Zhang Yang didn’t just give them a clue—he basically threw those two A-Class fugitives right in their faces.
If they still didn’t act, that would be plain incompetence.
An international wanted notice carried weight across countries. Anyone marked A-Class was a dangerous criminal who’d pulled off serious cris.
"Director Victor, looks like we’re not catching Kaitō Kid tonight."
"Those two A-Class fugitives might also be here for Musée Guit. Let’s shift the operation and go after them instead."
Since they were in France, Harrison could only make suggestions. He had no final say.
Victor had already led people through a full search of the museum. It had been a total waste of effort. At this point, he’d lost all hope of catching Kaitō Kid tonight.
And Jeff and Daweika weren’t just small-ti crooks. They had past records of theft and robbery—major cases. Musée Guit had already been robbed once before. It wasn’t far-fetched to think these two had plans for it too.
Victor nodded. "Alright, let’s go."
"We’ll split into three teams. Stay calm."
By now, so people in the crowd had seen Zhang Yang’s new post. Cries of surprise started breaking out.
"Oh my god! A-Class fugitives? Right outside the museum? Among us?"
"What the hell? Where are they?"
"Is this for real? A-Class fugitives... in France?"
"Jesus, where are they? Is Kaitō Kid’s post legit?"
"Why would A-Class fugitives be here? Isn’t anyone doing sothing about this?"
All the murmuring caught Jeff and Daweika’s attention. They quickly pulled out their phones and refreshed Zhang Yang’s page.
The mont they saw their own wanted posters in his post, their hearts nearly stopped. Both of them jumped down from the off-road vehicle.
"Shit! That damn Kaitō Kid—he spotted us!"
"Jeff, move! Bruce and the others will be here any second!"
As soon as Zhang Yang dropped the post, the crowd began to stir.
Nobody wanted to be standing near world-class criminals. The area turned chaotic as everyone rushed to get in their cars and drive away.
Jeff slamd his hand on the horn. Car alarms and honks echoed in all directions.
"Damn it!"
"Get out of the car. We’ll run for it in the chaos!"
Daweika saw Bruce leading a squad their way, moving fast and aggressive. He knew they were in trouble.
There were people and cars cramd everywhere. No way they could escape like this.
Unless they floored it and plowed through, which would definitely injure a lot of people. The fallout from that would be massive, and the manhunt afterward would be even worse.
They jumped out of the SUV and tried to blend into the crowd, slipping away while they still had the chance.
But just as they were about to break through the mass of people, they spotted Victor leading a team coming right toward them from the front.
"Shit... Daweika, what do we do now?"
Jeff lowered his head. He was tall, way too visible in a crowd.
Daweika was panicking too.
They hadn’t prepared for anything like this. They’d been waiting this whole ti for Kaitō Kid to show up.
Now suddenly, the prey had beco them—and they were cornered.
"Stay calm. The crowd’s a ss right now. Worst case, we take a hostage!"
Daweika’s eyes were full of nace. Even if it ca to a last stand, surrender wasn’t an option.
With the cris they’d committed, turning themselves in would only an rotting in prison for life. No chance of leniency.
[Damn it, what are you doing? Why won’t you let us leave?]
[There are A-Class fugitives here! You trying to get us killed?]
[These Enforcent Bureau idiots—how could they let A-Class fugitives show up in France?]
[With so many people here, shouldn’t evacuation co first? Why stop everyone from leaving?]
[This is ridiculous! If you’ve got the guts, go catch them—why hold us up?]
Victor, Bruce, and Harrison had already surrounded the area with their teams. They weren’t trying to stop an evacuation, just making sure it was done in an orderly way.
If they let everyone go all at once, Jeff and Daweika would easily slip out in the chaos.
With over one hundred Enforcent Bureau agents, they had more than enough manpower to handle this.
After opening up a few controlled exits, the crowd started to clear out in order.
From his perch on the stone beam, Zhang Yang sat watching everything unfold through the window. His gaze never left Jeff and Daweika.
As the crowd thinned out, those two got desperate and hijacked two cars.
But instead of hiding inside the cars, they crawled into the trunks.
"Not bad. They’ve got so brains after all. Bruce and Victor didn’t even think to check the trunks."
Zhang Yang chuckled. These two were A-Class fugitives for a reason.
Still, Zhang Yang had no intention of letting them get away. They weren’t the only contestants in this ga. There were definitely others.
If everyone was like Formoka, that’d be fine. But seeing these two made Zhang Yang seriously doubt how legit this competition was.
Even A-Class fugitives got invitation letters? Who knows what kind of people are coming next?
He had to use these two as an example—to warn whoever was watching from the shadows.
"Bruce’s team is way too sloppy."
As he spoke, Zhang Yang pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
Bruce was busy helping with the evacuation when his phone suddenly rang in his pocket.
"Director Bruce. This is Kaitō Kid. Hello there!"
The second he answered and heard the voice, Bruce’s eyes widened and his whole face changed.
He spun around and growled into the phone in a low voice, "Kaitō Kid? What do you want now?"
Even if they hadn’t caught Zhang Yang, they were ready to wrap up the operation.
Now they had to stay late chasing two A-Class fugitives. If Jeff and Daweika were easy to catch, they wouldn’t have ended up on the world’s A-Class wanted list.
Zhang Yang laughed softly. His tone was calm.
"Director Bruce, if you keep going about it this way, you’ll never catch them."
"I’m just giving you a heads-up. Daweika’s hiding in the trunk of a silver sedan. Jeff’s in the trunk of a white SUV."
"I just want to help you clock out sooner. It’s been a pleasure seeing you and Director Harrison in France. Goodbye!"
With that, Zhang Yang hung up.
Bruce stared at the phone, still hearing the dial tone. He froze on the spot.
He looked all around, hoping to spot Kaitō Kid.
"Shit! Kaitō Kid knows more than we do. Where the hell is he?!"
Frowning deeply, Bruce turned and scanned the crowd and vehicles.
Then he passed along Zhang Yang’s tip to Victor and Harrison.
After hearing it, both n felt a chill run down their backs. Cold sweat followed.
