Stella Grant landed in Brynnfield from Portre in the afternoon.

The weather in Brynnfield was rainy today, much cooler than in Portre, but the air was still muggy.

Stella didn’t go ho; instead, she headed directly to the hospital with her suitcase.

When Lynn Adler saw her, she was first surprised, then delighted, and finally shed two tears.

Stella put down her suitcase and hugged her, "Don’t cry, Dr. Harrison said you can’t be emotionally agitated now."

Lynn stubbornly replied, "Who said I’m agitated?"

Stella smiled, "Alright, you’re not agitated, I’m the one who’s agitated."

After hugging Lynn for a while, Stella went to the bathroom to wash her hands, then picked up a chair and sat by the bedside to peel an apple for her.

Lynn watched her with a smile and whispered to her, "The caregiver you hired is particularly responsible, much more so than the one in the next room who’s paid three hundred."

Stella smiled, "How do you know that the one next door who’s paid three hundred isn’t responsible?"

Lynn said, "I often hear them arguing."

Stella laughed and asked, "Does the caregiver argue with the patient?"

Lynn pouted, "They argue quite a bit, especially when the kids aren’t around; they’re quarreling every few days..."

After saying that, Lynn suddenly realized she misspoke and hurriedly tried to fix it by saying, "But the caregiver you hired is different from them, she never argues with ."

Lynn didn’t want Stella to overthink, so she tried to nd the situation.

But once said, words cannot be taken back; she knew well enough that even if she tried to nd things, Stella would still overthink.

Lynn blad herself internally for having a loose tongue as she reached out to hold Stella’s hand, "Mom really didn’t lie to you."

Stella looked up with her beautiful eyes at Lynn and smiled, "I know."

Although Stella said she knew, when she left the room, she quietly gave the caregiver ’Ms. Dunn’ a five hundred dollar red envelope.

Ms. Dunn had just bought so oranges, and she refused to accept it, "Miss Grant, I can’t take this money. I’ve already received my wages from you. If I take any additional, I’ll ruin my reputation at the hospital."

Stella said, "Since I’m not around often, I’ll need to trouble you to take extra care of my mom."

Ms. Dunn firmly returned the five hundred dollars, "That’s only right; you hired to do this job."

After saying this, Ms. Dunn sighed, "Ah, my child is about your age; I understand it’s not easy for you to earn money."

Ms. Dunn spoke sincerely and even patted the back of Stella’s hand before leaving.

Seeing that Ms. Dunn was sincere, Stella couldn’t help but smile, "Ms. Dunn, thank you."

Ms. Dunn replied, "Why thank ? This is what I should be doing."

At night, Stella had dinner with Lynn in the hospital room, ordering a few dishes, including Ms. Dunn.

Ms. Dunn was particularly attentive, knowing exactly what Lynn could eat and couldn’t, considerate without any pretense.

After dinner, Ms. Dunn cleaned up the al boxes to toss them away, and Lynn held Stella’s hand, smilingly saying, "Seeing is believing; now you believe , right? I wasn’t lying; Ms. Dunn is really nice."

Stella replied, "Yes, I believe you."

Though Stella said this, she still had concerns, thinking about bringing Lynn to Veridia once her surgery was done with her project commission.

Upon hearing Stella’s answer, Lynn’s eyes were brimming with a smile, "You’ve had a long day. Go ho to rest tonight and leave your suitcase there."

Stella was about to argue when Lynn pressed her hand and said the second sentence, "Tomorrow morning, can you help cook a few dishes at ho? I’m tired of takeout every day."

Saying she’s tired of takeout was an excuse; in truth, she wanted Stella to go ho to rest well.

Stella understood her intentions and knew that even if they refused back and forth, the outco would be the sa, so she directly complied, "Alright, I’ll co back to accompany you tomorrow and give Ms. Dunn a day off."

Lynn nodded, "Yes, co keep company tomorrow and let Ms. Dunn take a day off."

Leaving the hospital, Stella caught a taxi ho.

Sitting in the taxi, Stella routinely took out her phone to check her emails and WeChat ssages.

There were a few project progress reports in the email, but on WeChat, there was silence; no one had ssaged her.

Arriving at the community, Stella used a QR code to pay and got off the taxi. Just as she retrieved her suitcase from the trunk, her phone rang in her hand.

Stella glanced down at the caller ID, hesitated for a mont, then pressed to answer, "President Sutton."

Silas Sutton’s voice was low and slightly weary on the phone, "Are you ho?"

Stella answered in a calm voice, "Yes, I’m ho."

Silas Sutton mumbled an ’mm’, "Take good care of your mom and rest early."

After saying this, Silas Sutton said ’Good night’ and was about to hang up. But before the call ended, Stella softly called out—"Silas Sutton."

Silas Sutton’s finger almost landed on the screen to hang up but paused, "Hmm?"

Stella took a deep breath and said, "We need to talk."
