It was the early hours of the morning when Lua left with Catharina.

He did not announce his departure, and he had several reasons for doing things this way.

The main reason was because of Catharina, but that was not all.

The truth was that he did not feel comfortable saying goodbye, so he left a letter behind, describing the reason for his departure, sent directly to the mansion of the village leader.

He also left a lot of wool behind, donating it to the village.

With Catharina at his side, now wearing a veil that hid her face, he turned his gaze to the sky when she noticed his look "What is it?" she asked.

Looking at the sky, he replied: "It’s nothing. I simply feel a slight attachnt to this village."

"I understand..." She murmured.

Turning to look at her again, he smiled: "But this is the path I chose. I will never regret the choice I made."

A rare smile traced her lips. Catharina said softly with her cold voice: "I see. Even though I feel a little afraid, I am happy to be able to continue by your side."

Luan scratched his face a little awkwardly.

It was rare for him to feel so shy, but her words were sohow embarrassing and touching at the sa ti.

...

Since it was night outside, they used the light of a torch to illuminate the path.

The concept of lanterns and other things had not reached this village, although there seed to be sothing similar in more developed places.

Luan and Catharina walked cautiously.

Although the chances were low of encountering a Lv1 wild animal or even sothing above that, it was better to be cautious.

The worst scenario would be ending up encountering a monster that once belonged to a dungeon before it exploded.

As a world with a millennium of history dealing with dungeons, it was inevitable that so would end up becoming overloaded by not being explored and eventually exploding, releasing all the monsters trapped in the dungeons.

*Pracc!*

Luan beca alert when he heard the sound of ’pracc’ as if sothing dry had snapped.

"Sorry." Catharina murmured, lowering her head.

"Was it you? That’s a relief..." he said. "Don’t worry, it’s still very dark."

"Hmm." She let out a nasal hum in confirmation.

After that, they continued moving forward.

Catharina took extra care.

Seeing her like this, Luan let out a discreet sigh.

Even after so many years, she still carried scars from what happened to her, and because of that, she was very afraid of upsetting him.

’I hope that by going through new experiences, it will give her a new perspective on life, and that she understands her own value.’ Luan thought to himself.

The reality was that without her, he would not dare to leave the village so soon.

Although he had a certain degree of confidence now, it would be difficult even to form a group to explore a dungeon, and going alone is practically suicide.

On the other hand, Catharina’s strength was there.

He knew that she alone could finish a Lv1 dungeon, even though the boss in most cases is a Lv2.

She was not just a demi-human, she had also awakened a talent that would cause envy.

Of course, it could also cause fear, even persecution. After all, the term ’vampire’ was not well regarded.

It was practically on the sa level as a monster.

Or rather, for most people, it was considered a monster.

And, because she was a demi-human... It was even worse.

...

Perhaps because of what happened just now, Catharina’s fox ears stood out, almost like rabbit ears when hearing a sound, becoming alert.

She even looked like a mother protecting her cubs.

Seeing her like this, Luan felt like laughing, but held himself back.

At the sa ti that he found this funny, he also found her quite cute.

Perhaps because she heard his laughter, Catharina looked in his direction and tilted her head, letting a ’Huh?’ escape between her lips, looking curious.

"It’s nothing." He stopped laughing.

"Ohh..." She looked around again, almost making Luan laugh again.

Ti passed, soon the first rays of light appeared, illuminating the day.

"We have already distanced ourselves quite a bit." Luan said: "Let’s take a break to eat."

"All right." Catharina agreed, going to the more open place that Luan found with enough space to place their things on the grassy ground and light a campfire.

While Luan began to gather dry branches, soon he lit a campfire, Catharina took a large towel and spread it on the grassy ground, taking so things out of one of the backpacks.

From one of his backpacks, he took out a foldable object, it was a trivet with an iron grill. After unfolding it, Luan placed it around the campfire. Then, he placed a kettle with water, hanging from a chain, leaving the kettle suspended in the air.

It was a little cold, but the two were very well dressed, and the campfire ward the environnt around them.

A whistle echoed.

"Leave it to ." Catharina stepped forward.

"Okay." Luan did not disagree.

In a few minutes, the tea was ready.

While they drank tea, Luan placed pieces of at on the grill.

It was strange to do sothing like this.

It did not seem like in a certain way they were in the middle of an escape, but rather, it even seed like they were camping in a forest...

Sitting on the spread towel, drinking tea...

"This isn’t bad at all." Luan said with a sigh as he took a sip of the tea.

Catharina looked at him, although without changing her expression much, she clearly seed gentler as she agreed: "Yes, I like it."

Luan’s only concern was the sll of roasting at attracting so wild animal, or even worse, a monster, although the chances were minimal, since there were no reports of monsters in this forest.

Catharina added quietly as she turned the at on the grill: "It would be good if no wild beast were attracted..."

*Pracc!*

"Huh?" In unison, the two turned in the direction of the sound.

"Shit!"
