442: Chapter 442: Is That So?

(Large Chapter) 442: Chapter 442: Is That So?

(Large Chapter) The elder looked at He Ao, “Don’t act tough.”

He Ao smiled and shook his head without speaking.

The elder gazed at him, silent for a mont, “What do you want.”

This was asking what it would cost to deal with Kaja.

“I need a formula for a C-level Talent Sequence.

I don’t know what the na of this Talent Sequence is, but it should be the next level Talent Sequence corresponding to an Assassin, related to the ability of ‘Shadow.’ Additionally, Kaja’s Talent Sequence belongs to —I need your help to make it into a Secret dicine.”

He Ao did not stand on ceremony, but spoke directly.

He did not place all his hopes on the Andavi family either; if this request could not be satisfied, he would change to another demand.

Since the Andavi family had made the Doctor a core aspect of their operations and had made a wide network of good contacts over the years, it was possible they really had the formula for the Secret dicine of the Talent Sequence he needed.

The High Priest Kaja of the rck family thought it was not just a baseless rumor that the Andavi family had abundant reserves.

Giving soone a fish is not as good as teaching them to fish.

In a sense, the formula for the Secret dicine is more important than a C-level Secret dicine itself.

With Secret dicine, you can only cultivate one C-level, but with the formula, you can cultivate many C-levels.

The elder looked at He Ao, silent for a mont, then said slowly, “Okay.”

That ant he had the formula for the ‘Shadow’ Talent Sequence.

It seed he had guessed right.

“Good, please take care of my daughter for .”

He Ao revealed a smile and stepped back, disappearing from everyone’s sight in an instant.

This was the Assassin’s ability, ‘Stealth.’

The elder glanced at the spot where He Ao had just been standing, then turned to Ennie, “Little girl, you can stay with for a while.”

An electric wheelchair slowly moved through the curtain of rain, approaching the elder.

The wheelchair ca to a stop in front of him, and an airy umbrella unfurled, shielding them from the downpour.

The elder slowly seated himself in the wheelchair.

Ennie looked around, then walked over and stood behind the wheelchair, pushing it forward.

“Grandfather, you don’t seem nervous at all?”

The wheelchair’s automatic navigation guided them on the path, and as Ennie moved in the direction it indicated, she asked softly.

“You don’t seem frightened at all by yourself either,” the elder replied with a smile, his voice hoarse and slow.

“I’ve grown up,” Ennie replied slowly, “and I’ve learned to take care of myself.”

The elder turned to glance at her, speaking softly, “You’ve experienced growth that you had to rely on yourself for, which is why you are not afraid when you are alone.”

He turned back around to face forward, “When your life is long enough and you’ve experienced many things, you’ll find so things are not worth the strain; people’s fears always stem from the unknown.”

“Oh.”

Ennie nodded as if she understood but did not quite grasp the full aning.

At that mont, a footrest popped out in front of her toes, with two footprints lighting up on it, as if inviting her to step on.

She hesitated for a mont, then stepped on and steadied herself.

“Hold on tight.”

The elder spoke slowly.

The wheelchair, which had been moving along smoothly, suddenly accelerated, speeding down the muddy road in the pouring rain.

The rubber wheels of the wheelchair crossed over puddles, splashing up a burst of muddy water.

——

The entrance to the camp.

He Ao’s figure had already appeared atop the entrance wall, where the Andavi family mbers were currently taking cover behind the gate, exchanging fire with the rck family mbers outside the wall.

The massive machine gun spat out tongues of fla.

The raging rain clearly affected the Andavi family warriors’ visibility, while the rck family seed unaffected, their assault in the rain as vigorous as it would be under blazing sun.

The fierce assault by the rck family had, in a short ti, gained a slight advantage.

It should be noted that between attackers and defenders, it’s always easier to defend than to attack.

If this situation continued, the gate would definitely not hold.

Rain Master…

He Ao’s gaze wandered into the veil of rain.

Controlling wind and rain might not seem like a profession with great lethal power, but if utilized properly, it was equivalent to carrying a terrain advantage with you.

There were no weak abilities, only abilities not used properly.

He Ao activated his Super mory, and minute details entered his mind, assembling the scenes beyond the rain curtain within his brain.

At the back of the rck family’s position, five enormous chas were docked.

These five chas were types He Ao had never battled before, three of them smaller, standing in the rear, and two larger ones in front.

The two larger chas were roughly humanoid in shape, with a color sche of red and black; each shoulder housed two large gun barrels protruding outwards.

The three smaller chas were uniformly orange-yellow, faintly displaying so striped patterns.

Although He Ao had never encountered these two types of chas before,

Vian’s mory contained information on both types.

The two larger chas in front were called ‘Cerberus’, their combat power weaker than that of Hell Apostles but still categorized as C-level chas.

‘Cerberus’ was developed by the Yiwis Space System as a ‘youth version’ of the Hell Apostle, easy to operate, with pilots that were easy to train, high attack power, but fragile armor.

They were mainly sold to rcenary Corps of the conglorates, affordable and suitable for bulk purchases.

The three smaller chas in the back were Tiger III Combat chs, designed to counter D-level exotic beasts, dium-sized combat units.

Cerberus chas rarely operate on solo missions; they usually function as teams.

For example, a classic wilderness reconnaissance cha Squad comprised of two C-level ‘Cerberus’ and three D-level ‘Tiger III’ was responsible for scouting more dangerous areas.

Of course, these chas were designed to combat exotic beasts, but in practice, they were also often used against ‘disobedient’ Transcendents.

Judging by the level of this squad, the one commanding them in the wilderness must be Reid, not the Stars Pharma behind Reid.

If Stars Pharma had been after He Ao, they would have sent five Hell Apostles here instead.

chas were at a disadvantage when facing powerful Transcendents; the difference in size was too great.

Transcendents were not only powerful in combat but also agile, making it easy for them to take down a cha.

In turn, it was very difficult for a cha to hit a powerful, constantly evading Transcendent.

Therefore, to combat powerful Transcendents, it was common to stack more cha firepower.

But commanding those powerful chas required authority, and Reid’s own clearance probably wasn’t enough to mobilize five Hell Apostles, thus a standard squad was arranged to return.

However, given Reid’s intelligence, he should be well aware that this squad wouldn’t stand a chance against He Ao, so he likely had prepared another contingency plan.

Behind these five chas was an off-road vehicle surrounded by many heavy weapons.

It appeared that Kaja was hiding inside it.

He Ao received the photograph of Kaja from the hands of the newly-appointed commander who was directing the battle from the staircase.

Then he morized Kaja’s appearance and leaped down from the wall, dropping to the ground in an area where the gunfire was sparse.

At the sa ti, his figure “vanished” into the air.

The battle continued, with gunfire crackling like a string of exploding beans.

He Ao’s silhouette passed by rcenaries of the rck family, heading towards the deepest part of the position.

As he approached the off-road vehicle at that deepest spot, he paused to take a look, then turned around and circumvented the five chas positioned in front.

These chas had not made a move so far; it was clear they were there just to bolster the defense.

This matched what He Ao had speculated earlier.

Kaja was using this combat squad of chas to bluff, taking the opportunity to attack the Andavi family encampnt.

This cha squad wouldn’t make a move unless the situation beca dire or they saw He Ao.

He Ao kept a considerable distance from this cha squad, circling around the outskirts.

Kaja was extrely cautious; to enter the off-road vehicle where he was, one would have to break through the defense ford by five chas.

According to the data from Vian’s mories, the “Cerberus” chas are equipped with intelligent sensing equipnt.

This equipnt doesn’t rely on human operation; instead, it is driven and recognized by an intelligent system independently.

This was specifically designed to counter “Assassins” who could disrupt ntal states with their invisibility.

The Assassin’s “Stealth” isn’t actual invisibility; it deceives the brains of those around, making them unaware of the person’s presence.

But such deception doesn’t work on artificial intelligence, and this sensing system can identify Assassins in “Stealth” and emit sharp alarms.

Even though cha pilots would still be under the Assassin’s “Deception” when the alarm sounds, it would undoubtedly alert the pilots, accelerating their ergence from the deception.

So highly skilled pilots could even bypass the brain’s processing and use their body’s conditioned reflex to launch an attack the mont the alarm sounds.

And at this mont, the off-road vehicle suspected of housing Kaja was within the sensing range of two Cerberus chas.

In other words, He Ao could not approach Kaja without alerting the cha squad.

This guy had nearly utilized the cha squad to its utmost potential.

He fortified his position solidly, guarding against being ambushed.

He Ao now had a rough understanding of why this guy had personally led the attack on the Andavi family encampnt.

He was gravely afraid that the Andavi family might have so hidden Transcendent power that could take him out, so without sufficient backup, he would not leave his stronghold.

Given his caution, he would never let the cha squad leave his side, even if the siege turned disadvantageous.

After all, the cha squad wouldn’t truly help him lay siege; the most valuable use of them was to stay by his side as detectors and sowhat ineffective “guards.”

If the Andavi family mbers were to co, the cha squad might not truly protect him, but if He Ao approached, the cha squad would beco the strength that could resist and even defeat He Ao.

He Ao guessed that once Kaja knew He Ao might have escaped to the wilderness, he probably prepared as if He Ao really was with the Andavi family.

Kaja played this balancing act very well.

He leveraged the external cha squad to counter He Ao, who was also an external factor.

Both sides increased their strength, which ant neither side did.

This way, he could focus solely on opposing the Andavi family.

After roughly figuring out Kaja’s sche, He Ao understood he couldn’t bypass this cha squad; Kaja would surely use it against him.

Since he couldn’t avoid it,

He Ao looked up and gripped the short sword in his hand,

Let’s change our approach then.

The rainwater slid slowly down the sharp blade of the dagger as He Ao circled around the vehicle where Kaja was located and retreated to a farther position at the back.

He erged from ‘Stealth,’ revealing his figure.

Then he burst out from the back, heading towards the off-road vehicle where Kaja was.

His appearance startled the Wilderness Wanderers at the rear, but they quickly understood and turned their guns to aim at He Ao.

Without psychological interference, they easily spotted He Ao in the curtain of rain.

And before they could fire, He Ao’s figure suddenly vanished.

The sharp blade pierced their throats, and bright red blood mingled into the torrential rain curtain.

“Enemy attack!!!”

The piercing alarm suddenly blasted.

These were people who had survived in the wilderness, and they naturally knew how much damage a powerful Transcendent could inflict.

“This man is Pete,” the young leader inside the foremost ch said, comparing the photo displayed on the ch’s monitor, “He must have been hiding behind and took the chance during our siege to launch a surprise attack, trying to kill you, Kaja.

You were right, he’s indeed with the Andavi family.”

The giant ch’s engines spewed out surging flas, vaporizing the surrounding raindrops into a misty haze.

“Hahaha, he certainly didn’t expect Mr.

Reid had foreseen his presence here and had sent you all over,” Kaja’s laughter ca through the communicator, “It will be quite entertaining when you capture him later.”

“We’re not here to capture him, we’re here to kill him.”

The lead youth hoarsely corrected.

“Yes, yes, my mistake.”

Kaja promptly replied with a laugh.

“You’ve done very well,” the huge ch turned its gun barrel towards He Ao, and a dazzling brilliance erupted in an instant, “We will report your achievents to Mr.

Reid.”

“It’s an honor to work for the corporation,” Kaja said with a smile, “After the fight is over, the special envoys must stay; the Andavi family still has many long-accumulated treasures waiting for you to choose from.”

“No rush.”

The lead youth responded hoarsely, shutting off the communicator, and at this mont, his ch had descended right in front of him.

He Ao looked up at the giant ch, seemingly puzzled as to why these chs would appear here, and then he imdiately abandoned the idea of moving forward and turned to run back in the direction he had co from.

“As cautious as the intelligence described,”

The lead youth opened the team’s communication, “Surround him as planned and kill him; that’s Mr.

Reid’s order.

He knows too many of the corporation’s secrets, we can’t let him have the chance to speak.”

“Yes!”

The remaining four chs quickly sprang into action.

When the sound of the chs’ engines had faded into the distance, Kaja, sitting inside the vehicle, put down the communicator and cut off the communication.

He glanced at the monitor in front of him, where the figures of the chs were no longer visible in the rain curtain.

He sneered, “Arrogant, foolish city people.”

Then he raised his head to look toward the camp in the rain ahead, slightly reclining back,

“Everything is within my expectations; the rck family will soon beco the strongest family in this wilderness.”

“Is that so?”

A strange light laughter echoed from behind him.
