"What's going on here?"
Wu Jinliang, climbing out from under a heap of debris with a knife, let out a strange cry as he looked toward where the figures had vanished. He scanned the surroundings and discovered a large barren area, the space portal from which the monster had erged had also disappeared.
Shi Chun flickered in and out of sight, found the severely injured Bian Weiyin, and pulled her to run beside Wu Jinliang, scolding, "Stop talking and clear out while you can. Do you want to wait for the monsters to recover and drag us back to that murky place?"
The re thought of that place where you could only be blind made Wu Jinliang shudder. He hurriedly grabbed the Wind Scale that he clutched tightly in his hand and began to study it.
It was his first ti using it and he wasn't sure how to operate it, so he definitely needed to study it.
Shi Chun glanced around and, unable to wait, straightforwardly took the Wind Scale from him. He cast a spell to control it, and instantly, countless scales burst forth, spiraling the trio rapidly upward through the air. They sped up, turning into a fleeting arc that vanished.
Gazing down at the vast foggy forests beneath their feet, the three were seeing Moon Sea from the air for the first ti.
They didn't go far. As soon as they left Moon Sea, they imdiately found a mountainside to land on, and the myriad scales collectively clinked back together.
The three exchanged looks, finally letting out a sigh of relief as if awakening from a dream, having escaped that dreadful place.
However, their gaze quickly shifted back to the distant sky, and Wu Jinliang again expressed his suspicion, "What's with those masked people in black? How co there are people with such high cultivation acting here; isn't that against the rules? Also, why did they attack that monster leader— it feels like they specifically ca for him?"
Bian Weiyin slowly said, "Since they wore masks, it shows they don't want to be recognized. Regardless of what happened, anyone who can pull off such feats here is not soone we can afford to provoke. Also, about that dark space, if you don't want to be forced into entering there a second ti, don't ever ntion it to anyone, not even your own parents."
Their tone and context made Shi Chun and Wu Jinliang exchange glances, then look back at Bian Weiyin. Indeed, they noted that this woman's deanor had changed again; this ti she genuinely seed like the real Bian Weiyin— the one known for walking in the rain without an umbrella, albeit a bit disheveled.
At this mont, the two n really noticed that Bian Weiyin's clothes were indeed excessively loose and ill-fitting, a point they seed to have overlooked before.
Seeing them look at her that way, Bian Weiyin seed to realize sothing; a faint awkwardness crossed her face as she said to Shi Chun, "You should focus on healing."
Even her caring words lacked any tender female nuance, creating a sense of distance.
Wu Jinliang held his knife with one hand and rubbed the Wind Scale on his chin with the other, scrutinizing Bian Weiyin with clear intent.
Shi Chun seed to dismiss it, and imdiately closed his eyes to concentrate on casting spells.
Monts later, a whooshing sound ca from behind him, hitting the soil behind him and sending a faint mist of blood drifting in the air.
He also slowly opened his eyes, walked over to the dirt, nudged out two scales with the tip of his foot, and shook his head lantingly, "Such a pity, a valuable treasure, just wasted like this."
Just as Wu Jinliang was about to express his angst over the huge loss, a hand reached out; Bian Weiyin rummaged a small jar of ointnt from her pocket and passed it over, indicating towards Shi Chun, "Apply the dicine to him."
"Huh?" Wu Jinliang glared, appearing indignant, and retorted grumpily, "Why, why don't you do it? You were up to all kinds of dark deeds inside, and now you're playing innocent here, thinking I'm deaf?"
Yet, after a stern look from Shi Chun, he seized the ointnt, stuck his knife into the ground, grabbed the ointnt and walked over to Shi Chun grumbling, "Take off your clothes, take off your pants."
Shi Chun promptly disrobed.
For Shi Chun, who possessed strong recovery abilities, dressing wounds wasn't customary. However, the injuries this ti were indeed nurous, and accelerating healing wasn't a bad idea.
Seeing this, Bian Weiyin quickly turned away and walked off, adhering to the principle of avoiding impropriety.
Wu Jinliang chuckled upon seeing this, teasing as he applied ointnt to the wounds on Shi Chun's back, "Sister Shi, should I call you my sister-in-law or continue with Sister Shi in the future?"
Bian Weiyin pondered briefly and replied, "Let's talk about the future in the future; for now, you can keep calling Sister Shi."
Wu Jinliang teased, "That's not what you said inside."
Bian Weiyin calmly responded, "Ask him now if he dares to marry , will the powers behind you agree?"
Ever since she discerned that Shi Chun's visit to Wukang Mountain wasn't just for Xiang Laner, she had affird there was another force behind them. Otherwise, how could these two natives recently released from the Land of Exile dare to plot against Wukang Mountain without any backing?
She had previously thought about leveraging Shi Chun's connections to compete for the position of Sect Master of Wukang Mountain.
Now, calming down, she realized these two concealed much more than she had anticipated. While she believed that their cultivation had broken through to High Martial after arriving at the West Pole, the ease with which they killed Zhao Shanqi and other people, not to ntion each possessing a Wind Scale, suggested that their backgrounds were anything but ordinary.
She was not a naively romantic girl and knew the terror of certain affairs; it wasn't sothing her true feelings alone could withstand.
Now that they had gotten out, reality was reality and had to be faced.
"What powers?" Wu Jinliang wondered.
"Just apply your ointnt properly," Shi Chun interjected, closing his eyes in thought.
After the ointnt was fully applied and his clothes were back on, he seed to have made so decision. He walked behind Bian Weiyin and called out, "Sister Shi."
Bian Weiyin turned around, eting his gaze as her eyes instinctively dodged.
Shi Chun, "Let's not talk about the unclear matters now. The Sky Rain teor Conference still has another month to finish. Sister, what are your plans?"
Bian Weiyin's face slightly darken, "I was wrong before, and should not have gone against the Sect's decision, leading to a point of no return. Now that I've entered the Moon Sea and can no longer connect with Bai Shuchuan, I can't bla the Wu Kang Mountain Sect. Let's find a place to hide and reappear after the conference is over."
Shi Chun, "Okay, I'll follow your plan, Sister. Let's do that."
Wu Jinliang blinked repeatedly, feeling that sothing was off in their conversation.
Shi Chun turned to him and said, "Let's find a suitable place to hide. Wind Scale, aren't you going to practice a bit?"
Wu Jinliang grinned and imdiately took out the Wind Scale, beginning to comprehend its spell.
Bian Weiyin looked puzzled; Wu Jinliang had the Wind Scale, but never used it before?
Soon, countless rotating scales surrounded the three of them, lifting them shakily into the sky.
After finding the feeling of control, Wu Jinliang excitedly asked, "Where to?"
Bian Weiyin suggested, "Let's go find Xiang Laner first."
Saying this, she took out the mother-and-child talismans to contact Xiang Laner.
A hand reached out and took the talismans—it was Shi Chun, "Let's not bother her now; I'll contact her later."
Under Bian Weiyin's stunned gaze, he kept the talisman and then took out a map, pointing to the entrance of Xun Gate in the West Pole, directing Wu Jinliang towards that area.
"Alright," filled with the novelty, Wu Jinliang imdiately discerned the direction and sped off with the Wind Scale.
With such speed, anywhere within the West Pole territory was quickly reachable.
They did not head straight for Xun Gate. Far from it, they found a ravine in an area, carefully inspected it for dangers, then dug out a cave for shelter.
After the work was done, Shi Chun had no intention of staying. Seeing an opportunity, he said, "Sister, you probably still have so immobilization charms on you. Rest here, and if anything arises, contact us. If we haven't returned by the end of the conference, you should leave on your own."
Bian Weiyin was startled, "Where are you going?"
There was no answer; Shi Chun couldn't provide one. Since they couldn't be on the sa page, naturally, they couldn't take action together. Giving Wu Jinliang a look, he grinned and once again activated the Wind Scale, setting off into the sky.
Bian Weiyin flew up the valley, watching them go, faintly feeling that they were ultimately not on the sa side.
In the air, enthusiastic Wu Jinliang asked, "Chun Tian, which way to go?"
"Just fly around for now," responded Shi Chun, pulling out the mother-and-child talisman and directly sending an inquiry: "Where are you?"
Xiang Laner replied quickly: "I'm around Moon Sea. Did you co from there?"
Shi Chun replied, "Yes, give your precise location. I'll co to you."
Xiang Laner imdiately gave her rough coordinates and a nearby noticeable landmark.
Shi Chun showed this to Wu Jinliang, who discerned the direction and hurriedly sped up, exclaiming, "Chun Tian, this thing is great. We should try to snatch a couple more."
Getting addicted, he was reluctant to return it to Shi Chun.
They flew over various plains and mountain ranges, arriving near Xiang Laner's designated location as evening approached.
The target location was the highest peak in the vicinity. Both landed and looked around without fear of ambush, as there were no signs of other people.
Soon, a figure erged from a depression in the mountain, swathed head to toe; seeing the wary pair, the figure directly pulled off the face cover, revealing a delicate and charming face—it was Xiang Laner.
This period without seeing them had made her feel unsettled, restless like a wandering spirit; today, at last, she t the ones she wanted to see.
She exclaid in surprise, "Why is it you?"
Shi Chun: "Bian Weiyin gave us the mother-and-child talisman for contacting you. Her ntality has too many concerns, not suitable for continuing here. We found her a place to hide and told her to just wait until the end; the rest we will handle. You surely aren't here alone, are you? I rember you ntioned having people from the Demon Path here. Where are they?"
Xiang Laner glanced at the grinning Wu Jinliang, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "Where's Sun Shigang?"
"Sun what?"
"Who?"
Both Shi Chun and Wu Jinliang displayed utter confusion.
Xiang Laner sharply stated, "Sun Shigang disappeared at the sa ti as you guys, don't tell you don't know anything. Shut up..." she stopped Wu Jinliang from speaking further, continuing, "Was the item he had on him taken by you?"
Shi Chun asked curiously, "Are you referring to that Sun Shigang who harassed you before?"
Xiang Laner: "Sun Shigang had an item that could avoid dangers in the Moon Sea, useful for locating the Insect Extre Crystal and securing a good ranking, and only I know how to use it."
