MORNING!

Night is naturally the ti to rest and regain energy lost during the day, as is the case for all diurnal creatures. Sadly, this pattern was altered for the likes of Winterseed soldiers who spent the whole of the night battling against the endless hordes of savage monsters.

Despite five hours having passed, the battlefield was still as chaotic as it had been in the beginning, almost as though they hadn't slain over ten thousand monsters yet.

From above, one could see the soldiers utilizing their last vestiges of sanity and strength rely to defend against the monsters, as they had insufficient power to launch even the simplest attack.

One could also see Blaze utilizing its fla attribute attacks to clear off monsters as quickly as he could. He was surrounded by mostly burnt corpses.

Far away from the battlefield, the endless hordes continued their relentless charge.

Above the endless hordes, Black Drifter could be seen drifting through the sky while unleashing nurous wind attribute attacks upon the monsters, reducing their numbers as quickly as it could without sustaining injuries.

If there were a contribution system on this battlefield, Black Drifter would rank second only to Rowan.

Not only had it defeated the twenty-plus powerful bird-type monsters, but it had also slain more than five hundred weaker, ground-moving monsters.

Black Drifter was the trump card of this battle — without its presence, at least half of Rowan's army would have perished at the hands of flying monsters such as the inferno eagle, Ice-fire eagle, and the dark Phoenix, all of which possess powerful long-range attacks.

[ There are still so many of them, Master, but I can see an end now. ]

Black Drifter reported to Rowan as it drifted toward the end of the horde.

[ But there are far stronger monsters at the back, their powers far surpass mine. ]

Black Drifter reported every important detail as he saw fit.

"Alright, co, I need your help here," Rowan replied telepathically.

Black Drifter executed a swift U-turn midair and blasted toward the battlefield, arriving in a matter of seconds.

It hovered above the battlefield, observing the chaotic scene — its gaze descended upon Blaze, evoking a sudden sense of familiarity.

[ That Ashfire wolf... Is Blaze, the bratty pet? ]

Rowan responded positively, he wasn't even surprised that Black Drifter could identify Blaze's race so easily — after all, they were both divine beasts.

"Take as many soldiers as you can and move them far away from the battlefield," Rowan ordered.

[ Hmm ]

Black Drifter drifted toward the ground imdiately and obeyed the command — it grabbed the soldiers swiftly and gently placed them on its back.

Most of the soldiers were already utterly worn out and so exhausted that they could not even question their situation. Since they recognized Black Drifter and knew it had saved them earlier, they relaxed their minds and allowed it to take them, thereby making the task easier for it. Sadly, it was only able to contain eleven soldiers on its back.

However, it employed its claws and beak to grasp an extra five soldiers, and then it soared into the sky once again toward a safe location.

With aerial dominance, it was able to maneuver swiftly through the air while ensuring the soldiers on its back remained safe.

He reached a distant spot and placed the soldiers down before returning to the battlefield to repeat the sa action, each ti grabbing a total of sixteen soldiers and moving them to the safe area.

Black Drifter continued this looping movent for more than forty minutes.

Rowan complinted it from ti to ti, fueling its determination to do more.

After another five minutes had passed, Black Drifter arrived and retrieved the last group of soldiers from the battlefield.

With the soldiers now removed, the hordes charged toward Rowan and Blaze.

Hundreds of monsters charged at the two of them simultaneously.

[ Too many!! ]

Blaze complained imdiately.

"I know, but this is the only way we can win this battle without sacrificing the lives of my soldiers, alright?" Rowan explained to his pet.

Blaze grumbled, but he had no choice but to accept.

If they were to flee from this battlefield, the monsters would simply continue charging until they discovered a new location to attack.

"You can attempt your breakthrough," Rowan suggested, "do not worry about the monsters, Black Drifter and I will protect you while you attempt your breakthrough."

Blaze's eyes brightened upon hearing Rowan's suggestion — though he had wanted to comnt on the peculiar na of his new colleague, the excitent of attempting his second major breakthrough filled him with anticipation.

Without wasting any ti, it leaped into the air and headed toward Rowan's location.

At that mont, Black Drifter had already returned.

WHIRLWIND!

He created a massive whirlwind among the charging monsters, sending them flying in all directions.

The whirlwind granted Rowan and Blaze enough ti to pursue their objective.

"Inventory."

Rowan opened his inventory and retrieved ten E-rank monster cores, which he then tossed to Blaze.

Blaze swallowed them imdiately.

As usual, its body began to glow and levitate above the ground as Blaze's system rapidly absorbed the powerful mana stored within the monster cores.

Rowan was greeted with the usual notification.

He couldn't even read the short text before a group of monsters, who had survived Black Drifter's Whirlwind, shrieked loudly and charged toward them.

BUBBLE SHIELD!

Rowan cast a bubble shield spell over Blaze.

He equipped his sword imdiately and launched at the group, slashing and stabbing indiscriminately.

WIND STRIKE!

Black Drifter did not stand back either — it sent a powerful wind force smashing toward the monsters.

BOOM!

The force of the wind smashed and pounded the monsters it struck into a atpaste, except for their monster cores, no other part of their bodies remained in one piece.

Nevertheless, this brutal attack still wasn't enough to deter the monsters, as they were under a magical control that stripped them of their other senses, leaving only hunger and anger.

Fortunately, Rowan and Black Drifter were able to handle the onslaught while Blaze achieved his breakthrough to the Superior realm!
