41: Chapter 34 You Just Know You’re Going to Die!

(Combined) 41: Chapter 34 You Just Know You’re Going to Die!

(Combined) “Just past nine at night.

The dark, elongated alleyway.

After work, Brian wore a hoodie, his body hidden beneath the sweatshirt, took out a disposable phone, and taped a can tab to his throat as he dialed that number.

A mont passed.

The call connected.

A hoarse voice ca from the other end, ‘Who’s this?’

‘You don’t need to know who I am, but if you can’t make it to the back alley of Husky Bar within half an hour, you’ll never see your son again,’ said the trembling tallic voice, chilling to the ear.

‘Son!’

The person on the other end was initially shocked, then as if they heard sothing ludicrous, they angrily retorted, ‘My son died this afternoon, he’s dead, go to hell with your son, who the hell are you!’

Dead?

Brian was startled.

Such a ruthless person!

He thought about how the other party had reacted when ntioning his son, shook his head, ‘Stop pretending, you know I’m not talking about that burden you’ve long wanted to shed, you can try contacting Shaina, but from your place to where I am, you have only half an hour, one minute over, and you’ll lose everything.’

He hung up.

Brian silently lit a cigarette.

He didn’t like witnessing the ugly side of humanity.

Yet, he seed addicted to the thrill of personally executing such scum.

For what many victims went through,

Even centuries of prison ti would be too lenient,

Not to ntion that often,

Due to incomplete evidence chains,

So criminals who could afford good lawyers are still at large.

Perhaps,

After dealing with Uncle’s threat,

Does Los Angeles also need their own bloodthirsty Batman?

Hmm, a dark, legalized vigilante!

Half an hour later.

An Asian middle-aged man, not too tall, under five feet three, with a square face and slightly overweight, rushed frantically to the alley where Brian was.

He surveyed his surroundings, but couldn’t spot anyone in the alley; he could only bellow furiously, ‘You bastard, co out, you told ..’

The next mont,

From a dead angle in the shadows, a hand swiftly covered the man’s throat and nose.

The man struggled a couple of tis before slumping weakly.

The neon lights of the bar overhead flickered.

Under the faint red glow,

The face of the Asian middle-aged man ca into view—it was indeed the Chinese chef Li Sen who Susan and Brian had previously questioned!

Dragging Li Sen’s body,

Brian disappeared into the shadows following a route he had planned earlier.

More than an hour later,

In a dilapidated wooden house on the outskirts,

Under the bright moonlight, Brian dug the pit with vigorous ‘spitting and puffing.’

Suddenly, whimpering struggles ca from behind.

He set down the shovel, wiped the sweat from his forehead, walked over to crouch in front of Li Sen, and yanked the stinking sock from his throat, ‘Talk?’

‘Is it you?’

Li Sen, recognizing Brian’s face, imdiately knew who he was, ‘You’re that cop who speaks Chinese!

What are you doing?

You’re breaking the law!’

His mory of Brian was vivid.

‘Breaking the law?’ Brian looked perplexed, ‘Knowing it’s illegal, why did you bomb and injure so many people?’

‘I…’

‘All because of a whore who said she was pregnant with your child?’

‘You bastard…’

‘Forgot to tell you, that whore didn’t even know who the child’s father was, she only wanted to use you to get a lot of money and freedom.’

‘Sh*t…’

Whack~

The shovel struck hard against Li Sen’s chubby face, cutting off his words.

After a strike,

Brian wasn’t satisfied, ‘Just for a whore, you dared to swear a lie to the Goddess Mazu?’

Whack~

Another strike with the shovel.

‘Just for a whore, you killed your own son?’

Whack~

Yet another strike.

‘Just for a whore, you bombed an innocent woman and the hardworking Kenneth?’

Brian raised the shovel to continue, but he saw that Li Sen’s mouth was full of blood from his exertion, and he could hardly breathe anymore.

Only then did Brian spitefully stop.

He pulled out a morphine syringe from his waist and injected it straight into Li Sen’s neck.

After a minute or so,

Li Sen ca to.

He looked dazedly at Brian, and after a long while, murmured unclearly, ‘The child really wasn’t mine?’

‘Yeah.’

Brian told the poor sap the truth, ‘At the police station, she said it was Kenneth’s, she later said she didn’t know who the father was after getting high; after all, she saw so many clients a day, so clients not afraid of disease, wouldn’t wear protection, which is quite normal.’

‘Ha ha..’

Li Sen banged his head on the ground, emitting aningless laughter which then turned into sobs, he lanted loudly, ‘What did I do wrong, I just wanted a normal kid, to pass on the blood of the Lis, was that wrong?’

He wept and spat out mouthfuls of bloody saliva:

‘Do you know how painful it’s been for the past twenty-so years, a man having to care for that idiot, and being bullied and earning that pathetic money outside?

I thought of finding an illegal immigrant from Hua Country.

But those whores, they’d rather be with those black or white jerks, being beaten and cursed, than be with an honest chef like , just because I ca with an idiot!’

Brian watched emotionlessly as Li Sen raved.

He swung the shovel in his hand, ‘Tell what really happened.’

Li Sen, though temporarily not in pain due to the morphine, was frightened into trembling but spoke honestly, ‘I was very jealous of Kenneth, he was very popular in the kitchen, ambitious, hardworking, optimistic, and cheerful, I was very jealous of him!’
