Chapter 598: Chapter 313 Are You Calling This Being Bullied? (June Monthly Ticket Additional 6/8)

“Brington, long ti no see.”

Dean, with Brian by his side, greeted the blond-haired, blue-eyed middle-aged man ahead.

The man nodded his head, his face beaming with a bright smile, “Indeed, Dean, it’s been more than a decade. I heard you’ve settled down in Los Angeles after having a daughter and rarely co out.”

Dean nodded, “Yes, I adore my daughter and wanted to be there as she grew up. You know, in order to protect her from enemy retaliation, I even took so ti to eliminate all of my possible enemies, one by one. The result was quite effective, my daughter Susan grew up without disturbances; nobody bothered her.”

Brington:..

Brington’s female secretary:…

Brian:…

Dean sure used to be ruthless.

Just as Dean spotted Brington here, he realized that there were problems at the base.

Brington got the hint instantly upon hearing Dean’s remark.

He responded with a feigned nod, “I understand, loving our children is human nature. Anyway, what brings you suddenly to the Deep Sea Base? We’ve had so issues here, and right now, I’m not even sure what’s going on. I might not be able to host you properly…”

Upon hearing this, a bigger smile appeared on Dean’s face.

He stroked his chin, “As far as I know, most of the authority over the Artificial Intelligence unit Zero at the Deep Sea Base is in the hands of the mbers of the Holy Council. The military forces are usually only responsible for the outermost defense and orders. So… has that group of garbage encountered problems?”

Brington shrugged, “That seems to be the case. They were in the conference room when it was suddenly sealed off by the artificial intelligence, which also activated nurous purification drones. Due to authorization issues, we currently have no idea what exactly went on in the conference room. I also don’t understand what kind of pollution could penetrate the defenses of the Deep Sea Base. Let’s go inside and talk.”

Under his lead, a group of people moved towards the building interior.

At this point, Brian also noticed sothing.

This Brington, he seed very pleased with Dean’s arrival, just as Dean was happy to see Brington.

That reminded Brian of a saying: The world has long suffered at the hands of the Holy Council…

The architecture of the Deep Sea Base had so similarities to that of the NW Base.

The only significant difference was that it was built above ground rather than underground.

The level of automation here was also very high.

Throughout the whole journey, one could barely see any person; it was all automated doors, and occasionally drones with blinking electronic eyes shuttled between buildings, giving off an ambiance of a futuristic base.

The technology revealed here was much more advanced than the outside world.

Under Brington’s guidance.

The group arrived at a reception room high in the building.

From here, one could view the seascape outside.

The scenery was even more fantastical, resembling the lush vegetation and foggy atmosphere of the Skull Island that Brian had read about in a previous life. The humidity was high, and one could continuously see drones flitting through the mist like dense swarms of insects.

Brian’s vision was excellent; with enough elevation, he could see scenes up to several kiloters away.

While he was observing, about ten kiloters away, there was a group of ‘chanical n,’ using so special tal nets, dragging a huge bizarre fish, a hundred ters in size, toward the island…

Real chanical n!

And the flying kind at that!

He wondered what kind of energy those chas usually used.

Many of the devices here would elicit exclamations from the outside world and reignite discussions about the speed of technological advancent, but here, such technology-infused devices were commonplace.

As Brian stood at the window, surveying the external environnt.

Dean waived away the coffee offered by the female secretary and said bluntly, “Brington, I must tell you that I ca here to trouble those council mbers. They used my daughter’s boyfriend for experints and almost killed him!”

“Experints?”

Brington’s gaze sharpened.

He signaled to his secretary with a look, and after she left, he nodded reluctantly, “No problem. Although I don’t know exactly what happened, I trust that you, Dean, are a reasonable man. If you say it happened, then it certainly did. However, I really don’t know what occurred. How about waiting for the people from the Holy Council to arrive at the base before dealing with this matter?”

Brington, a contemporary of Dean’s, knew the troubleso nature of the person sitting before him.

Reasonable…

Yes, Dean was indeed quite reasonable.

That bastard had strong combat skills, a dogged personality, and if you didn’t agree with his ideology, he’d beat you until you did. If your background was better than his, he’d find ways to covertly make you suffer, and you wouldn’t even have evidence against him, eventually leading you to agree. Could anyone be less reasonable?

Not willing to offend the other on the off chance that their interests might align and they could collaborate, Dean was quite satisfied with the tone of Brington’s speech, nodded and said, “Alright, we’ll wait for their people to arrive. I’m sure they’ll hurry over once they know I’m here.”

Dean knew his own worth very well.

And indeed, that’s how it turned out.

The news of the conference room going offline did not provoke strong reactions from the families behind the council’s proxies.

However, when Brington’s female secretary sent out the news that Dean ca over with soone, the families imdiately dispatched a squad to the Deep Sea Base.

The reason was simple.

The Holy Council at the Deep Sea Base was nothing more than the mouthpiece and proxy for the major families. Even if all of them died, the loss would still remain within the families’ control.

Besides, with many families involved, there were more matters requiring coordination.
