Chapter 946: Chapter 5 Falling into the River Chapter 946: Chapter 5 Falling into the River The Bloody Mary sailed down the river, the townspeople left in its wake as it distanced itself from their small town, and the signal on their electronic devices grew progressively weaker.

“Oh, damn it, I can’t hear you. Can you hear ?”

“Can you hear now?”

“What about now?”

Half-blood beauty Gail swayed on the deck, attempting to catch a signal away from the town.

“We can hear you,” the rest of the team teased from the side, their attitude toward the company representative overseeing them less than cordial.

Gail ignored the jeers, unaware she had reached the fence gate; she leaned against it, asking into the phone once more, “Can you hear now?”

Just as the words left her mouth, the fence gate gave way. Gail found herself suddenly backless, plunged into a strong sensation of weightlessness that startled her, and before she could cry for help, she let out a shocked yelp.

The team mbers, who had been mocking her, hadn’t expected this; but before their backsides could leave their seats, a figure leaped forward, catching Gail’s arm before she fell into the water and helping her back up.

“Are you okay?”

Bi Fang glanced at Gail, ensuring she was alright before letting go of her, then shut the open fence gate and slid the bolt into place.

Gail, still recovering from her scare, breathed heavily and, looking at the murky water, couldn’t help but feel a wave of relief.

The dangers lurking beneath the waters of Borneo were no less formidable than those of the Amazon River, with crocodiles, pythons, and many other top underwater predators to be found.

“Wow, buddy, where did you spring from? You moved so fast I thought a bolt of lightning had passed by,” exclaid Boris, who appeared out of nowhere, clapping Liang Qu’s shoulder in admiration.

At this point, Gail had cald down from her panic and thanked Bi Fang: “Thank you.”

“Don’t ntion it,” he replied, “but your phone’s gone too, afraid it’s lost for good.”

Gail showed a resigned expression, staring at the rippling water’s surface, with no option but to accept what had happened.

Another slight change in the plot had occurred.

Bi Fang walked to the edge of the boat and dipped his hand into the water.

Crocodiles lurking in the water circled the boat slowly before vanishing from sight.

No python in sight.

Bi Fang shook the water off his hands.

Having had so many adventures on the old Earth, the System had given him an array of awards. Apart from endowing him with a physique of superhuman strength, it had also provided him with many unusual abilities like mitochondrial efficiency and neural reflexes—not to ntion the Wolf King’s Sense of Sll and the Fish King’s Stomach, which were always incredibly useful skills.

There was one ability, Biological Sensing, whose presence he always felt was muted—an additional reward attained after battling a school of sharks.

The principle involved was like a shark’s electroreceptive network, which had highly sensitive detection capabilities, able to sense even the electrical signals emitted by the muscle contractions of creatures buried in the sand.

While the effect was significantly diminished in Bi Fang, it was almost negligible on land, but in water, it functioned almost like a personal radar that could directly perceive specific situations dozens of ters away.

The waters were murky, and danger was as ever-present as shadows, with movie scenes featuring multiple pythons launching attacks in the water, ratcheting up the atmosphere of fear. Yet for Bi Fang, endowed with Biological Sensing, aquatic creatures were as exposed as if under the full glare of sunlight, leaving him nothing to worry about.

An uneventful day passed, and the dense jungles on both riverbanks grew even deeper.

Gail, having suffered an accident, beca much more amiable, and her relationship with the team mbers eased a lot.

At night, the rainstorm returned.

The water level in the river rose rapidly, and Bi Fang, wearing a raincoat, patrolled back and forth on the boat. Seeing Captain Bill take Doctor Bill into the captain’s quarters, he knew the turning point of the story had arrived.

Both “Python Disaster 1” and “2” had a McAlphon setting, which dictates that there must be a reason forcing the protagonist group to move forward quickly, thus advancing the plot.

In the first installnt, it was because a wasp had entered the professor’s throat, and the protagonist group hurried to the hospital for surgery.

This ti, the Blood Orchid would wither within a week, and the protagonist group had to rush to harvest it.

Under this premise, Bi Fang had never offered any suggestions, just followed the boat, because he knew that unless he held a knife to everyone’s throat, making them face the threat of death, they would not be persuaded.

Blocking soone’s wealth is like killing their parents.

As expected, in the captain’s quarters, Captain Bill originally intended to persuade Doctor Jack to reconsider by raising the price temporarily, but the move backfired. Doctor Jack counteroffered to take the original route at a higher price to reach the destination as soon as possible.

The next day, the overnight downpour subrged the river banks, making the river confluence completely invisible.

When Captain Bill woke up, the disaster was already at hand.

Debris in the river clogged the propeller and damaged the engine’s lining. When they finally managed to see the fork in the river, they found they’d already passed it.

The cliff waterfall was now close at hand, and the group was thrown into chaos.

Bi Fang rushed into the room, a chopping knife tucked into his lower back and a Burse Knife secured diagonally across him. After ensuring everything was secured, he put on his backpack and returned to the group.

Gang Zi was yelling at the front of the boat but was lifted up by a palm.

“Stop yelling, be quiet.”

Bi Fang held Gang Zi in his arms, unlike everyone else who was panicked, his face wore an excited expression.

“Everyone, hold on tight!”

Bi Fang and Ah-Quan shouted in unison.

The waterfall was not high, only about a dozen ters, and with the boat’s plunge, it was hard to get injured.

Several people were confused, but under fear, they still subconsciously grabbed onto the boat.

At that mont, the boat approached the waterfall.

The Bloody Mary shook violently, followed by the boat beginning to tip. Everyone’s abdominal muscles involuntarily tensed, and they could distinctly feel their adrenaline rushing.

The tipping of the boat grew more severe, and the passengers began to struggle to hold on, so couldn’t help but scream in terror.

When the center of gravity of the boat completely crossed the waterfall, a strong sensation of weightlessness ensued, and the massive boat plunged toward the riverbed.

Bi Fang gripped the railing tightly, took a deep breath, and in just a mont, a powerful impact transferred from the bow throughout the entire vessel.

The imnse inertia nearly pried their hands loose as if they had been struck hard on the back of the head, feeling dizzy and nauseous, with the sensation of vomiting rising from their stomachs to their throats.

River water quickly flooded into the cabin. Except for Bi Fang, most people were caught off guard and swallowed a few mouthfuls of water, but fortunately, everyone could swim.

Bi Fang easily located everyone using Biological Sensing and, pulling on their hands, he dragged them to the surface. After ensuring everyone erged, he pointed towards the riverbank and shouted, “Swim towards those rocks!”

Bi Fang’s voice was loud, instantly providing direction to the panicked people, easily spotting the rocks on the shore and all comnced swimming toward the riverbank.

Bill saw the boat sinking and had no choice but to swim towards shore, being the first to reach it, followed by Gail. The scattered group in the water was long, but one by one, they got to shore.

Bi Fang, half-carrying Sam who was lagging behind, hoisted them onto the shore. However, he didn’t take the hand that Captain Bill extended; instead, in front of everyone, he suddenly drew the Burse Knife from his waist and cut backwards!
