560: Chapter 560: Your Arrival (Big Chapter for Monthly Votes) 560: Chapter 560: Your Arrival (Big Chapter for Monthly Votes) The cold wind scraped across the cheek, brushing the earlobes, as He Ao’s figure swiftly landed on the wall opposite the elevator shaft.

Then, with his feet against the wall, he lightly pushed off to leap towards the massive void.

At the sa ti, he looked towards the interior of the void, but it seed as if a layer of purple fog stood before him, obstructing his gaze.

He Ao stared at the fog, when he had looked down from above just monts before, he hadn’t seen this layer of fog.

Although standing in front of the elevator doors, he couldn’t see the void directly beneath him, but the fog that had now appeared before his eyes bulged out much more than the void, making it impossible not to see any trace of it from above.

After a very brief contemplation, He Ao closed his eyes.

When all the surroundings faded away, that hazy mist still lood in his mind, hiding the scenery behind it.

Indeed, the mist was not sothing that truly existed, but a ‘blockade’ occurring directly in the consciousness to cover up what lay behind the void.

This fog only appeared when one looked into the interior of the void, which is why He Ao hadn’t seen it when looking down from above.

Although such power was sowhat mystical, in this bizarre and odd world of the Transcendents, it seed anything was possible.

And at this mont, He Ao had entered the midst of this fog.

His body moved forward swiftly with gravity, and after he estimated that he had completely passed over the elevator shaft and entered about two or three ters into the void, the obstructing fog slowly began to fade, and He Ao’s figure landed on the hard ground.

ssy voices ca from ahead at the sa ti.

“She’s dead.”

“There’s no flesh left.”

“Decayed so quickly.”

“Soone is drawing her life away, how interesting.”

“Shh, I sense an inscrutable power.”

“Where’s her soul?”

“Was it eaten?”

“The Great Being that ate her flesh has also devoured her soul.”

“Heehee, then we’ve got nothing to eat?”

“We snagged a re carcass!!”

“I’m so hungry!”

“Eek, another one’s co in!”

“Let sneak up on him quietly.”

“Shh, don’t make a sound; we can appear behind him and twist his neck off first.”

“He’s so skinny, is there enough flesh on him?”

“I feel it!

I feel it!”

“His soul is filled with an alluring fragrance.”

“His flesh is bursting with throbbing power.”

“He must be delicious!!!!”

“Eat him!

Eat him!”

“This is a highly nutritious food!!”

He Ao steadied his form and raised his head to look ahead.

This seed to be a circular hall, about seven ters tall, with both the ceiling and the floor being circular and the walls bulging outwards.

He Ao felt like he was in the belly of a plump clay jar.

Within his field of vision, various densely packed, twinkling purple patterns covered the floor, walls, and ceilings, shrouding the entire world in purple brilliance.

Not far in front of He Ao, a frail figure sat on the ground, looking like nothing but skin and bones, clad in tattered clothes, hair in disarray, staring at He Ao.

Odd, discordant voices, each with a different timbre, emanated from his mouth, and beside him lay a decayed skeleton enshrouded in bloodstained clothing.

He Ao watched this figure and, despite the many changes in stature and facial features, he imdiately recognized this hunched skin-and-bone silhouette—a person deeply engraved in Jess’s mory.

“Arent?”

He asked softly, looking at that figure.

“He recognizes !”

“He doesn’t recognize !”

“That’s not !!”

“He recognizes !!!”

“Arrghh!!!!”

Screams like howling winds tearing through a narrow gap rang throughout the hall as the frail figure suddenly clutched its head, letting out agonizing cries as if its heart was being ripped apart.

He collapsed to the ground; all the voices went abruptly quiet, leaving only the sound of the figure gasping for breath.

After a while, he lifted his head.

His stringy, filthy hair parted along his cheeks, he opened his bloodshot, red eyes wide, and stared at He Ao, “Are you…

Jess?”

Then, he staggered to his feet, “You’re still alive.”

“I’m still alive.”

He Ao watched him, unchanging.

In the observation of Divine Sense, a massive and contorted force twisted within Arent, a formless yet frightening pressure spilling naturally from that power, even causing He Ao to tense his muscles instinctively.

This force was far beyond that of an ordinary C-level; the sheer oppressive sensation was even close to the B-level Transcendents He Ao had encountered before.

This was not a naturally ford power, but one gathered through so twisted thod.

However, it seed that the force was not entirely under Arent’s control and did not operate with his movents.

Apparently, Arent before him was the ‘reinforcent’ the nurse had been seeking.

“It seems you haven’t had it as good as you imagined after entering the ntal institution.”

He Ao held the dagger in his hand, his expression calm, giving nothing away.

“That person told back then to stay in the ntal hospital for a while, wait until your na was clear, and then I could be declared ‘stable’ and ‘discharged,'”

Arent spread his hands and scoffed, “Turns out, I never left this place.”

“What is this place?”

He Ao asked calmly.

“This place?

Do you an this hospital?

Or this hall,”

Arent shrugged, “Well, they’re all the sa.

This here is a breeding farm; the breeding farm outside breeds livestock, this one breeds livestock too – it’s just that the livestock here happen to be people.”

“So you were ‘sent to market’?”

He Ao watched Arent.

The so-called ‘sent to market’ ant that the livestock was mature enough for the next step of processing.

“‘Sent to market?’ That’s a good way to put it,”

Arent chuckled, “In a way, yes, but now you’re in this breeding farm too, so you’re one of the livestock here as well.”

“How do they determine when ‘livestock’ is mature?”

He Ao looked at Arent.

Upon hearing this question, Arent was startled, and the expression on his cheeks briefly stiffened, a thread of abnormal, twisted fervor surfaced on his face,

“When you can hear ‘its’ voice, feel ‘its’ will, and sense your own soul starting to rge into ‘its’ great, boundless body, it proves that you’re ‘ripe’.”

“And after one is ripe?”

He Ao briefly activated Super mory and glanced at the purple patterns around him, these patterns corresponding to sothing in his mory.

For a breeding farm, when livestock is ripe, it ans they can be slaughtered.

“Ripe ‘livestock’ will gradually feel their souls leaving their bodies, and those decaying husks will beco ‘its’ sacrifices.”

A hint of that twisted fervor was still evident on Arent’s face.

He Ao stared at his cheeks, realizing in that mont that the ‘livestock’ Arent had just ntioned was not a taphor, but truly a sincere belief from the bottom of his heart, that he was indeed livestock.

“If it’s a breeding farm, and there are livestock, then there must be a herdsman, who is the herdsman?”

He Ao’s gaze moved to the skeleton on the ground.

“She’s not.

She’s just livestock that fancied itself the herdsman,” Arent’s eyes followed He Ao’s to the skeleton on the ground, “this breeding farm has no herdsman, it’s livestock tending to livestock, and in the end, all livestock ripen, returning to the ultimate greatness.”

“To beco a part of ‘it’?”

He Ao continued.

“Did you see the words I wrote in the room?”

Arent looked at He Ao and let out a laugh.

“Your handwriting was unstable, extraordinarily shaky, which proves you were afraid then.”

He Ao remarked calmly.

“Every piece of livestock feels fear before that final mont, but when it tamorphoses, the world will appear completely different,”

Arent gazed at He Ao, “Jess, you possess an exceptional and outstanding soul, staying here to beco a part of that Great Being will be the most correct decision you have ever made in your life.”

“Are you already ripe?”

He Ao looked at the emaciated Arent in front of him, “Then why do you still have such a strong sense of self-will?

Does the entity you worship not want you?”

“How can you presu to guess the will of the Great Being?

I’ve been chosen as the keeper of this breeding farm,”

Arent’s eyes fixed on He Ao, “Your soul is so delicious, the Great Being will like you too, and you could also get a great job like mine.”

“So, the thing you’re guarding includes that door behind you too?”

He Ao’s gaze moved past Arent’s body and fell on the wall behind him, where on what seed to be a seamless wall, there were actually four almost imperceptible seams outlining the shape of a door.

During the brief activation of Super mory just now, he had actually discovered this door.

Considering the structure of the entire building, the hall where He Ao now stood was just a small part, with a much larger area beyond that door.

“Your greed will eventually lead you into the Abyss,” Arent, with his head lowered, watched He Ao, “Livestock shouldn’t pry into things they shouldn’t, stepping out of their pen brings a fate of doom.”

“Just like you who, out of greed for that commission, killed Tiny?”

He Ao retracted his gaze, focusing on Arent.

“How dare you compare yourself to that Great Being!”

That sentence struck a chord in Arent, and his already fanatical visage contorted.

“I don’t find it great, it’s not even worthy to be my friend.”

He Ao watched Arent’s expression, speaking slowly and calmly.

“You deserve to die!!!”

Arent’s body collapsed to the ground, his gaze fixed on He Ao, bloodshot eyes bulging out of their sockets, and a twisted, chaotic voice once again erged from his mouth.

“Hurry up and eat him!

He looks so delicious!!!”

“The human body itself is frail, to rge with the Great Being is to evolve!”

“We can circle around to his back.”

“Eat him!

Eat him!”

“He has defiled our faith!!!”

Arent’s expression beca more and more twisted, his already sowhat stable sanity once again descending into chaos.

His mind had been completely alienated by that unknown existence, turning into so twisted zealot who could not tolerate any judgnt of that unknown existence.

And in his eyes, He Ao’s words were nothing short of sacrilege, profaning what was most important to him.

He lifted his head, his bloodshot eyes staring at He Ao, as thick bones extended from his skinny body like kindling, and then huge pulsating flesh grew out of those bones.

He Ao watched the crazed Arent, watched those eyes full of hatred.

In that mont, his gaze seed to travel through ti, back to the day when Arent was declared not guilty and rely sent to a ntal hospital for treatnt.

Arent had the best defense lawyer, the most professional team, and almost flawless hospital records.

His hands were stained with blood, yet in the end, he received no punishnt.

Standing beneath the steps of the courtroom, Jess watched Arent with that sa anger.

He pulled out the handgun he carried, wanting to take out the bastard once and for all, but was tackled and pinned to the ground by the surging crowd.

Pinned down, he watched as Arent got into the car going to the hospital with a provocative smile on his face.

At that mont, the world was so silent; it all seed to turn into a dim black and white.

Crows flew across the sky, and the man, angry but unable to break free, had a blank mind.

Arent might have long forgotten that scene, forgotten the man who, crazier than he, blindly drew his gun and charged at him.

Forgotten the fury in the eyes of that man, forgotten how with a storm of bullets, he had destroyed the man’s last attachnt in the world, the final tint of color in the man’s life.

But Jess rembered.

He always rembered.

Even knowing the Mysterious Person might have already silenced him, he never stopped searching for the address of that ntal hospital.

Ti and again, year after year.

Arent’s body continued to twist, the thick bones protruding from his back supporting his body as they encircled him.

He stooped, angrily gazing at He Ao, angrily gazing at this arrogant and disrespectful person.

Rage blazed within his heart.

He Ao watched the Arent before him, as if crossing through space and ti, watching that man who had been pinned under the courthouse steps, holding a handgun, furious yet powerless to act.

Only now, the original mocker stood in the place of the enraged.

He Ao calmly watched Arent’s face, split asunder with rage, and slowly raised his hand,

“Co.”

The twisted flesh built up into a massive body, the shrill screech echoing within the confined space.

The angry roar, like thunder, summoned the howling wind with dancing skeletons.

Between the thunder and the howling wind, the thin man with the short dagger stood calm and unmoving, like an ageless mountain peak.

Steadfast amidst the world’s fury.
