(Thanks to the alliance leader, Xi Chenyue’s book friend) Perhaps it was because his physique had improved.
In the afternoon, Brian had regained his ability to move and had also rembered the events of yesterday.
This explosion had beco an assessnt topic for Group Six.
It involved joining NW.
Brian didn’t dare delay.
He ignored the doctor’s advice and proceeded to discharge himself.
Seeing his determination, the hospital could only call his ergency contact to co pick him up.
To Brian’s surprise,
the person who ca was Team Leader Susan.
“Do you mind if I smoke?” Susan pulled out a slender cigarette and put it in her mouth, “Sorry, I haven’t slept all day.
I need a cigarette to stay awake.
Actually, I haven’t touched these for a long ti, but this sudden case has really stressed out.”
Brian didn’t care about Susan smoking at all.
He directly asked about the case, “What’s the situation now?”
Susan lit her slim lady’s cigarette, took a deep inhale, then said sowhat despondently:
“This explosion resulted in two fatalities and thirteen injuries.
One of the deceased
was a custor waiting to pick up her al.
She was unlucky.
Cutlery propelled by the blast wave pierced her eye, killing her instantly.
The other deceased was the owner of the food truck.
He was burned all over his body.
Despite the doctors’ best efforts to save him, he passed away this noon.”
Brian frowned, “What was the cause of the explosion?”
He had recovered his mory and rembered the man who had bumped into him, carrying the scent of triacetone triperoxide.
This was definitely a preditated bombing!
Unfortunately, the explosion was too sudden.
He hadn’t been able to identify the scent on the man in ti.
Otherwise, this case would be much simpler.
Susan shook her head:
“It’s still under investigation.
The entire food truck was burned down to its fra.
Later, the firefighters and ambulances arrived, and they almost completely destroyed any evidence at the scene.
However, Ivan found so physical evidence at the site yesterday.
He believes this was a preditated act of explosive murder.
As for the details,
we are still waiting for the lab results from the Forensics Bureau.
As for whether they have found anything today,
I am not sure either.
I was by the food truck owner’s side all day.
Unfortunately, he didn’t make it.”
Brian nodded.
Ivan truly was an experienced detective; he certainly had a knack for these sorts of things.
Since there wasn’t an official office yet,
currently, Group Six was temporarily using this newly cleaned-up floor for their office.
Regarding the bodies from the explosion, they were sent to the police station’s temporary morgue.
Originally, Susan had planned to request outside help.
Now that Brian had been discharged,
the task of conducting autopsies naturally fell to him.
The police station’s temporary morgue was located underground, an area also used for storing evidence and other materials.
When Brian and Susan arrived,
Ivan, Glenn, and old Hardenn were circling around the remains of a twisted, C-shaped skeleton of the food truck.
From the re skeleton of the food truck, one could tell the fire was very intense.
“Guys, found anything?”
Although Brian had never dealt with cases before, he had spent over two years in the Forensic Bureau and was knowledgeable enough not to be intimidated.
There was no way around it,
whether it was the Forensic Bureau or the Detective Bureau.
You could be inexperienced, but you couldn’t be cowardly.
You had to make your voice heard, or even if you weren’t inexperienced, you would be looked down upon.
The strong man, Ivan, nodded his head and pointed to the bent side of the vehicle fra: “From the damage to the vehicle, the initial explosion originated from this position at the back of the car, where the portable gas tanks were located.”
Upon hearing this, Susan’s attractive eyebrows furrowed: “Ivan, are you saying that this was an accident?”
Ivan hadn’t expected Team Leader Susan to be so inexperienced.
He had no choice but to point to the vehicle fra, which was completely tilted to the left, and explain:
“Team leader, if it was a gas tank explosion, then the food truck’s fra should have expanded outward.
The fra should bend from inside to outside, not collapse completely towards the service window.
This ans that at the mont of the explosion, the blast wave was directed towards the service window.”
Susan seed thoughtful, then turned to Brian beside her, “Did you understand that?”
Brian looked at Susan, who was trying desperately to appear calm, and nodded: “What Ivan ans is that soone used explosives at the back of the food truck, causing the gas tanks inside to explode, and that led to the extensive damage.”
Ivan nodded: “Yes, we have found sothing else.”
He looked towards his old partner, Glenn.
Glenn, wearing gloves, picked up a slightly charred plastic shard and explained:
“This is a piece of a bottle that Ivan and I collected from the scene.
Normally, this plastic would have ignited.
But there was a lot remaining on site.
This indicates that its original form first bore the brunt of the explosion.
Most of the shards were blown out of the reach of the flas and were preserved.”
Susan: …
She really didn’t understand.
Couldn’t they simplify the explanation?
This ti, Susan didn’t bother speaking and instead turned directly to Brian, the capable interpreter beside her.
Brian shrugged his shoulders and said to Glenn, “Buddy, are you saying that soone filled a plastic bottle with explosives, and then detonated it?”
Glenn nodded:
“Yes.
Although the substances found on these plastic shards haven’t been analyzed yet.
The forensic departnt hasn’t returned the results.
But Ivan and I are certain this was a man-made explosion.
The process was likely that the perpetrator detonated the homade explosives first, which then ignited the gas tanks inside the vehicle, leading to the massive explosion.”
A professional reveals their skills imdiately.
Ivan and Glenn indeed had their expertise.
Old Hardenn, unwilling to be outdone, spoke up:
“After Ivan and the others confird this was a homicide, I had all the collected plastic shards numbered and photographed in 3D, and sent them to the technical departnt.
Thanks to the 3D imaging technology.
I estimate that by tomorrow at the latest, we will have the appearance of the bottle that held the explosives.”
The oldest man also inadvertently demonstrated his worth.
…
“Alright, if there are no other findings, I’ll go check on the body now.”
Brian knew it was his ti to step in.
It was everyone’s first ti working together.
Without so substance,
speaking up later won’t carry weight.
“Actually, there’s another thing that I’ve found quite strange, and I brought it back yesterday,” Ivan said, rummaging through a pile of miscellaneous items behind him and finding a palm-sized to-go box lid with burn marks.
The inside of the lid bore an indistinct row of letters.
Below the letters, there were three numbers: 229.
Susan, who had not engaged in the conversation so far, yawned and looked at the to-go box lid, puzzled: “Isn’t this just a regular takeout box lid?”
“It’s different,” Brian said, perking up as soon as he saw the numbers.
“Team Leader Susan, you probably rarely order takeout.
With this kind of fast food delivery, to prevent delivery mix-ups, they write the address on the surface of the lid, but no one writes the address on the back.”
Solving cases, he was clueless.
But when it ca to this stuff,
Sorry,
this was his area of expertise!
As soon as Brian saw the numbers on that lid, he knew what it was!
Dammit,
everyone step aside.
It’s ti for to show off!
