Chapter 172: Devastation
.
From high above the skies of the secret realm the creature looked down, and his presence, already spread throughout every part of the kingdom, had grown only heavier and more malevolent, so much that every single creature began to tremble.
The corrupted beasts of the forest continued to roar upward as if to welco the arrival of their lord,
the humans, instead, trembled below as they felt an imnse, crushing power upon them, as if an entire mountain had been placed on their shoulders.
It didn’t matter whether they were third stage, fourth stage or even fifth stage cultivators, everyone was in the sa condition, the weaker ones already on the verge of fainting and the stronger ones, who had more experience and a higher cultivation level, able to better understand the imnsity of the strange power that had enveloped the whole area.
Those more experienced understood imdiately that the presence which had appeared was already far beyond the mortal realm and probably already within the spirit realm; yet those who had t beings from the spirit realm realized that the level of power they could sense was by far greater than anything they had ever felt from them.
This only served as another alarm bell, but the creature did not seem to care. It seed to enjoy the fear it had instilled in everyone, its expression growing ever more sinister by the second.
At that mont, the clouds in the sky seed to wake and began to roar, peals of thunder were heard in the open air.
As if it had perceived sothing interesting, the creature turned its head toward the mountain, its penetrating eyes seeming to pierce through the stone.
Soon another roar was heard, this ti not from the sky but from the earth, as the entire ground trembled.
Before anyone could understand what it was, one side of the mountain exploded, sending debris everywhere.
Amid the cloud of dust generated, sothing shiny streaked out like a projectile, charging in a precise direction.
It was the luminous crimson liquid, and when the creature fixed its gaze on it, its body seed to tremble slightly as sothing primitive within it began to awaken.
Its body began to emit a dark, inky aura as it opened its wide, toothed mouth completely.
Particles of red black light started to gather within it and soon a sphere as black as pitch ford and kept expanding more and more.
The crimson liquid drop, however, did not seem worried; on the contrary, it rushed toward the side of the mountain exactly where the creature had erged, at the entrance to the tunnel.
The creature above did not waste ti and, with a sharp jerk of its head, released the force of energy it had accumulated, which exploded outward in a wave of power directed straight at the liquid sphere that had now reached its destination.
The energy wave was swift and precise and reached its target in the blink of an eye.
BOOOOM!
A colossal explosion tore the air, striking at once the part of the mountain where the crimson liquid sphere had descended. The impact generated a vortex of power that poured outward, shaking the mountain to its foundations.
The ground split into a network of incandescent cracks as gigantic boulders were hurled into the air like pebbles. The shockwave raced for kiloters, bending trees like blades of grass and lifting clouds of dust that darkened the sky.
A deep, muffled roar continued to reverberate through the valleys.
When the light finally dimd and the dust began to dissipate, in place of the mountain there remained only an imnse, smoking crater, a void still emitting unstable glows of residual energy.
From above, amid the clouds, the creature seed satisfied with the devastation, Its body writhed in a macabre tremor and guttural, terrifying howls issued from its throat, spreading in every direction and making the very air quake.
It was clearly ecstatic at the destruction it had wrought beneath itself.
But those monstrous cries stopped abruptly. Its eyes, filled with an unnatural light, narrowed like sharpened blades as it concentrated its attention downward.
Suddenly its focus was captured by sothing.
From the enormous crater, who knew how deep, several sparks began to appear.
First one... then three... then five...
and at every mont more appeared, multiplying without pause. Within monts the lights beca dozens until their number exceeded fifty.
From afar they looked like tiny glistening pearls suspended in the void, but as they drew nearer they revealed their true form: huge yellow luminous spheres, each pulsating with its own energy, like prisons of crystal. Within them, floating motionless, could be seen human figures... inert bodies, people who had fainted.
They were all the people from various groups who had still been on the mountain when it was utterly flattened by the creature’s devastating attack.
Seeing them all appear unscathed from nowhere seed to pique the creature’s curiosity, but its attention did not linger on them; instead, its gaze shifted as if seeking the source of the power that had saved them.
But at that very mont, as if perceiving the creature’s intent, a voice resonated from nowhere.
"Faithful to your nature, I see.
the first thing you do when freed is start spreading destruction and death," the voice was calm and clear, and its tone betrayed that of a woman.
The creature, hearing it, imdiately looked up, and there, amid the clouds that had grown ever darker, clearly crackling with energy ready to unleash its fury, hovered a female figure in the air.
The creature located her, examined her appearance, and a glint of recognition appeared in its eyes as they beca sharper, more dangerous.
A sense of ferocity emanated from it mixed with sothing that seed like rage. The mist its body exhaled, as if mirroring the beast’s mood, grew more violent and fierce.
The woman, however, did not seem worried; instead, a smile appeared on her breathtaking face while her eyes seed to hold a pair of stars, intensifying as she spoke:
"Oh, it seems you are still angry about that ti. Heh, as much as I’d love to end you with my own hands, that honor, unfortunately, is not mine today," she said as her gaze shifted downward.
And as if triggered by it, a strange fluctuation of energy suddenly burst from the dark crater beneath, shooting up like a geyser at full force and bathing the entire area in an instant.
