Peaceful. Quiet.
The colors of childhood had long since faded, but today, because of the sunlight filtering through the leaves and the presence of her brother beside her, that once gray world turned colorful again. Xu Moli lived happily, forgetting all worries, forgetting all troubles, completely imrsed in a world where only she and Xu Xi existed.
Everyone has a utopia defined in their heart. Xu Xi looked up at the sky, gently stroking his sister’s soft long hair, feeling that perhaps this place was Xu Moli’s utopia. It had nothing to do with the Supre Realm of cultivation, but was simply the precious dream of an ordinary Xu Moli, sothing she had yearned for countless years.
"Let’s accompany Moli a little longer," Xu Xi thought to himself as he squinted his eyes against the dazzling sunlight, already making plans for the future in his heart.
...
At night, Xu Xi cooked a table full of delicious dishes with skillful hands. The ingredients weren’t anything special, just common vegetables, but under his magical culinary skills, the glossy dishes shimred with a faint golden light.
"Mm…" Xu Moli sat at the table, looking at the glowing food, falling into deep thought. "Although it’s not the first ti I’ve seen this, it’s still so amazing. Brother, just how good is your cooking? You can make sothing like this with only ordinary ingredients."
She frowned slightly, puzzled as she ate bite after bite of the food Xu Xi had made.
"Brother, can you teach how to cook?"
"Of course. But why so suddenly?" Xu Xi was a little surprised. It was the first ti his sister had ever asked to learn cooking, and he was curious about her sudden interest.
Xu Moli’s answer was very simple. She said that from childhood until now, it had always been Xu Xi who cooked, and she felt guilty about it.
"Brother, I’ve grown up. Cooking should be my responsibility from now on," she said with a playful laugh, confidently declaring that she would make the most delicious dishes in the world.
Seeing her so full of confidence, Xu Xi couldn't help but be stunned for a mont but eventually agreed to her request.
There was no better ti than the present.
After dinner, Xu Moli tried her hand at the kitchen, deciding to give it a shot. She actually had so basic skills, just not as refined as the witch or the chanical servant, let alone possessing Xu Xi’s miraculous glowing abilities.
"If Brother can do it, there’s no reason I can’t," she muttered to herself, carefully pondering, experinting, and trying her best to cook a dish that could glow.
About half an hour later, Xu Xi saw the following scene: black smoke filled the pot, the color of the food was twisted and strange, bubbling black bubbles like so unnaable monster from another world. Flas leaped high, staining the walls black, and an awful sll filled the air, making its way up his nose.
Xu Xi couldn’t help but laugh. He didn’t criticize Moli’s cooking, nor did he scold her harshly. Instead, he spoke gently and comfortingly, "It’s okay, Moli. I believe that one day, your cooking will catch up to mine."
Afterward, Xu Xi and Xu Moli cleaned up the stove together.
In a place where Xu Xi couldn't see, Xu Moli quietly erased one tactic from her ntal list of [One Hundred and Eight Ways to Capture a Man’s Heart]: "Capture a man’s stomach, and you’ll capture his heart."
The tactic wasn’t wrong, but unfortunately, the girl couldn’t see any hope of succeeding with it.
...
The following days continued to be plain and ordinary. In their spare ti, Xu Xi and Xu Moli would sit at ho chatting, sharing their stories since the first simulation ended, or leave the house to stroll through the city market. Sotis they would head into the mountains, using their extraordinary experience to gather wild goods they could sell for money.
Ti passed silently, leaving no trace.
Gradually, the nearby villagers ca to know about the brother and sister. So farrs would send them fruits as a gesture of goodwill, while a few arrogant and lawless types, seeing there were only two of them, had so unsavory thoughts.
However, these thoughts usually didn’t even get a chance to turn into actions.
The perpetrators would mysteriously disappear.
"Brother Xi, your luck is really good. That Wang Erhu was a notorious villain around here, but thankfully the gods took him away before he could harm you," an old man exclaid emotionally, calling it the heavens’ justice.
Xu Xi chatted with the old man nearby, deeply agreeing, "Yes, it’s all thanks to the gods’ protection."
As for who the 'god' was, Xu Xi, who held the positions of both true immortal and deity, thought it was truly too difficult to guess.
...
In the blink of an eye, a month had passed since they ca to this mortal world.
The blazing sumr arrived in full force, entering the hottest period.
The scorching sunlight seed to ignite even the air.
It was sweltering, suffocating, and people wore only the thinnest clothing in search of a slight coolness.
Cicadas chirped, and waves of green shimred under the heat.
Even wearing cloth shoes or straw sandals, the baked roads were unbearably hot.
Xu Xi reduced his outings, staying ho most of the ti, sitting with his sister and eating waterlon, quietly watching the sumr heat ripple through the treetops, waiting for the vibrant red and green to et under the sun.
"Brother, this lon is so sweet."
Holding a cold slice of waterlon in her hands, Xu Moli took a big bite, the crunchy texture filling her mouth with a refreshing sweetness.
She ate happily, so quickly that her mouth was soon covered in water and red lon pulp.
Xu Xi wiped the corners of her mouth with a handkerchief, then picked up a slice himself and ate together with her.
"Mm, it really is sweet," he said.
The blue sky, the burning air, the dry world filled only with the sound of leaves rubbing against each other, and the occasional insect fluttering by—everything seed like a replay of the old days.
Back in Blackstone City,
the brother and sister had once sat like this, each holding a slice of waterlon.
At that ti, Xu Moli had been only four or five years old, her legs not even reaching the doorstep height.
But now, she had fulfilled her wish from back then.
She had grown taller, and now stayed by Xu Xi’s side with a mature posture, helping him, and paving the way for him.
"Brother, I’m sleepy~~"
Having eaten her fill, Xu Moli drowsily leaned against Xu Xi’s chest, showing a familiar look of wanting to sleep.
Her behavior reminded Xu Xi of the chanical servant, making him suspect that the loyal servant might have unknowingly spoiled his sister.
"Then have a nap," Xu Xi said, not exposing her little act.
He wiped his hands clean with a cloth, then gently wiped Moli’s face, cleaning off the leftover waterlon juice.
The sumr was peaceful, lazy.
With the soft buzzing of cicadas, the girl who had only been pretending to sleep finally beca genuinely sleepy.
She lay quietly in Xu Xi’s arms, her breathing soft and steady.
Xu Xi adjusted his sitting position so that she could sleep more comfortably, his fingers gently brushing aside the strands of hair on her forehead, soothing her restless heart.
Outside, the sumr heat turned the world into a blazing furnace.
But Xu Xi, sitting in the cool shade of the house with Xu Moli, successfully escaped the burning world, creating a small, peaceful space for just the two of them.
"She hasn’t changed at all…"
"Moli still relies on so much."
