Chapter 78: Chapter 13: The Conflict between Magic and dical Skill

Yao Rong felt as if struck by lightning, her body stiffening in an instant, and a look of profound sadness swept across her beautiful face.

It turned out that Yao Rong and Doctor Fan had been a married couple in their early years, both deeply engrossed in the study and research of ancient dical skills, and had once raised a lively and adorable daughter.

At that ti, Mr. and Mrs. Fan were both studying dicine under Great National Doctor, both with remarkable talents, and Fan Zhi was even more skilled than Yao Rong.

They both held important positions at the dicine Emperor Pavilion, but due to an accident, their daughter was seriously injured, her condition even more severe than the boy before them now.

All the doctors in the dicine Emperor Pavilion, including the Great National Doctor, were helpless. At that ti, Fan Zhi heard that the Magic Temple might have a way to save his daughter. When he was preparing to send his daughter to the Magic Temple for treatnt, everyone in the dicine Emperor Pavilion, including the Great National Doctor, opposed it.

They believed that sending soone to the Magic Temple was tantamount to admitting that magic healing was superior to ancient dical skills.

Despite Fan Zhi’s pleas, the dicine Emperor Pavilion steadfastly refused to send his daughter to the Magic Temple, and they even imprisoned Fan Zhi. By the ti Fan Zhi was released, his daughter had already died in Yao Rong’s arms.

Because of that event, Fan Zhi completely lost heart in the dicine Emperor Pavilion. He announced his departure from the pavilion to study magic and practice dicine by combining ancient dical skills with magic.

However, he was too old when he started learning magic, far behind in understanding magic, and because he had once been a doctor, it led to his awkward circumstance in Yujing.

Upon learning the details of the story, Yun Sheng had only one thought.

Ignorance, truly ridiculous.

At that mont, Yun Sheng felt the doctors of the dicine Emperor Pavilion were too dogmatic.

This struggle between ancient dical skills and magic healing was like the early conflicts between traditional Chinese dicine and Western dicine.

In the inclusive family environnt of the Yan Family, Yun Sheng had always believed that there was no true division between Chinese and Western dicine. Instead, taking the strengths of each to compensate where the other fell short, rging the two, was the true art of saving lives.

"Yao Rong, do you also want to let this child’s parents experience the pain we went through back then?" Fan Zhi questioned as he took the boy away.

The doctors of the dicine Emperor Pavilion, who were about to make things difficult, were stopped by Yao Rong, who paled and said, "Fan Zhi, do you realize what consequences will follow if you take this child away and fail to save him?"

In Great Zhou City, if a doctor’s improper conduct leads to the death of a patient, they are to be punished; punishnt ranges from lowering the doctor’s rank to outright revocation of the doctor’s qualifications, even criminal penalties.

Before this incident, Fan Zhi had indeed saved so patients using a combination of magic and ancient dical skills.

However, there were still two major mistakes, resulting in one patient being crippled and another ntally incapacitated, for which Fan Zhi was demoted twice, from Imperial Physician to Bell Doctor.

This ti, with the young boy’s injuries so severe, if Fan Zhi made another mistake and caused the boy’s death, what awaited him was more than just a demotion; it could an the direct revocation of his dical qualifications and imprisonnt.

Yao Rong’s reminder did not deter Fan Zhi, who was now only focused on saving the critically injured boy.

The boy seed not to be a Yujing person, and when Fan Zhi left with the boy, no one stopped him.

Upon seeing Fan Zhi leave, Yun Sheng imdiately followed him.

Yao Rong wanted to stop her, but it was already too late.

Cheng Sisi Hai saw Fan Zhi and Yun Sheng leaving one after another, and revealed a sinister smile. He quietly called his nephew Cheng Qing, "Go to the governnt imdiately and report secretly, claiming that a doctor has caused a death. The location is at the ’Little Huichun’ dical Hall in the west of the city."

Fan Zhi, carrying the boy, ran back to the dical hall. It was only a little over fifteen minutes, and the seriously injured boy had already turned purple, like an eggplant. His nostrils flapped, making it difficult for him to breathe.

"Doctor Fan," from behind, Yun Sheng, with her short legs, followed closely behind Fan Zhi.

"It’s you, Yun Sheng. Why have you returned? Well, you follow

back to the dical hall, pack your luggage, and take your father away. The thod for your father’s Cloud Dream Ice Sleep can be taught to you. You can find a Water Mage in the city to perform it for you," today Fan Zhi, after witnessing Yun Sheng’s performance during the dicine Man evaluation, was sure that Yun Sheng would beco a talented individual.

Such a child, staying with him at Little Huichun dical Hall, was indeed a waste.

Since Yao Rong had just offered to take her as an apprentice, she would certainly be able to make a na for herself in the Ancient dical World.

"No, Doctor Fan, I’m not here to pack my luggage, nor am I leaving Little Huichun dical Hall. I want to be like you, to rge Magic and Ancient dical Skill, to beco a Magic Doctor," Yun Sheng raised her little face, her expression filled with a calmness and wisdom that did not match her age.

"You child, what are you talking about? The path I have chosen is not for everyone, and you have seen my current situation. If I can’t cure this boy, I might be thrown into prison tomorrow. I can’t even protect myself, let alone drag you into this. You better leave quickly," Fan Zhi was deeply moved, yet he beca even more unwilling to keep Yun Sheng.

Initially, when Fan Zhi took in Yun Sheng, he rely wanted to profit from the child’s rent. However, after spending so ti with her, he discovered that Yun Sheng was a rare good child.

Every ti he saw her, Fan Zhi would recall his daughter who had died young.

He must not drag this child down; she has her own path to follow.

Seeing that Yun Sheng was still following him to the dical hall, Fan Zhi decisively shut the door of the dical hall, locking Yun Sheng outside.

Just as he was holding the boy and about to enter the courtyard to carry out the treatnt, he heard Yun Sheng’s inquiry from outside: "Doctor Fan, are you going to perform a trepanation on that boy? That treatnt, simply with you alone, cannot be completed."

Fan Zhi, who had already decided that he couldn’t let Yun Sheng participate in this treatnt at any cost, stiffened upon hearing these words.

How could she know his plans.

"Doctor Fan, let

in. Only I can help you carry out this treatnt. We can’t delay any longer. If the hematoma in the boy’s brain isn’t promptly cleared, even if you save his life later, he might beco paraplegic or suffer from lifelong ntal disability," Yun Sheng, still undaunted, spoke again from outside the door.

The door creaked open.

Fan Zhi, as if seeing a ghost, stared at Yun Sheng. After a long while, he managed to stamr out, "How could you know about the complications of failed trepanation?"

"Anyway, I just know it. Hurry up, any more delay and it could really cost a life," Yun Sheng pushed Fan Zhi inside the house, not minding his confusion, and imdiately began the critical life-saving treatnt.
