Ethan gritted his teeth, forcing himself to ignore the sharp sting of pain radiating from his arm. This wasn't a battle he could afford to get caught in. The hulking demon was faster than before, stronger, and worst of all—it was relentless.

His summons were still materializing, but he knew they wouldn't last long against this thing. Not in a direct fight. What was he going to do now? Was he going to run again?

The demon snarled, its red eyes gleaming with sadistic satisfaction as it rushed at him again, claws raised to cleave him in half. Three insectoids blocked its path but their attacks could only barely hold the demon back.

They were all F- grade nobodies while the demon was solidly in the next rank. It showed. Everything about the damn thing was superior and to top it, it was also using so berserk magic skill.

What was he supposed to do in this situation? His gaze flitted towards the side where Lia was hauling Lyra and trying to get out of the mine. The idiot! He had asked her to run and here she was trying to save that damned woman. Everything was going wrong.

Ethan continued summoning more and more of his minions in a frenzy. When one of his insectoids fell, two more took its place and withstood the brunt of the attacks for him. But it was simply not enough. Another one died the next second. He needed to make the decision now.

Ethan felt rage well up within him as he saw the demon pounding all of his minions one by one to the ground. They were simply not a match for him. Was he going to throw away more of his minions and run again?

Yes, they were regenerated every ti they died but the problem here was would he be safe this ti even after he ran? After sacrificing so many of his minions, how would he be able to face the next danger that unexpectedly popped up on his doorstep?

Would he run away one more ti? Was he just going to keep running again and again? Didn't that an he would only get weaker and weaker, all of his progress undone?

Ethan did not know if his thought process at the mont was rational or not. He did not even fully think through things. His mind was chaotic and his gut feeling told him that running right now was not the correct answer.

Either way, he did not have much ti to think. He needed to make a decision and stick with it. He needed to hit the demon now when it was completely overwheld. This would be his best shot at ending things right here and right now.

Ethan gritted his teeth and went in for the kill. He tried to stab the demon in the back. He was no longer the sa person. He had gained a few levels and that ant all of his stats got bumped up. Maybe. Just maybe this ti he could break the damn bastard.

The hulking demon roared, ripping through another one of his insectoid minions, but it was distracted. This was the mont.

Ethan gripped his dagger tightly, pivoted his stance, and drove the blade forward—straight into the demon's exposed back.

The impact was imdiate.

The dagger pierced flesh. A sickening, wet noise echoed through the cavern as the blade sank in deep, past layers of demonic muscle and sinew.

The demon's body stiffened.

It worked.

For one glorious second, Ethan thought he had won.

Then—

A guttural snarl of pure rage erupted from the beast.

Shit.

The berserk magic surrounding the demon pulsed violently, red veins bulging across its massive fra. It didn't fall. It didn't even flinch. Instead, it whipped around, one massive claw arcing toward Ethan.

Too fast.

Too strong.

Ethan barely had ti to twist away, but the blow still clipped his side, sending him skidding across the cavern floor. His body slamd into a jagged rock, pain blooming through his ribs like fire.

He gasped, sucking in the air, his vision blurring from the force of the impact. Not enough. He hadn't done enough.

The demon ripped the dagger out of its back, tossing it aside like a re splinter. It turned toward him—completely enraged now.

Ethan forced himself up, his fingers digging into the dirt. He couldn't stop now. The demon charged, its massive claws crackling with dark energy, ready to tear him apart.

Another couple of insectoids ca between them, temporarily blocking its path but it was not going to last. He needed to fight. He needed to do sothing. He needed to attack again.

Ethan grabbed a rock near him and once again charged at the demon. The rock only scratched its skin but he did not care. He smashed the demon again and again with the sa rock.

His slis, his spiders, at this point every single one of his available minions were trying sothing or the other but the damn thing was unstoppable. The slis couldn't hold it. The spiders' venom didn't do shit. Nothing. The demon was unstoppable.

Ethan was livid. Every ti the demon flung him away like dirt, he kept coming back. Lia was crying on the side. She kept healing and buffing the minions again and again even though her entire body was pale and trembling.

What the hell was he supposed to do now? He couldn't give up now. He picked up another rock on the ground and ca at the demon with all the energy he could muster. One way or the other this bastard was going down today.

He believed he could do it. He had to. There was simply no other choice.

And the next second, like magic it actually happened. The demon was suddenly swaying like a flower in the wind as if it had no strength left whatsoever.
