In fact, Garcia himself didn’t think he was doing evil; he was just doing a "job," nothing more.
Although he was a gang leader, he lived a normal life just like anyone else, with his own hobbies.
For example... he had recently taken up fishing.
After breakfast and a kiss goodbye to his beautiful wife, he was escorted by a few of his n into a carriage, bringing along a full set of fishing gear, and headed to a lake outside the city.
Upon arrival, after setting up the parasol, Garcia comfortably adjusted his fishing hook and rod.
It was then that he saw Sinisi, his "left hand," approaching, which imdiately soured his mood.
He knew that there must be so problem with the family’s business.
Otherwise, this left hand of the family wouldn’t have specifically co to disturb his leisure ti.
The highest authority in the Notting Hill family naturally belonged to the Clan Leader, followed by positions such as the executioner, left hand, and right hand.
The executioner was mainly responsible for punishing traitorous gang mbers, the left hand managed the daily business, while the right hand controlled external martial force.
There were also independent positions outside the family, such as finance and lawyers, with core family mbers often numbering over a hundred.
Besides these, there were nurous vassals depending on the Notting Hill family for their livelihood, like the Old Sea Dog’s bar previously.
"Old Sea Dog’s bar had an incident last night; soone raided his bar—it’s a provocation!"
Sinisi was a pale-faced man in his thirties, dressed in a neat blue suit, always with a white handkerchief pinned to his chest, though he was never seen using it.
Unlike the posturing Sinisi and Old Sea Dog, Garcia appeared as a completely ordinary middle-aged man, yet he wielded more power than the two.
"Old Sea Dog, I rember he just lanted that a batch of goods had been hijacked... Poor fellow."
Garcia frowned, not swinging his rod, but asked, "Did you find out who did it?"
He didn’t quite believe it was Rek or Gambina, guessing it was those poverty-crazed outsiders, which sowhat headache-inducing.
As local gangs, they actually had the duty to protect the city, at least to safeguard the residents who paid them protection money.
"It was ."
A young voice suddenly interjected.
Zhong Shenxiu, wearing a trench coat and carrying a fishing bucket, approached from another direction.
"Kid... do you realize what you are saying?"
Sinisi’s gaze instantly beca dangerously sharp, and his two n behind him even drew their revolvers.
"Old Sea Dog had a conflict with ; I killed him and intended to take over his bar, and of course... I know the rules, the protection money continues, plus an increase of 50%!"
Zhong Shenxiu, with a relaxed posture, sat next to Garcia and smiled, "How about that?"
"You are an interesting fellow, young man, you haven’t told your na yet."
Garcia asked with a smile.
"Li Wei!" Zhong Shenxiu answered, "Li Wei Mojito!"
"Li Wei? The naming style of your holand, are you Sirian?"
Garcia asked, as Siri was a colony in the soarican Federation, and since the major developnt, many Sirians had poured into the Federation.
And Li Wei’s appearance had so features typical of Sirians, like a high bridge of his nose.
"Yes."
"Kid, you’ve taken the wrong path..." Garcia said regretfully, "Since you are Sirian and had a conflict with Old Sea Dog, why didn’t you seek a family elder for diation?"
Here, the "parent" is not a real parent but refers to the Clan Leader of the Notting Hill family.
The reason the gang is nad a "family" is that it only recruits Sirians.
Garcia looked at the young man and suddenly felt a wave of disappointnt.
At this mont, if the other party were still rational, he should have knelt down and kissed his left hand to beg for forgiveness.
But Zhong Shenxiu just sat there, doing nothing.
"How is Old Sea Dog?"
"He’s dead, along with the bodyguards. I handled the bodies very well," Zhong Shenxiu calmly replied.
Garcia shook his head, signaling Sinisi to take action and punish this crazy kid.
"I think we can still reach an agreent, don’t you think?"
Zhong Shenxiu really didn’t want to continue killing through the Notting Hill family; if things kept going this way, federal agents would be next, then so mysterious forces would be drawn out.
Although this was also a way to make contact, it did not conform to his usual behavior.
If it had only been yesterday’s shooting, the Notting Hill family could still have kept it under wraps.
After all, more people had died in firefights initially for control of the bootleg liquor market among the three big gangs.
And for the Federation, the death of any number of gang mbers was a good thing, and they weren’t really pursued.
Seeing that Garcia was not moved by his words, Zhong Shenxiu sighed and opened his overcoat.
Garcia’s pupils constricted, and his large body twisted unnaturally as if he wanted to stand and run wildly but was held down by Zhong Shenxiu.
Sinisi saw the young man’s waist tied with a band— a band of gunpowder!
’This is a madman! An utter madman!’
He thought to himself, stepping back unconsciously, then thought it safer to take a few more steps.
This distance, once it exploded, would involve even him!
"Your left hand doesn’t seem to care much about your safety, does it..."
Zhong Shenxiu laughed heartily, wrapping his arms around the stiff Garcia’s shoulders, "Look, we still have common topics to discuss, don’t we? Co for a walk with ."
Saying this, he pulled Garcia along for a stroll by the lake.
"How are you considering my proposal?"
Zhong Shenxiu asked, seemingly casually.
"Old Sea Dog’s bar is his own property, taking it over involves a series of procedural troubles..." Garcia’s forehead beaded with sweat, but his voice remained steady.
"I heard that the lawyers of the Notting Hill family are very good, I believe they are worth their salaries." Zhong Shenxiu grinned, placing his palm on the fuse tied around his waist.
"Fine, you win, the bar is yours," Garcia finally caved.
"Great. My previous promise still stands, may our friendship last." Zhong Shenxiu waved his hand, vanishing into the jungle.
Garcia’s face turned an ashen color, giving the following Sinisi a slap.
Behind him, two gunn aid at the dense forest with no clear target.
"This is a madman, we must kill him." Garcia wiped his sweat, just then realizing his voice had begun to tremble.
"Boss, there’s trouble!"
Just then, several other carriages ca rushing, and Notting Hill’s ’right-hand man’ Miller jumped down and ran quickly over with a look of surprise, "What happened here?"
"You tell yours first," Garcia’s face darkened.
"Old Sea Dog and his n, or rather their bodies, all turned up in our fireplace eting room."
Miller spoke gravely: "Soone not only knows our headquarters but has bypassed all the periter security, accomplishing this... It’s a warning!"
Garcia’s legs weakened, suddenly thinking of the person who had left, "Is it him... Is this a warning to that next ti, he could sneak into any of our hos and do anything he wants?"
Sinisi, holding his face, dared not look up, speaking softly, "This is a madman, but also a very rational madman. It’s best not to wage war rashly without being sure of a solution..."
