Chapter 1000: Chapter 908: lee and Blind Spots

Ogero received the casualty roster from the staff officer: “Colonel, a total of 287 people died today, 202 were seriously injured, and 493 were lightly wounded…”

With two thousand soldiers suffering over a thousand casualties, it could be considered the most painful day for the French Army since entering Northern Italy.

In the Austrian officers’ tent, Bajahaza handed Alvinczi’s orders to Archduke Karl.

The latter quickly skimd the last few lines and could only shake his head helplessly—due to the tense battle situation in Morvino Town, Alvinczi had reduced the reinforcents to them to 2,000 people.

However, by the next morning, both sides of the conflict received good news.

The French Army’s position suddenly saw the appearance of five six-pound cannons and one twelve-pound cannon.

This was secretly transported last night by Marmon, who led his n to cut trees and make huge rafts from the opposite riverbank—even though three cannons fell into the water during the process, they finally had cannons to use.

anwhile, in front of Bajahaza stood the courier sent by the Wilmze Faction.

“So, General Wilmze can arrive here by tomorrow noon?” Bajahaza excitedly looked at the officer in front of him, “A total of 16,000 soldiers?”

“Yes, Marshal.” The courier looked sowhat weak, having only two als a day in the fortress, totaling two pounds of black bread.

In fact, Wilmze had brought out 19,000 people from the fortress, but several hundred were killed during the breakout, and many had fled along the way.

“Oh, praise General Wilmze.” Bajahaza pointed his cane to the riverbank, “The French are dood!”

The courier mumbled again: “But Marshal, you still need to solve so minor problems. We have over 10,000 Sardinian troops following us.”

Indeed, after Wilmze broke out, Ta Weng feared punishnt from France and led his army to continuously pursue the Austrian Army, showing “I am already trying to make up for my mistakes.”

Carl Ludwig pondered briefly and said to Bajahaza, “Marshal, the Sardinian Army’s combat strength is not very strong; send two or three regints to hold them off.

“We concentrate superior forces here, quickly defeat Ogero, then whether to rush to Trento to reinforce Marshal Alvinczi or first eliminate the Sardinian Army will be our choice.”

The Bajahaza Corps and Wilmze’s soldiers combined amounted to 36,000, even if three to four thousand were allocated, the remaining could overwhelm the French Army at the riverbank.

Bajahaza nodded repeatedly, wrote a letter, and handed it to the courier: “Please tell General Wilmze, once he arrives tomorrow, we will imdiately launch a full assault on the French.”

Napoleon stared intently at the map in front of him, right hand constantly patting his hip.

Hmm, his hemorrhoids were flaring up again, causing excruciating pain.

But what annoyed him more than the hemorrhoids were the two red lines on the map.

They represented Alvinczi’s Zweig Corps and Buch Corps, totaling nearly 20,000, and had already built a defensive line relying on the southern foothills of Paganel Mountain.

Napoleon was absolutely confident in breaking through this defense line, but Alvinczi still had nearly 30,000 troops, and he couldn’t be sure if these forces would suddenly appear on his flank or behind him.

“Soone must constrain the enemy in the east…”

He tapped his finger joints on the table, lost in thought.

In the short term, the Ogero Army couldn’t arrive, and the Austrians would certainly sche to ambush or encircle him.

So, how to avoid confronting the enemy with superior forces?

The candle flickered, casting the shadow of the goose quill on the map.

The shadow rose and fell, sotis covering Trento, sotis revealing it again.

Napoleon irritably picked up the pen, yet suddenly had a thought.

Wait, had he overlooked sothing…

Why was Alvinczi’s army here?

It was here to attack Trento.

But now it was focusing all its attention on his surprise troops.

In other words, it definitely wouldn’t send forces to raid Trento at this mont.

Then the 15,000 soldiers Victor had stationed in Trento would beco a mobile force!

Moreover, he was only six to seven kiloters away from Alvinczi’s main forces.

Thinking of this, a smile appeared on Napoleon’s face, and he said to Lucien, “Gather all the officers, convene a battle eting!”

“Yes, General!”

Next morning, at nine o’clock.

Napoleon’s Army’s cannons began bombarding the Austrian Zweig Corps.

Half an hour later, thousands of French infantry launched a strong attack on Zweig’s defensive line under the cover of skirmishers.

But their assault was quickly pushed back by the dense defenses arranged by Zweig Corps.

The French were evidently not giving up, organizing two more attacks before noon, even using cavalry in the last, but only managed to breach the Austrian Army’s first defensive line.

There were still two further, stronger defensive lines ahead.

Upon receiving the battlefield intelligence delivered by cavalry, Alvinczi, looking relaxed, said to his advisor next to him:

“The French are stuck in a positional fight with us; they are done for.”

He pointed his cane at the map: “Where is Stelrom now?”

The staff officer glanced at the record, “Five kiloters away from the French Army, Marshal.”

“Very good.” Alvinczi nodded, “Let them launch an attack with Colonel Buch.

“The central forces continue moving west.

“The battle at Morvino isn’t ending today.

“If we arrive there before tomorrow afternoon, that would be fine.”

The tight formations he had always demanded played a crucial role at this mont.

When Cosdanovic was defeated, the reinforcents he sent arrived at Morvino Town Southeast within half a day and quickly established defenses.

The main forces of his central army also gradually arrived on the battlefield within a day.

Napoleon would soon find himself facing more and more enemies, eventually surrounded layer by layer.

Alvinczi had even prepared for the possibility of Napoleon escaping, having already dispatched a force of 3,000 westward for interception.

Simultaneously, the cavalry forces had been assembled, ready for pursuit at any ti.

After half a day of fierce attack, the French Army seed to have exhausted its strength, with their offensive clearly beginning to weaken.

At two thirty in the afternoon, over 10,000 soldiers of the Austrian Stelrom Corps suddenly appeared on Napoleon’s right wing, forming a narrow infantry line, alongside the Austrians at the side of Topagenera Mountain, putting Napoleon in a semi-encircled posture.

Zweig nodded to the courier in front of him: “Please inform Colonel Stelrom, they can launch an attack anyti.”

At this mont, he suddenly felt as if there were cannon sounds coming from behind him, and frowned, looking at the staff officer beside him: “What’s going on?”

The latter carefully identified, and sowhat nervously said:

“General, that seems to be the direction of Marshal Alvinczi’s command…”
