When Shen Zichen left him, Mu Jianyu had been pacing around the empty hallway, thinking of how the other man's action will affect his relationship with Ying. Everything that he'd planned was going south. He never expected that Shen Zichen would dare to make a move on Ying now.
Before this, he was confident that even if Shen Zichen confessed to his wife, Ying would shut him down. Now, he couldn't say the sa, because Ying had forgotten not only him but the affections she had for him.
Having lost all the mories she had for the last seven years, Shen Zichen had the upper hand this ti. Ying rembered him and it would be hard for Mu Jianyu to gain her affections more than ever.
"Being lovey-dovey with your wife in front of , I dare say you are quite cruel to , Mr. Mu,"
Lin irong's voice brought him back to reality, reminding him of his other problem besides Shen Zichen. His face darkened and before he knew it, he was dragging Lin irong away from the ballroom to a place where people wouldn't be able to overhear their conversation.
"What are you doing?! Let go!" Lin irong struggled to free her arm from his vice-like grip but failed.
"Then how dare you say such nonsense to my wife? Telling them we're getting married. Are you out of your mind? Who do you think you are?!" He hissed back in irritation.
Lin irong was furious. So all those promises about him marrying her were just lies?
"Who am I?!" She gasped incredulously, not believing what he was telling her right now. She was enraged by his words. "Am I not the woman you proposed to marry a few weeks ago? The woman who's currently bearing your child when your own wife couldn't even do it for you? Was I lying when I told them you are planning to marry ?"
"You and your big mouth are putting in a dangerous situation!" Mu Jianyu countered back. He wondered if this woman was an idiot or was just pretending to be one. "My wife has amnesia and I'm trying to save not only myself but you from the Li family. How could you not think of that?!"
"In my defense, I don't know what you are planning. You refused to et and ignored my calls! How am I supposed to understand when you aren't even talking to at all?!" He'd been avoiding her like a plague for weeks and refused to answer any of her calls and ssages. Was he expecting her to stay silent and pretend she wasn't hurt by his actions?
"What about and our baby? Was it really easy for you to kick us to the curb now that you want your wife back?"
Mu Jianyu wasn't expecting her to question him like that. His jaws hardened and looked away, refusing to look at the woman who had caused him to sin against his wife. These were the very sa eyes that looked so pitiful every ti she begged for his attention. He couldn't rember how many tis he'd fallen for the sa trick.
"It's not that I don't want the baby anymore. I told you I won't abandon the child," he reasoned out.
"But you are willing to abandon ?" Lin irong couldn't stop her rage for Mu Jianyu's treatnt towards her. How dare he turn his back to her?! "If I don't know you any better, I bet you've been wishing for Li Xiuying to die so all her assets would fall into your hands. Isn't that what you are planning to do?"
There were so many ill feelings that crossed on Mu Jianyu's mind when he heard her say that. Part of him wanted to strangle her to death for such an accusation but he also knew he couldn't harm her as he would also be harming his child.
"You bitch! You don't know anything! You are nothing! I'm not going to divorce my wife to marry soone like you! Compared to Ying, you are nothing!" He roared to her face. How dare she accuse him of harming his own wife? He might have sinned by having an affair with this brainless woman but he wouldn't ever wish to harm her.
"I am nothing?! Ha!" Lin irong raised her voice, not caring anymore if soone overhears their conversation. "Let remind you that I am the woman you've been sleeping with behind your wife's back. I wonder… I really wonder how your wife would react when she finds out what you did." She snarled back at him.
It was at the very sa mont, Li Chuntao decided to make an appearance with Shen Zichen beside her.
"Jianyu, is there sothing I need to know?" She eyed Mu Jianyu then shifted her gaze at Lin irong. Both were caught off guard when they heard Li Chuntao's voice questioning Mu Jianyu.
Mu Jianyu's face lost its colors the mont he saw Ying appear out of nowhere with his rival. How much of their conversation did she hear? And why the fuck was Shen Zichen stuck on her side like a leech?
Did she overhear what Lin irong said? This damn woman was really the death of him!
"Ying… It's nothing. I was just asking Miss Lin's opinion over the plan I was thinking of for our date." He said nervously.
He was aware of Shen Zichen's eyes narrowing dangerously at his lie but he didn't care. He could only hope that Ying wouldn't suspect that he was the father of Lin irong's unborn child.
Li Chuntao didn't say anything but shifted her gaze between the cheating couple with a frown. Mu Jianyu was starting to wonder if she would believe him.
Ying can not know about him and Lin irong. Not now. However, every second passed without her saying anything made him feel like his life was being pulled out of him. It also didn't help the knowing smirk that he'd seen on Shen Zichen's face, as if mocking him.
"Is that so?" Li Chuntao said after a long awkward silence. Heh, of course, she and Shen Zichen had heard everything. They were just waiting for the right ti to reveal themselves to torture Mu Jianyu.
"Yes…" he nodded and looked away. Ashad that Ying had caught him with another woman. He decided to be careful dealing with Lin irong from now on.
And ah, why wasn't she surprised that he was lying to her once again? Did he not know how to be truthful for once? Was he really used to spouting lies that it was becoming a habit he couldn't stop whenever she asked him a question?
"Yes, Mr. Mu is right. He was just asking for an opinion since he has no idea how to plan properly." Lin irong was forced to go along with his lies.
"Ying, are you looking for ? Do you need anything?" Mu Jianyu attempted to divert the issue away from his conversation with Lin irong. He still couldn't read if Ying was suspecting him or not.
Li Chuntao humd and nodded her head.
"We're about to leave and retire for the night. I'm just thinking of informing you just in case you started looking for again," she answered.
"Then would you like to take you ho?" Mu Jianyu glanced at Shen Zichen who didn't bother to utter a single word since they arrived.
Li Chuntao shook her head. She had enough toying with him and Lin irong for now.. She already got the result she wanted anyway.
