"I've been waiting long enough. Why hasn't she signed your divorce papers yet? Are you sure she'll agree with you?" Lin irong asked after the long silence between them. She clasped her hand with his and leaned her head on his chest. She wanted to test Mu Jianyu's reaction to the possibility that Li Xiuying knew about their relationship but it seed that it was hard to ruin his impression of Li Xiuying.
Instead of answering her questions, Mu Jianyu relaxed his tense body and leaned back on the headboard to support his and Lin irong's weight.
Lin irong stared intently at his handso face which had a hint of grim on it. Why did she feel like he wasn't ready to part ways with Li Xiuying yet? Hadn't he said that he was only staying to maximize the wealth he could suck from the Li family?
It had been weeks since she first brought up the issue of the divorce and he had only recently done what she'd asked. She wasn't sure if Mu Jianyu was just stringing her along and didn't really want to divorce Li Xiuying.
"I'll deal with her. You don't have to worry and just focus on our child." He answered.
"But…" She wanted to argue but seeing that he wasn't going to answer her questions, Lin irong had no other choice but to drop it.
He was right. He'd already chosen her and initiated his divorce from Li Xiuying.
"I've chosen you over her. Isn't this proof enough?" He replied, his tone a little sharp, reminding her that she was the one who insisted on rushing the divorce. There's nothing Mu Jianyu could do now but to wait for his wife's agreent.
"I'm divorcing her whether she wants it or not." Mu Jianyu said with finality on the issue, "and then you'll officially be the next Madam Mu. My darling, no one will dare to bully you once this is over." He whispered to her ear.
She realized then that he'd already made up his mind this ti. She had a hard ti suppressing the excitent and happiness she felt inside.
Lin irong thought that she heard him wrong but perhaps he'd made up his mind and would truly beco hers although she couldn't marry him imdiately. She gave his hand a squeeze and smiled brightly. Not being able to marry him now doesn't an she couldn't in the future. She just needed to find a way to annul her previous marriage without Mu Jianyu knowing about it.
For her to rise from being a poor countryside bumpkin into a socialite woman by marrying Mu Jianyu, how can she waste that opportunity? She's a woman who wouldn't waste an opportunity presented to herself.
Why exert her effort in the show business industry when she could flaunt her status and wealth as Mu Jianyu's wife? Even if she couldn't beco a film empress, she still had Mu Jianyu to support her and using this child in her womb, she would be able to wrap him around her finger easily.
'Li Xiuying, bla your infertile womb for not being able to give your husband a child. Hahaha. You've lost your chance.'
Ah, she really needed to do sothing to force that poor husband of hers to divorce her but first, she needs to find him and their child before anything else. Were they still living at the sa place she'd left them? Lin irong wasn't sure.
Three months after she gave birth to her child, she t Director Yao and caught his attention with her beauty. He invited her for a trial photoshoot to see if she would look good on cara. He said that she had a pretty face and it's rare to et soone who was good looking in person and not only in cara and magazines.
Lin irong held her breath as she was offered to leave her previous life and seek her dream at the capital. For her, the only obstacle to reach her dreams was her husband and her unwanted child. She can never accept that she can be contained in this pitiful, boring village that offered her nothing but a hard life.
However, she didn't expect that once again, her family was the root of her problems. She cannot allow anyone to use them against her in the future. Director Yao was enough to disturb her peace and she didn't need more like him.
Lin irong chastised herself for being stupid earlier. His marriage offer sounds so tempting as if it was a sweet delicacy offered to a hungry child. How could she decline and let this chance slip from her hand? Now, if only that boring wife could give him his freedom, the sooner, the better.
"But wouldn't the Li family give you a hard ti? What if they object to your divorce?"
Mu Jianyu rubbed her back affectionately.
She gave him a sweet smile which he returned with an amused chuckle.
"Of course they would, but I've already prepared ahead. Do you think I'm stupid enough to give Li Xiuying the divorce papers if I'm not prepared for the Li family's retaliation? They might have forced to sign the prenuptial agreent but they cannot stop from getting the money they owed all these years."
From his standpoint, the money he'd embezzled from the company was his prize for being a puppet of the Li family for years. His reputation in the business community was also stable so his career wouldn't easily plumt down once he leaves the Li Corporation. Lin irong and their child were worth the trouble even if he had to fight with the Li family.. He had sothing he needed to protect now more than ever.
