When Mu Jianyu received a call that Lin irong was rushed to the hospital, he left the company without any word to his assistant and drove to where his woman was admitted. The caller, who was Lin irong's current assistant, didn't give him any information of what had caused Lin irong to end up at the hospital.
He hadn't seen her for days and was feeling quite guilty that he couldn't see her when she needed him the most. He was oblivious to the fact that his own wife was there to witness the evidence of his affair.
It was past ten in the evening when he reached the hospital which gave him leeway to sneak inside without drawing any attention upon his arrival. With his divorce still pending, Mu Jianyu was still a married man who secretly kept his lover in the dark. He made sure to avoid the crowded hallways of the hospital and went straight to the floor where Lin irong was.
As he slipped inside the hospital room which Lin irong's assistant had provided him, he found a nurse checking on Lin irong's condition as she slept. The woman lifted her head and smiled when she saw him.
"Ah, you must be Miss Lin's boyfriend." She addressed him.
Mu Jianyu froze for a mont but didn't deny the nurse's assumption of his relationship to Lin irong. This wasn't the right ti to admit his relationship with her in public.
"Is she alright?" He tried to avoid the question by questioning her back.
"Miss Lin is alright. We were able to save her baby from a possible miscarriage."
The nurse excused herself to give him and the patient so privacy but before that, she greeted Mu Jianyu. "Congratulations!"
"Congratulations?" Mu Jianyu frowned as he strode towards the bed to see Lin irong. "What for?" He couldn't understand why the nurse was congratulating him when Lin irong was hurt.
"Oh, I thought you were already inford…" she paused, "Miss Lin is pregnant. She's going to have a baby."
Mu Jianyu felt like soone dropped a bomb on him. His eyes then landed on Lin irong's flat stomach in surprise. For a mont, he didn't know how to react.
Baby? She's going to have a baby?
Seeing that Mu Jianyu wasn't going to respond to her, the nurse silently left the room and closed the door behind her.
He sat on the chair next to the bed as the news of Lin irong's pregnancy sank into his mind.
A wave of emotions washed through him. There was a subtle hint of joy that flashed in his eyes but a part of him also felt conflicted over the news. With Lin irong being pregnant, his divorce with Li Xiuying must be finalized soon.
It wasn't Li Xiuying's fault that they lost their first baby years ago because of miscarriage but Mu Jianyu was at the age where he wanted to have a child soon. Sothing that Li Xiuying couldn't give him.
It had been years since they lost their baby and Li Xiuying hadn't gotten pregnant since then. It also didn't help that the Li family was suppressing his influence within the business community.
With his marriage with Li Xiuying coming to its end and with Lin irong's pregnancy, Mu Jianyu couldn't wait to get his freedom from the Li family.
However, this news… how would he be able to face Li Xiuying later once she found out about Lin irong and his baby?
He didn't think Li Xiuying would take it lightly given that the ti of conception was when he was married to her but he cannot allow Lin irong to give birth to their baby out of wedlock. Whatever people around them think of it, he refused to not give his child the identity it deserved.
His relationship with Lin irong might have started as a mistake, but he'd learned to care for her later on. During those tis Mu Jianyu was receiving never-ending pressure from the board of directors at Li Corporation, Lin irong had beco a confidante, the only person who believed in his capabilities.
For Mu Jianyu, there were only two won who mattered and left an impact on his life. First was his own mother, who'd raised him alone when his father abandoned them, and the other was Li Xiuying, his wife.
Li Xiuying was the perfect woman any man could ever wish for, except that she couldn't bear a child for him. Aside from that, because of her almost 'perfect' standing in society, Mu Jianyu was having a hard ti eting everyone's expectations of him.
In everyone's eyes, he was Mu Jianyu, the Li princess's husband. His worth and the respect he'd been receiving for the past years was all because he was Li Xiuying's husband. People overlooked his performance and capabilities because of it.
So even questioned what he had to make Li Xiuying fall for him when there's Shen Zichen who can beat him in all aspects by a hundredfold.
He was being overshadowed by Li Xiuying that he'd lost his own identity and confidence but with Lin irong, he didn't need to prove anything. In her eyes, he was so kind of hero that she admired.
There was no pretentiousness when he was with her. Maybe this was the reason why he preferred Lin irong's company over his wife.. Li Xiuying was too good, her bright light left a dark shadow on him.
