Chapter 338: Chapter 336: Walking in the Sky
“Is this a ventilation duct? I’m not quite sure either.”
After embracing the round pipe, Bi Fang exhibited a rare sense of perplexity.
The duct was different from the usual, not smooth but with many small pipes protruding from it, offering cheap and suitable handholds for climbing. Among the selected routes, this ventilation duct was the easiest to ascend.
“This is sowhat similar to climbing trees. I have explained long ago that before moving, you must ensure the stability of every foothold. What you need to be mindful of this ti is the presence of oil and dirt, which is common in factories. It’s almost impossible to find any surface not sared with oil in these areas, so be extra careful when reaching out for them.”
Bi Fang stretched out his hand, showing the audience the black grease on his palm, which was very greasy and could easily sar off in large swaths with a casual wipe.
Luckily, the presence of dust made the situation not as bad. With dust, even if things were slippery, the extent was limited.
“Always rember the three-point rule, which is the most crucial among all climbing laws. Three out of four limbs must be firmly fixed on the attachnts, distributed at three different points to form a stable base.
If both feet are placed in one spot, it is only considered one anchor point.”
As a veteran, Bi Fang was highly proficient in climbing simple ventilation ducts, and the audience could only watch his smooth ascent. If it were not a live broadcast, they might even suspect he had rehearsed on the spot nurous tis—how else could he be so skilled?
[I always feel that Old Fang is getting better and better. When I first watched his live broadcast, it wasn’t as smooth as it is now, although it was also impressive, but it doesn’t feel as remarkable as now]
[Impressive, but not completely impressive]
[Feels stronger than the rock climbing coaches at my local, decisive and powerful, super steady!]
Among the audience, those who knew their stuff could tell that Bi Fang’s climbing moves seed simple, but were not achievable without extensive training.
It was really strange.
Looking at Bi Fang’s youthful face, many silently sighed in their hearts.
There truly are geniuses in this world.
Soon, Bi Fang reached the end of the ventilation duct, next to which was a steel beam, solid and cold.
“This climb was quite strenuous and dirty, but I’ve already reached the first layer, and I’m closer to the goal now.”
Bi Fang grasped the I-beam with his hand, his sleeve slipping down to reveal the smooth muscle lines of his forearm. His legs clamped tightly around the ventilation duct, still not daring to relax.
Stretching his arms, he pulled his upper body up to the bar, and Bi Fang gradually released the duct. Finally, he stood slowly on the I-beam made of steel.
The drone flew right in front of Bi Fang, filming ticulously.
Looking from above, the height of over fifteen ters made all the viewers hold their breath, as if they were walking on a highwire, with everyone sweating for Bi Fang.
Especially when the drone’s cara captured his feet perched on the I-beam, that tension was once again cruelly heightened.
It’s that familiar Master Fang flavor!
Standing on the beam, Bi Fang balanced his body and pointed at a nearby window, saying,
“Look, there is a broken window up top, I reckon that’s the passageway where pigeons co and go. There’s a good chance pigeons are nesting there. We’ll go check it out, but we might as well make so preparations first.”
With that said,
Bi Fang untied a coarse hemp rope from around his waist, one he had found below, wrapped one end of the rope around his waist, then passed it through the I-beam and started tying a knot.
“Since we will be crossing over, for the sake of precaution, we still need to take so safety asures. Here I will teach everyone a knot, the figure-eight knot, nad so because it resembles the shape of the number ‘8’ when tied.
The figure-eight knot is often used in situations requiring high slip resistance. It’s used in rappelling, rock climbing, and so forth. We first cross the tail end of the rope, thread the end through the loop after winding it around the main rope, wrap it around twice and then tighten it to complete the knot. It’s simple to tie and the knot is quite secure, a classic thod.”
The figure-eight knot is not hard to learn, and once you hold the end of the rope, it hardly cos undone automatically, making it a very convenient knot.
As he spoke, Bi Fang’s fingers deftly worked, and soon a knot resembling the number 8 was tied.
Standing on the beam, Bi Fang pulled at the rope, finding it secure. Assured of his safety, he then extended his right foot, inching toward the other side of the factory bit by bit.
[Damn, this is exhilarating!]
[Unbelievable, seriously unbeatable, just go for the thrill without a second word!]
[There’s a type of fear in the world that’s scary just by looking at it]
Ignoring the comnts, Bi Fang cald his mind, breathed steadily, and seed unfazed by the environnt.
This was actually the necessary ntal quality for any adventurous act; a calm mind ensured steady hands, and without calmness, the likelihood of accidents was greater.
So he couldn’t be afraid, he just had to keep moving forward relentlessly.
Moreover, the I-beam was not a wire rope, walking on it was much smoother than on the wire rope, as long as he kept his center of gravity within a controllable range.
Dragging the hemp rope, Bi Fang quickly arrived at the opposite side of the I-beam.
From here, the path was much easier, with a narrow corridor and railing available.
Undoing the knot, Bi Fang flipped over and landed inside the railing, which finally let the audience breathe a sigh of relief, but before they could recover, they heard Bi Fang’s voice again.
“We can try climbing up from here.”
Bi Fang stepped onto the railing and climbed along the pipe once more, reaching a height of nearly thirty ters this ti!
He then stepped onto another rail!
Whoa!
This ti, no one could stay calm, because this rail was different from the previous ones, looking from the side like a gate, long and flat, impossible to tie a knot to!
Even its width was narrower than the previous I-beam!
Yet, under these circumstances, Bi Fang took only two deep breaths before slowly extending his right foot out, but this ti, he didn’t imdiately follow with his left foot.
He looked ahead, his expression solemn and somber, even sowhat cold and severe, as he needed to find the right mont to engage.
Walking at such a height, one had to move in one go, without any pause.
The audience waited a full five minutes before they saw Bi Fang’s toes leave the ledge and fully step onto the rail!
What followed was a chanical advancent, eerily calm.
The online friends were so shocked that they beca sowhat numb, it was okay before when there was a “safety rope,” but now this situation scared them.
Too risky!
[How does he keep his balance?]
[Damn, this is fucking terrifying, and it’s live! Outrageous]
[I’m already in the hospital taking care of my grandfather]
[Good lord, how many tis has he been to the hospital now? Master Fang, such a devoted grandson]
[Every ti I watch a Master Fang livestream, the hospital loses a bed!]
[No livestream, then there’s a bed available!]
Climbing to the top of this factory roof was like climbing to the high canopy of a rainforest, both strength and skill were indispensable, and he still needed a clear mind at high altitudes.
At the edge, Bi Fang maintained his balance at all tis, his nerves were highly strung, all his senses were highly focused, even his sense of sll beca more sensitive.
The stench of rotting pigeons, the foul sll of bird droppings…
The sun outside the building gradually set, and the slanting sun shone through the window onto him, making him appear godlike.
