A sandstorm combined with a blizzard, what kind of devilish combination is this!?
Even Bi Fang was sowhat hopping mad and feeling pins and needles on his scalp at this mont. Any one of these disasters was enough for him to endure, yet they were happening simultaneously?
Though sandstorms and blizzards seed like two completely unrelated natural disasters, they actually had sothing in common.
The forr only requires three elents -- sand source, unstable atmospheric circulation, and strong winds.
Once these three elents are present, strong winds will lift massive amounts of sand and dust from the ground. As the sand and dust pass through, the air becos polluted, and visibility is noticeably reduced.
Skin, eyes, nose, and lungs are the first to co into contact with the sand and dust and are very prone to harm, especially the lungs, where the effects are more severe and widespread. A mont of carelessness could lead to a risk of suffocation.
At the sa ti, the large amounts of sand and dust carried by the sandstorm obscure the light, making the weather gloomy and causing solar radiation to decrease, further cooling the already cold Arctic.
As for blizzards, needless to say, their cause is even simpler and to so extent drives the sandstorms, resulting in the terrible disaster at this mont.
Both are among the most common types of natural disasters.
Last year, ngxin Country experienced a simultaneous outbreak of sandstorms and blizzards, with the number of casualties exceeding double digits.
Three drones quickly descended, following closely beside Bi Fang.
Watching the earthen dragon rolling towards them, Sanshao all involuntarily let out anxious whimpers, jumping around, clearly terrified to the extre.
"Co here!"
Bi Fang quickly grabbed the leash to prevent them from running off in fright. They had been together for less than two days, trust was not that high, and in the face of disaster, it was very likely they would break free and escape.
As a ans of transportation, these three sled dogs were each about the size of an Arctic Wolf, especially the largest one, Alaska, who stood as tall as a person and weighed over 90 pounds. If he hadn’t been starved, he might have reached 100 pounds.
It took quite an effort for Bi Fang to pull these three panicked giants.
The wind speed of the sandstorm definitely exceeded twenty ters per second. From the mont he saw it, escape was definitely not an option.
An earthen dragon composed of yellow sand and ice was sweeping in from the horizon. It didn’t take long for the sandstorm to cover half of the sky and then obscure the entire canopy.
With the earth dragon drawing nearer, more and more fine sand desperately tried to burrow into Bi Fang’s nostrils, making it almost impossible for him to breathe. The sky was full of sand and dust; it was clearly dayti, yet the sky was dark and gray.
Bi Fang, holding onto the leash, ca beside the sled. Although he had cut a lot of at from the musk ox’s body at the last mont, it was not exactly dismbered, and the overall shape of the ox was still intact.
After pulling apart the ropes, Bi Fang opened the musk ox along the cut near the breastbone and, to the surprise of the viewers, directly crawled inside. The space inside was so large that it even felt a bit spacious, but trying to fit Sanshao in there too was obviously a bit of a stretch, at most half another one could fit.
Having no choice, Bi Fang had to co out again, pull the musk ox open from the breastbone, lay it flat on the ground, cover it with fur, tighten the ropes, and quickly herd Sanshao inside.
When Fugui and Wangcai were all inside, Goudan, who was by the side, tried to take the Horn Helt in with him, but Bi Fang slapped it away and stuffed Goudan in by the neck, then crawled in himself.
So cramped.
Bi Fang’s first reaction was that it was crowded, but there was nothing he could do. To fit Sanshao inside, he had to expand the coverage area of the musk ox.
The only problem was that the seal was much poorer. Originally leaving just one gap, now there were gaps all around; fine sand could penetrate through these gaps, leaving nothing impenetrable.
```
Due to ti constraints, Bi Fang could barely manage to tie up the musk oxen and the furs, and didn’t have ti to tie a proper knot; he could only grip the end of the rope in his hand.
Just a few seconds later, Bi Fang felt the pull in his hand increase rapidly to a nearly unmanageable and terrifying extent.
The howling wind swept over his head, and the fiber rope in Bi Fang’s hand jerked violently, cutting a bloody gash in the palm of his hand. Fortunately, Bi Fang wound the rope around quickly, avoiding the chance of the obstacles above his head being blown away.
Accompanying the howling wind was a terrifying shrieking sound that seed to ld thousands of aggrieved souls into one, causing the three dogs to shiver uncontrollably and whimper without ceasing.
Thankfully, the situation had temporarily stabilized.
Bi Fang wound the rope around his hand a few more tis and breathed a sigh of relief.
The combination of a sandstorm and blizzard was indeed fearso, but the threat was more about persistence, like the previous blizzard that lasted four days.
Suddenly exposed to it, one wouldn’t die instantly as if bitten in the throat by a lion or tiger, but given slightly more ti, irreversible damage would ensue.
Sandstorms cause suffocation; the omnipresent sand clogs your organs, ultimately leading to asphyxiation.
Blizzards bring hypothermia; the fierce wind with its chilling effect rapidly strips away any shred of warmth from the body, and reaching a critical point, one would freeze to death in the storm.
After the fierce wind, Bi Fang could already feel the temperature dropping around him, but thankfully it wasn’t significant, because they had fur over their heads and a musk oxen fra, and most crucially, they were accompanied by three large sources of warmth.
Bi Fang exhaled lightly, not daring to relax his grip, but he knew he couldn’t hold out for long. He looked around at his environnt and pulled on the rope with effort, feeling an increased pressure above his body. He then wrapped the rope around the sled’s baseline and tied a knot, securing it firmly.
After doing all this, Bi Fang finally took a mont to glance at the barrage of comnts, which were already crowded on the screen, making it difficult to discern the content.
The viewers in the live broadcast room couldn’t see anything either, not only because there was no light source—even though there was a night mode available—the cara was pointed at the ground.
All three drones were pressed under Bi Fang, completely obscuring any view.
[It’s really a sandstorm.]
[Is Old Fang alright?]
[Old Fang, Old Fang, if you receive this, please respond, please respond.]
"Received, received, this is Old Fang, speak quickly if there’s sothing," Bi Fang joked upon finally making out a comnt.
[Whew, we thought sothing had happened to you.]
"Not at all, in fact, as long as things are handled properly and supplies are ample, weather disasters are not that scary," Bi Fang replied.
Bi Fang turned over in the extrely cramped space, laying on his side to make the tight space a bit more bearable.
"There’s no need to panic when encountering a sandstorm either; just hide in an enclosed space and cover your mouth and nose, and you’ll be fine. As for blizzards, this isn’t our first encounter, is it?"
By now, this was already the third blizzard Bi Fang had encountered.
Blizzards are different from downpours; a torrential rain usually lasts just a few hours, but blizzards are often counted in days, and it’s not unusual for them to last two or three days, or even a week.
