Ben Lawson finished speaking, but Silas Sutton didn’t respond, his back turned to him.

Seeing no reply, Ben smiled and asked differently, "Did you have this kind of intention when you initially supported her?"

Upon hearing Ben’s question, Silas, who had his back to him the entire ti, finally made a move. He removed the cigarette from his lips and flicked the ash, responding in a deep voice, "No."

Ben laughed, "Then when did it start?"

Silas turned around, walked a few steps to the desk, and extinguished the cigarette in the ashtray, "It didn’t start."

Ben didn’t understand what he ant and raised a suspicious eyebrow, "Hmm?"

Silas sat down in the boss’s chair and casually picked up a file to leaf through, "That night was an accident; she was drugged."

Ben teased, "What about the second night then?"

Silas lifted his eyelids to look at him, his Adam’s apple moving slightly, "Are you asking for trouble?"

Ben t Silas’ gaze, his smile a bit lacking in seriousness, "Mr. Sutton, I won’t ask redundant questions, just satisfy one curiosity. Why did you support Stella Grant back then?"

Five years ago, Silas Sutton himself was in a precarious situation trying to save himself.

Yet he was determined to support Stella Grant at all costs.

Though the amount of money was trivial to The Sutton Family, the issue was that The Sutton Family was in turmoil at that ti.

The first and second family units, four children kidnapped, so died, so went mad, others sick.

Silas Sutton, the only one unhard, seed possessed to insist on supporting an unrelated stranger.

For this, Mr. Sutton often scolded him.

Called him the bane of The Sutton Family, causing chaos.

Recalling old events, Ben remains sowhat emotional to this day.

After Ben spoke, Silas didn’t answer imdiately. About half a minute later, Silas looked up and said, "Do you still rember where we were kidnapped back then?"

Ben answered, "Brynnfield, why?"

After speaking, Ben suddenly thought of sothing and slapped his thigh, "That’s when you t Stella Grant."

Silas leaned back, "Not really eting, just a fleeting encounter."

Ben, piqued by Silas’ attitude, showed interest, "Go on."

Silas reached out and picked up the lighter from the desk, playing with it in his hand, "On the way back after being rescued, I happened to encounter The Grant Corporation’s bankruptcy, with a group of creditors cornering Stella Grant at the doorstep, pushing her to despair."

Ben was stunned.

Silas said, "At that ti, my brother had died. Honestly, I had thoughts of dying too, but the mont I saw Stella Grant, I suddenly felt sothing stirring in my blood, my whole being seed to co alive..."

Ben was speechless.

Ben had heard of The Grant Corporation’s bankruptcy back then.

Rumor had it the CEO of The Grant Corporation absconded with money, leaving behind an empty shell company and a widow with children.

Stella Grant was still in university then, raised as a pampered young lady, unimaginable how she faced such creditors alone.

Recalling the past Stella Grant, a light flickered in Silas’ cold eyes.

After hearing Silas’ words, Ben at a loss for what to say.

Silas chuckled softly, lifting his eyelid to look at Ben, "I rember it clearly. There was a man in his forties yelling about jumping off a building. Stella, wearing a white dress, looked at him with determined eyes and said, ’Dying won’t help you. If you trust , wait a few years, and I will repay every penny my father owes you...’

Ben said, "That sounds childish, like an empty promise."

Silas said, "But she ant what she said."

Stella kept her word by working tirelessly to repay the debt over the years.

Silas saw Stella as a resilient flower clinging to a cliff.

He considered himself as hopelessly lost cause, expecting that she would fall into decay, yet she pulled him out of the ravine’s mire against all odds.

As Silas finished speaking, a mont of silence arose in the office.

After a while, Ben lightly coughed, "So what are you planning now?"

With a flick, Silas’ long fingers traced the lighter’s gear, and with a ’snap’, fla ignited, "I don’t plan to make anything of it with her."

Ben seed skeptical, "Really?"

Silas raised his eyes, mocking, "Do you think, given my status, I would beco the other woman?"

The soul-searching question from Ben, "Aren’t you already?"

Knowing she had a boyfriend yet still went on to have her.

Once wasn’t enough, it happened twice.

Silas coldly snickered, lowering his head to grab a cigarette, biting its butt flat, "I’m just playing."
