Lexio was not a man known for backing down, especially when he initially thought eliminating soone like Daniel would be a piece of cake.
Now, facing constant embarrassnt, he felt his reputation was at stake.
He looked at Leo and said, "You are my man. Attacking you is equivalent to slapping in the face. I said I’d help you get revenge, and I intend to keep that promise."
Leo continued to reason, "Lexio, in Serenalia we have an old saying, ’A gentleman’s revenge can wait for ten years.’ We don’t have any deep-seated hatred with Daniel. It’s probably best to avoid unnecessary conflicts for now."
"Since soone from Congress has intervened, Daniel must have so powerful connections we aren’t aware of."
Lexio fell into deep thought.
Despite his rashness, he was still receptive to good advice.
Leo had a point.
The current priority should be the family gathering; this was not the ti to stir up trouble.
With a cold expression, Lexio said, "In that case, we’ll give him a pass... for now."
"But once I beco the Godfather, he will have his couppance!"
Leo remained silent, his eyes clouded with worry.
He didn’t believe Lexio was capable of becoming the Godfather.
Just then, one of their n ca running up. "He confessed, the old man confessed!"
Lexio imdiately turned around, "Who?!"
The man replied, "The old guy said he sold it to a young man nad Daniel."
"Daniel?" Lexio was sowhat taken aback, "Are you sure it was Daniel?"
The man fervently nodded his head. Seeing this, Lexio started to laugh.
What a coincidence!
He was considering sparing Daniel’s life, but the man seed to have a death wish, throwing himself right into Lexio’s line of fire.
Staring at Leo, Lexio sneered, "Since we’ve tried to kill him nurous tis without success, let’s lure him here instead."
Leo’s brow furrowed, he knew Lexio was adamant about settling scores with Daniel.
...
When Daniel awoke, he instinctively reached out to hold Rachel.
But to his surprise, she was not there. "Rachel?" he called out.
Daniel searched around the apartnt but found no trace of Rachel.
She might have gone to work, he thought.
His stomach rumbled, reminding him that he needed breakfast.
He whipped up a sandwich in the kitchen and sat at the dining table, leisurely munching while looking at the system’s purchase-human feature.
Elkampen Belle, a gold mine purchaser, located at Golden Shores.
Thrilled, Daniel quickly finished his sandwich and hastened out of the house.
He found the gold business card in his car and dialed the number on it.
A raspy voice answered the call, "Hello?"
"Mr. Belle, it’s Daniel, we t at the antique city," Daniel responded swiftly.
Elkampen responded promptly, sounding pleasantly surprised, "Mr. Daniel, I rember you! What can I do for you?"
Without hesitation, Daniel said, "I have a business proposition I’d like to discuss in person, when would be a good ti?"
There was a pause on the other end before Elkampen responded, "You can co to my estate tomorrow morning. I will have my butler send you the address. I could even send soone to pick you up if needed."
With the address, Daniel assured him, "I can get there on my own."
"Very well, I will await your arrival tomorrow morning."
With that, Daniel ended the call.
The sky was beginning to darken, and Rachel still hadn’t returned.
Daniel dialed Sophia’s number, but strangely, no one picked up.
When he tried again, he was directly hung up on.
Daniel furrowed his brows.
He had a feeling that sothing was off.
Sophia wouldn’t just hang up on him.
Could sothing have happened?
A wave of dread washed over Daniel, and he quickly started the car, leaving the yard.
Shortly after, he arrived at Sophia’s apartnt building.
He didn’t bother to lock the car and headed straight upstairs.
After knocking on the door for a while, Sophia’s roommate answered.
After asking a few questions, Daniel realized that even her roommate didn’t know where Sophia had gone. He thanked the roommate and left.
Back in his car, Daniel was about to start the engine when his phone rang.
"Hello, Mr. Daniel," a strange voice ca through the line, clearly altered with a voice changer.
A sense of foreboding overwheld him, and he couldn’t help but link this with Sophia’s sudden disappearance.
Indeed, the voice on the line continued, "Your girlfriend is in my custody. If you want her to live, bring the proof of the land with the gold mine to .
"The address is RGB Bar, 8th Street, Golden Shores. Rember, don’t even think about calling the police. I’m watching you closely, and the mont you even consider contacting the authorities, your girlfriend will die."
Daniel’s eyes turned frosty, his voice cold as he demanded, "Let hear my girlfriend’s voice first!"
After a pause, an anxious shout ca from the phone, "Daniel, don’t worry about , don’t you dare co to save !" The sentence was cut off with the sound of a muffled struggle.
The voice changer ca back on, "I’ve t your demand, now I hope you can et mine."
"I don’t have much patience, so you’d better get moving quickly, otherwise, I can’t guarantee how your girlfriend will be treated," the voice said before hanging up.
Daniel didn’t waste any ti.
After setting his GPS for the RGB Bar, he took off at top speed.
Along the way, he couldn’t help but worry and puzzle over the situation.
How did these kidnappers know about the gold mine on his land?
Only the Abel Alan brothers were privy to that information.
Could they have leaked it?
Maybe, but his priority right now was to find a way to rescue Sophia.
As long as Sophia was safe, even if it cost him a gold mine, Daniel was willing to pay the price!
At the RGB Bar, in the private room in the furthest recess of the establishnt, Sophia sat tied up on the floor, tears streaming down her face, her eyes full of fear.
Lexio, a gleam of lust in his eyes, let out a vile chuckle, "Such a beautiful woman, I wish I could have so fun with you right now." Just the thought sent shivers of excitent through his body.
Lexio crouched down in front of Sophia, just as he was about to reach out, Leo, fearing Lexio might actually do sothing, quickly intervened, "Lexio, let’s not do anything rash before we deal with Daniel."
Lexio pulled back his hand, clearly annoyed. "Leo, are you scared of that jerk?" he taunted.
"Is there anything Lexio can’t handle in Libertopia? If we weren’t in such a delicate situation, I wouldn’t give a damn about Daniel, or the goddamn politicians behind him."
Leo gave a bitter smile, "Of course, I believe you, Lexio."
He knew Lexio was beyond reasoning now.
He quietly left the room and stood by the window in the hallway, lighting up a cigarette.
For so reason, he felt a sense of oppression in his heart, as if sothing terrible was about to happen.
Thinking of Lexio’s words, Leo gave a self-deprecating chuckle.
Maybe he really was too scared to do this anymore.
After finishing his cigarette, Leo was about to head downstairs when he saw a black pickup truck racing towards the bar from a distance.
Like a shadow in the night, the truck swerved into the bar’s parking lot.
It was Daniel’s truck, Leo recognized it at a glance.
He quickly rushed back to the private room, shouting, "Daniel is here!" Hearing this, Sophia, who had been sobbing, sprang up, using all her strength to break free from her bonds and ran towards the door, shouting, "Daniel! Save !" She had previously not wanted Daniel to co to her rescue, fearing he would fall into danger, but now, Daniel was her only hope for salvation.
Unfortunately, she didn’t get far before Lexio grabbed her by the hair and yanked her back.
"You thought you could run, bitch?" he sneered.
"Nobody can save you now. Soon, I’ll have my way with you right in front of that bastard, and let him see how slutty his woman can be!"
No sooner had he finished speaking, than the deafening sound of gunshots erupted from downstairs.
Daniel jumped out of the car, holding his Desert Eagle, and rushed into the bar.
Inside the bar, the lights flickered, and the crowd swayed.
The bouncer at the door, as if having received prior instructions, was keeping an eye on everyone entering.
Upon seeing Daniel, he glanced between his phone and Daniel, before confidently stepping forward.
The bouncer reached out to grab Daniel’s neck, "So you’re the fucker nad Daniel, huh?"
Daniel flung off the thug’s hand and grabbed his neck with a grip of iron, his voice ice-cold, "Where’s my girlfriend?"
The thug, taken aback by Daniel’s audacity, threatened in panic, "Do you freaking know whose turf this is? Get your filthy hands off or I’ll call the boys!"
Daniel pressed the barrel of his gun against the thug’s head, "No need for you to call. I’ll do it for you."
With that, he pulled the trigger decisively. Bang!
