Chapter 119: Chapter 54 Pest Damage
Gu Feng always felt he was born under an unlucky star.
His family was poor, originating from a remote little mountain village, with parents who were illiterate farrs, and he had five siblings at ho.
When he was four years old, during his enlightennt at the Magic Temple, it was unexpectedly discovered that he could perceive the Light Magic Elents.
At that mont, the entire small village was in an uproar.
From a modern perspective, it was like a college student erging from a backwater hamlet.
Gu Feng, with the money his parents scraped together from neighbors, went to the town’s Magic Temple to study to beco a Magician.
But Gu Feng had a bit of a natural stutter, which got worse when he perford Magic Chanting, eventually leading to significant chanting difficulty.
This greatly diminished the effectiveness of his Magic Chanting, and the Magic Temple subsequently gave up on his training.
Still, at the Magic Temple, a Great Magic Director noticed his natural talent in the field of Magic Potions and recomnded him to the Royal Magic Academy.
In this academy filled with officials’ children, his existence was even more of a joke.
Enduring mockery every two or three days and beatings every so often, if it weren’t for Master i Li and Qi’s support, Gu Feng might not have been able to hold on any longer.
However, just when Gu Feng was on the brink of giving up ntally, Yun Sheng appeared.
In a matter of days, Gu Feng felt his life had turned upside down.
Just a few days before, he was a tiny Magician without even a Magic Wand, but in just two days, he not only acquired a Light Attribute Magic Wand but also a Fifth Rank Light Attribute soul stone.
According to magic theory, Gu Feng was absolutely incapable of rging with a Fifth Rank soul stone.
Yet, this Lightning Eel soul stone didn’t pose that problem.
Having been stored in the Wall Shield Turtle’s stomach for who knows how many years (even the appraisers from Wanlong Gambling House could not be sure, estimating it to have been stored for over a hundred years), the violent Magic Elents on the soul stone had mostly been fused by the Wall Shield Turtle, and the rejection was much reduced.
Therefore, the likelihood of Gu Feng rging with this Light soul stone greatly increased.
To ensure that Gu Feng could rge with the soul stone in peace, Yun Sheng also gave him a Magic Card so that he could better integrate it within the Magic Tower.
Gu Feng also beca a lot more forthright and no longer as polite as before.
He now saw Yun Sheng as family and imdiately entered the Magic Tower to begin the soul stone fusion process.
Because Gu Feng knew that now he, Yun Sheng, and Qi were a whole; they were all comrades of Magic Potion Group Thirteen.
Comrades are not to be thanked lightly.
As for informing Master i Li, they simply needed to send Qi as a ssenger.
Once Qi Yi returned to the Magic Academy, he reverted to his icy deanor, unwilling to say more than necessary.
However, it was clear that his attitude towards Yun Sheng and Gu Feng had improved a fair bit, at least when Yun Sheng asked him to notify Master i Li, he would buzz like a mosquito bite and confirm, which in itself was progress.
The mid-term assessnt was approaching day by day, and Yun Sheng had planned to enter the Magic Tower to comprehend the second Magic Scroll given by Master i Li. However, she was busy reviewing her magic courses and also had to take care of the Public Herb Field, spread too thin to manage everything.
She planned to enter the Magic Tower to comprehend the second Interdiate Magic after completing the first harvest of herbs from the Public Herb Field.
This second Interdiate Magic was nad Earth Escape, a type of Instant Teleportation magic. However, due to Yun Sheng’s Magic Power, each ti she could only teleport a distance of five or six ters, which was still quite effective for dodging so single-target Magic Attacks.
Days swiftly passed, and just as Yun Sheng had used the Rainfall Technique to water the dicine Field, she suddenly noticed that so of the herbs in the Public Herb Field were showing signs of withering.
This problem had never occurred since Yun Sheng started caring for the dicine Field.
After a careful examination, Yun Sheng did not find any pest problems.
Weeding and watering posed no issues.
Yun Sheng involuntarily furrowed her brows.
Shennong’s Eyes flickered slightly as she intently gazed at a dicinal herb.
The vibrant green exterior of the herb gradually turned into a network of veins; Yun Sheng noticed that, although the herb looked intact on the outside, it was internally squirming with subtle black-colored Magic Elents resembling ants.
Upon closer inspection, it was clear that these were not simple black Magic Elents, but rather a type of Demon Worm.
Shennong’s Eyes returned to black.
Yun Sheng fell into deep thought.
Soone was sabotaging her; this thought struck her almost imdiately.
Soone had tampered with her dicine Field.
And the person who did it must have had quite the origin, to know to use Dark Attribute Demon Worms to set her up.
On the Wuji Continent, Dark Attribute Demon Beasts are scarce, and accordingly, they are precious, certainly not commonly found within the herb fields of the Royal Magic Academy.
Such Demon Worms, if it were an ordinary Magic Academy, would be absolutely undetectable to the naked eye.
Even for so experienced Magicians who have not studied Dark Magic, it would take so ti to notice that the herbs had been tampered with.
But Yun Sheng was different; she possessed a Five Elents Magic Soul, one of which was a Dark Magic Soul. Her sensitivity to Dark Power was far superior to that of ordinary people. Coupled with Shennong’s Eyes, she naturally discovered these Dark Demon Worms.
They were a type of Dark Attribute Demon Worm, adept at concealing themselves and their magical aura.
They only gathered at the vital parts of the dicinal herbs, from the buds to the roots, breeding at an alarming rate.
The Demon Worms that Yun Sheng had found were currently afflicting only one or two acres of the dicine Field. But had she discovered this any later, the entire field would likely have been destroyed.
In a few more months, right before the final assessnt, Yun Sheng would have to deliver the first batch of public dicinal herbs to the Academy.
The saboteur surely did not want Yun Sheng to manage the delivery smoothly, hence the underhand tactics.
What Yun Sheng needed to do was to catch the person behind the scenes. But before that, there was an even more difficult problem she had to solve—how to eliminate the pests.
In the case of the usual pests, Yun Sheng would simply use Yanling’s Hand to capture them.
But this ti, the pest infestation was taking place inside the dicinal herbs.
If she were to uproot them completely, it would undoubtedly affect the growth of the herbs and the future harvest.
Yet not uprooting them would allow the pest infestation to spread like wildfire.
The person who acted was extrely malicious.
This pest would not cause the herbs to die outright but would consu the herbs’ nutritional value, turning what was originally first-class dicinal herbs into second-class or even third-class worthless wasted dicinal herbs.
Who exactly had she offended?
Yun Sheng quickly recalled, that day in the dicine Field, Chen Lianlian and Song Xiangru from the Magic Fighting Association.
Previously, when she refused an invitation from the two to join the Combat Association, they did not retaliate at the ti.
Now upon reflection, only those two domineering wealthy officials’ daughters would be willing to use precious Dark Attribute Demon Worms to fra her.
After pondering for a mont, Yun Sheng decided to first go to the Book Pavilion of the Academy and search for relevant materials, to see if there was a way or small magic to remove the Dark Demon Worms without harming the dicinal herbs.
